I've never been so happy to find a patch. Still works great (the second version) even with Dawn of Skyrim, CWE, Rob's Bug Fixes, CWE Lite, and Icy Windhelm combined.
Whoever is still getting CTDs with newer versions of Simplicity of Snow, I found a fix or workaround. Open "Simplicity of Snow.esp" in SSEEdit, expand "Material Object" and select "SnowMaterialWindhelm1P". On the right side go to the "DATA - Directional Material Data" section and drag "Single Pass" from Skyrim.esm to Simplicity of Snow.esp. This fixed the crashing for me.
For anyone struggling with mismatched snow with the non-majestic mountains patch Paraphernalia - Snow Color Fixes helps a lot. To make more things match, you can go into xedit and make the material object records from this patch match those of paraphernalia. The only thing you need from this patch is the single pass flag on those material object records.
I'm shocked I hadn't found this before but you've saved my rebuilt LO. I know you said to endorse the OG mods and not this one but I'll give you all three because you really deserve credit for giving us non-patch making folks a shot at a better Windhelm <3 thank you!
For those having issues with the palace of kings occlusion when using Majestic Mountains/Capital windhelm/simplicity of snow - CWE-SoS patch, will fix the walls bugging out, causing you to see through the map, BUT you might get some gray snow textures in the gray quarter roof tops area. if so, download MM - SoS patch, and it will fix the textures.
Additional stuff that might help some: 1. If using Grey Quarter expansion, you will get a chunk of wall near the blacksmith added by CWE, near the palace of kings blocking pathways, etc. Set user meta data in LOOT to load grey quarter after CWE to fix. 2. Windhelm entrance has a patch for CWE, however if you are using lanterns of skyrim II or Skyrim's dead, there will still be a few objects that are still out of place on the bridge, couldn't find a fix personally, so I will likely end up just fixing it on my end with the disable or markfordelete command once I start my play through
Doesn't work anymore, I guess because Majestic Mountains and SoS got updated. Installing this mod results in the snow shader going completely grey. Not installing this results in parts of Windhelm disappearing because of bad occlusion planes. Sucks. I have no idea how to fix this myself.
