    Locked
    Sticky
There are 3 files to choose from

    - Main includes both the clutter and Interface replacer. ESPFE Plugin. Requires the textures from the original mod

    - Optionals:

Clutter Only Replacer - ESPFE plugin to use the skeleton key model from Elsopa's Skeleton Keys Redone. Needs the meshes/textures from original mod to work.

Interface Only Replacer - Includes only 1 mesh to use the Skeleton Key model to change the lockpick in the UI when lockpicking. Requires the textures from the original mod.

My mod does require the original mod's textures as I did not include any textures. For the clutter espfe - the textures and meshes are required from the original mod.

My biggest thanks to Elsopa for once again providing us with another amazing mod!

Would it be possible to add conditions to when this mod is activated? Together with Daedric Dagger Lockpick Shiv Replacer of course.
For example the lockpick will only change into Elsopas skeleton key if you've completed the nightingale quest and have the skeleton key in your inventory.
Same thing for the daedric dagger: the shiv will only be replaced if you have the daedric dagger in your inventory

That would likely require scripting and a different esp for that to be a possiblity to add the condition to the interface change which is something I haven't done before. I could look into it and see. But this mod was just a simple mesh replacer for the Interface and an ESPFE for the clutter objects to take on the appearance of the skeleton keys made by Elsopa. I won't make promises as I'm still quite new to modding myself but I'll look into it.

As for the daedric dagger as a shiv. That is something you'd have to talk to that MA about seeing as its not included in my mod. I just use that replacer because I'm not a fan of the vanilla shiv. Haha

After some thinking I've come to the conclusion that it should be possible to do it, for the same reason that Sharpen Other Swords II - AnimObject Swapper and Security Overhaul SKSE - Lock Variations was possible to make. But it's far above my skill level, I wouldn't even know where to start. I've reached out to wSkeever since he made the first mod and is co-modauthor of the second.

I've used base object swapper for clutter items and I do use AimObject Swapper myself as well for some of my mods. It does have the same concept as base object swapper but for animated objects. I don't know exactly how it would work with UI elements and quests, if wSkeever does get back to you feel free to send me a private message as well. I don't mind looking into providing additional options if they are feasible but again, I'm still pretty new to modding so this is something that's a bit out of my knowledge base but I'm willing to learn.

This not being conditional is my only hangup to downloading it. I use ElSopa's model already, and was thinking "I really don't want to go back to a plain lockpick now, but I do want to complete the quest line."

I don't want to keep the key, either, since I want getting the unbreakable perk to have value, and I don't want a new game to already have the key. I guess I could always remove it before a new game and add it later, but that's not really ideal.
Either way, nice mod, and very close to what I was looking for. Thank you!

Hey, I'm not sure what you mean by your comment. This doesn't add any of the skeleton key perks or anything just changes the standard lockpick models to use the El Sopa Models to replace them so they always look like skeleton keys. I add a few different versions so that it would replace the lockpicks you see in the world or just the UI and a download for both versions together. It doesn't touch anything related to the skeleton key itself, it's quest etc. There are no special perks added to the lockpicks, its just a model replacement for them if that makes sense.

I think what Narangren means is that he wishes your mod only replaced the lockpicks with the skeleton key once you have the skeleton key in your inventory. It is more or less the same I mentioned in my comment above.

The mod is a mesh replacer only right, so while its "tedious" and we wish it worked "right out of the box", we can just keep this mod disabled until we obtain the skeleton key in-game. I see no problem with that.

Oh I see. Thanks for clarifying. Yeah that's exactly it. I didn't want to start touching any of the pre-existing quest scripts etc since I'm not overly experienced when it comes to script work/creating new scripts etc to make it an add-on after the skeleton key quest and so on. I made the mod for personal use originally since I loved the model that El Sopa released but decided to release it. I'm still looking into making it viable that it becomes a replacer only once the quest has been either completed or started but that's something that's still out of my expertise level.

Does this also work with the Security Overhaul mods (e.g., Lock Variations, Regional Locks, Some More Locks) or only with vanilla lockpicking UI?

I use Security Overhaul - I don't touch the locks themselves, the ESP included is an override to overwrite the vanilla lockpick item. It theoretically should work seeing as Security Overhaul doesn't touch the lockpick and my mod doesn't touch the locks.

I haven't tested it with every lock variation when using Security Overhaul

Likely a silly question, but if I like the vanilla texture can I still download the interface-only replacer and have the vanilla texture for all clutter lockpicks?

Yeah absolutely. Just use the optional UI only replacer and the clutter items won't be touched :)

FYI I just tried it and it turns out that it turns the default skeleton key skin into a light purple texture, probably a bug because of something else but I dig it as kind of like a ghostly remnant left behind by the original.

Interesting - I don't include any meshes/textures from Elsopa's skeleton key itself and the only mesh I do have included is to change the interface version of lockpicks when you lockpick - the ESPFE included overwrites the vanilla lockpicks so that they take the appearance of the skeleton keys but again none of the meshes/textures are included so ElSopa's mod is still required if using mine along with it. I didn't touch anything that has to do with the skeleton key itself either since it's tied to the Thieves Guild quest and didn't want to screw anything up there. Let me know if you do get it sorted out.
