i customize settings in one save, exit mcm, save game, exit skyrim, relaunch skse, new game, make character, wait for all MCM menus to initilize, wait for all all "config loaded" messages to stop, open realistic water two MCM, all settings are default instead of my old save settings. i confirmed this by then exit MCM, exit skyrim, launch skse, load the old save, confirm settings are non-default, maintenence submenu is still there. they dont seem to be either getting stored by settings loader or settings loader isn't pushing them into new games
that would be awesome, i did save it but it didnt seem to work, but autosaving feature might do it where it wouldnt for me trying manually. thanks. all your settings loaders are a must have for me because i never really seem to get that far in skyrim before starting over lol
Done. To make sure all works fine, check: 1. If settings file ("\SKSE\Plugins\RealisticWaterTwo\UserSettings.json") is created after MCM is closed. 2. If a file from above is not created, check if your PapyrusUtil works for your game version. 3. If PapyrusUtil is correct for your gave version, look in Papyrus.log for this message, "Realistic Water Two: Error saving user settings.".
Just a heads up, Realistic Water Two was updated again, this time to v5.2.1, just in case the script needs to be updated Masked. Thanks for keeping all your setting loaders updated btw.
Hmm... I'm not getting the 'Maintenance' entry in the MCM menu under Realistic Water Two, just the default 'Mod Options' entry that comes with that mod. I did overwrite the script when I installed your mod, anything you can think of that I can try to make it appear?
I checked it and it works fine for me. Make sure nothing replaces my mod's script. Are you using MO2? If so, delete any files that are identical to my script to be sure.
I'm not using MO2, I just tried redownloading it again, and installing it again... no luck, the Maintenance menu still doesn't show up. I even tried manually copying the script to the scripts folder... nothing... very werid, I am using other Settings Loader mods from you, and they work just fine... I don't understand what could be wrong in this case O.o
I just tried that, the 'Realistic Water Two' entry in the MCM does appear, but it's empty. I don't know exactly what registers an MCM entry in the MCM menu in the first place, I assume the .esp from that mod registers an entry and the script populates its content? so I don't know if having it show up but be empty is an indication of the script just missing while the menu shows up due to the plugin.
As far as I am aware the only other mod that I have that has anything to do with Realistic Water Two is the patch from JKs Skyrim, but that one is just a plugin, it doesn't have any .pex scripts or anything.
(also, just in case, I checked the scripts source folder as well, but nope, no RealisticWaterTwoMCM source script there either... :(
I just checked... nothing.... I even just tried moving RWT plugin to be loaded LAST in my load order (RWT is already fairly below in my load order, like... 5th before the last), but I just moved it, disabled JKs RWT patch in case that was the one messing with it... nope, nothing.
I also checked with SSEEdit both applying the filter to show conflicts and manually without that filter, there's nothing below RTW plugin that overwrites the quest.
It's not the end of the world, as RWT is one of those mods that has very few options to set up, so if I can't use your Settings Loader it's not a tragedy, but to be honest at this point I'm more like curious of what could be causing it than annoyed for it not working..
Any other ideas of things I could test? (besides disabling everything and just trying RWT alone of course)
Sure, I'll give it a go, let's see if we can find the root of the issue. I'll report back in a bit, have to finish some stuff first but I'll test it after.
Ok, so I tested that one, after a few seconds it registered a new MCM menu, basically I end up with duplicates, two 'Realistic Water Two' entries in the MCM menu: - Realistic Water Two: has 'Mod Options' (without anything selected) and 'Maintenance'. - Realistic Water Two: only has 'Mod Options' (this one has things selected, so it's the one I already had)
I don't know what to make of this, hmmm... is there a way to use the script from that test instead of the one provided by the mod you uploaded? or does it also need the plugin .esp and also the seq folder?

So we have successful test results. The mod I created to test is exactly the same Settings Loader but I changed script name and created new quest record to execute it. But wait, are you using it on existing save? Without clean save?
I installed the Test file you gave me, opened the save I was using, and just checked if the new menu would show up.
I didn't continue the save or anything, just tested what would happen in my current save. Ideally I would like to continue this save and just replace RWT plugin, just as I would do with your mod, and continue playing it, but I'm not sure why it's not registering the 'Maintenance' submenu, but with your Test plugin and scripts it registered both submenus... I mean, ok, it's a new quest with a different name, but if it detects the Maintenance submenu then it should detect it in the RWT script probably (granted, I haven't taken a look at the script itself, but I assume both do the same since you said it is exactly the same settings loader).
It does... so for some reason, it's not registering the Maintenance submenu on an existing save. I wonder if it just triggers it when the quest is first initialized, I know it doesn't make much sense because pretty much all of the rest of your settings loaders which have a maintenance submenu do work on existing saves, but I'm clueless as to why it's not detecting it.
I've never tried this, but is there a way to restart a quest? Perhaps I can test restarting the RWT quest through the console..?
OMG I feel like such an idiot, how did I not see that in the description... no wonder you asked about a clean save before, jesus, sorry for wasting your time with troubleshooting this.
Just out of curiosity, because I can certainly just not install the settings loader for the current playthrough and just keep it for the next one, but do you have any idea what to be on the lookout regarding issues with following those steps for RWT? Like... water loosing its flow for example or something weird like that?
Again, sorry for wasting our time man, I've been using your other settings loaders and since most were pretty straightforward I just glanced at the description this time instead of reding it carefuly. :/

If you want it, I can update it and add auto save feature when you exit MCM settings menu.

Just a reminder that Realist Water Two Version 5.0.0 has just released.
Edit: I compared them and the MCMs for v4 and v5 are identical.
- Do not install my mod.
- Delete MCM script from RWT.
- Run game and check if MCM is in place.
If you see the MCM menu, it means another mod is providing this script. As far as I am aware the only other mod that I have that has anything to do with Realistic Water Two is the patch from JKs Skyrim, but that one is just a plugin, it doesn't have any .pex scripts or anything.

Just open SSEEdit and find which plugin is overriding record: 050C5FA5 RealisticWaterTwoMCMQuest from RWT.

What happens if you start new game? Is my Settings Loader working as intended?

I have no idea, how to troubleshooting RWT script, but if I will find out I will send you message.
Cheers, and thanks again for your help. :)
BTW FISSES causes CTD or partially loads settings if multiple mods try to load their settings at once.
Thanks for these.
