There is a massive amount of sanitation and checks in the filename to ensure it should save no matter what, no matter what language. If this plugin still causes CTDs, please send me your save file and information about what language you use and where you were when it crashed.

This mod is fantastic but like many other people have already said, it still overwrites files if you take multiple screenshots in the same time and place. The suffix feature doesnt quite seem to work but if this issue is ever fixed I don't see why I would not use this mod ever.

      Screenshot Helper Fixed Pre-AE
Screenshot Helper Fixed Post-AE till 1.6.629

Pre-ae I use personally, it certainly works, post-ae I have not tested, but it should work.

Thank you. Sadly, Post-AE fails to load due to version mismatches and Pre-AE simply does nothing.

Thanks for the fix. Not really sure why but I'm having difficulties with your mod. MO2 reports that "ScreenshotHelper.dll (Screenshot Helper Fixed Pre AE). A dependency DLL could not be found (code 126)". I am confident that I have the required mods installed for at least the screenshot helper on this mod page we're at so I'm not sure what this dependency could be about. Anyone else getting this message?

    @MaskedRPGFan
Taking out the debugging version files can be harmful, which can result in a lack of runtime files. Please provide the released version of the file!
Harmful to others for two years.

Great mod, with MaskedRPG's fix especially.

Worked just fine for me on 1.5.97. I really like the idea of this... I've got literally thousands of screenshots piling up in generic folders for games I've played much less than Skyrim already, so thanks. Endorsed.

(p.s. the syslink idea was a good one for extra organisation)

    Dumb question.

Does anybody know of a way to remap the PrintScreen function in skyrim to something other than the PrintScr button? I have a non-standard keyboard layout and don't have that key available. Was thinking ideally I'd just disable my steam overlay and remap the Skyrim feature to F12 instead, but...

There's literally nothing on Google about this specifically but I've actually just figured this out:

To change Skyrim's screenshot button go to data > interface > controls > PC > controlmap.txt in either your game folder or any mod using it that has ultimate priority and change the value 0xb7 next to Screenshot. You can copy and paste the new value just for that section from here. This site conveniently sets all the right scan codes (key remaps) -- (select code, then what you want, then scroll down to the textbox and copy and paste the new value next to Screenshot into your controlmap file).

Edit: If you don't already have a loose controlmap.txt file, you can probably just safely download the whole thing from that site as it'll be the vanilla values, or a custom one from the Nexus, but any remaps in game you've set (excluding the MCM of course) may have to be redone. Just create the folders to put it in as normal if they're missing too (data, interface etc.)

      Hope this helps people.

This mod has been abandoned it, has been broken for over a year now and nobody has made a fix or replacement yet.

I'd really love to see this updated. It overwrites images if you take multiple screenshots back-to-back, the MaskedRPG fix doesn't work (1.5.9) and I can't uninstall it without breaking my save. It's really upsetting that I'm stuck not being able to take screenshots the way I want because the mod won't work and I can't take it out.

I hate to be "one of those people," but I can also substantiate that the version provided by user MaskedRPGFan doesn't (and is not intended to, somehow) work with the current, 1.6.640, version of Skyrim SE / AE. Tested without any mods other than Address Library, SSE Engine Fixes, SKSE, and Screenshot Helper itself, of course.

And photographic proof as evidence because why not.

Additionally, for those unaware, trying to launch the game even after receiving this error message will (perhaps obviously) result in the mod not working at all.

Hopefully someone with more know-how than myself is able to provide an updated version in the near future, as this is unironically one of my favourite mods for Skyrim, and it's a shame to see it languish like this.
(Or, at least, hopefully someone else has made or will make a mod which operates near identically.)

Screenshot Location and Metadata might seem like an acceptable alternative at first, but, alas, one of its dependencies is incompatible with AE.

I can't open the screenshot png image files. Error. Bollocks.
