So at first I had trouble with this mod with latest version of the game (1.6.1179), but I managed to make it work by changing the ini file. I simply replace the -1 to 1 (iow.remove the minus [ - ] )
Fantastic mod, thank you for your work! I am having an issue on Steam Deck however. Everything seems to work fine but I have no mouse cursor. I've tried setting "SteamDeck=0 %command%" through Steam, setting bSteamDeck=0 and 1, bGamepadEnable=0 and 1, this mods setting between -1, 0, and 1, and even deleting ini files (not the mod's) to reset them on launch, no luck. Mouselook works in-game and my cursor appears when the console is opened, but not in the main menu or the in-game pause menu. I'm launching the game through Steam with Mod Organizer 2 and SKSE 64. Skyrim AE on latest update.
EDIT: Uninstalling and reinstalling Skyrim temporarily fixed the issue for a few test runs, but reverted back no to cursor in menus.
EDIT 2: I've resolved the issue, fix in the replies below.
I and many other steam deck users it seems have been recently reporting struggling with this issue, but I haven't figured out a fix from any forum yet. I believe it occurs when Skyrim detects a gamepad on launch. I installed fo4 and made sure to use a pc input setup and turn off gamepad support in ini before launching the game (because of this very issue) and by the grace of atom I have a cursor in fo4. Also no similar issue in fnv. Has anyone figured out a fix barring a reinstall? I have like 100+ mods downloaded through mo2, and I'm worried I'll have to go through the tedious process of manually installing them all for the third time this week. I would just continue with the gamepad version of Skyrim except I can't even get past naming my character (I press x to bring up text bar is race-menu but nothing happens other than a sound).
Hopefully what I linked above works for you too. I should note when I used bethINI, the resulting ini configuration broke my mouse again so that was a no go.
As I said in the initial post I did reinstall with "SteamDeck=0 %command%", so if the ini configs alone don't work or if you generally feel the need to reinstall, make a copy of your Steam compatdata C drive for Skyrim. Reinstall Skyrim, ensure it runs, then reinstall mo2 and paste the C drive over the new one. Your configuration and mods are all in there and will be placed back as before, assuming we followed the same mo2 installation method (https://github.com/rockerbacon/modorganizer2-linux-installer) and you're running the current steam version.
Thanks for the suggestion, I will try it this weekend and report the result. Question; should I copy the entire compatdata file or just the c drive within? Also I could not find the ini file 'Skyrim.ini' only 'Skyrimdefault.ini', I modified that file as it seemed to be the same as the one on the link you shared, only should I rename the file?
Edit: Yay this fixed it, cursor present on start up. Anyone who has similar issue on steam deck I recommend using this fix as it worked perfectly for me
Apologies for missing your reply, I'm glad it worked for you!
I should note there is one caveat with this fix: Bethesda's support for Steam Deck seems like a hacky workaround. When the keyboard is required, i.e. naming your character or an enchanted item, an on screen keyboard will pop up allowing you to type, and (allegedly) bringing it up after (STEAM+X) works fine. The default on screen keyboard, if accessed beforehand, will CTD the game instantly, however. By opting out of steam deck mode an external keyboard will be needed for such cases. I'm not familiar with how all this works, so I don't know how or if it's possible to have both the cursor and the keyboard. Ideally if this "fix" is the only way for typing without a CTD, it should pop up and disappear when the game starts so the player can use it at any time without crashing.
I know this mod is a little older but if no one has made mention already trying to enchant anything kicks me out of renaming because the input switches. Do you know how I would remove the keyboards ability to switch input from keypresses so I can just use the mouse and the controller interchangeably.
Mod no longer works as intended on the latest GOG build. It makes my mouse movement scatter and the cursor isn't visible (can't click anywhere too). Disabling this mod makes k+m work again.
This mod almost works for me. For some reason, my mouse freaks out after I use a controller and just cycles between looking at the sky and the floor. I can't seem to use it after the controller has connected.
I would absolutely love to use this mod, but I still haven't found a fix yet.
I have tested using two different controllers. I have tried disabling all other unnecessary mods.
When a controller is not plugged in, all pc controls and menus function normally. When a controller is connected, the UI would always be in controller mode and my mouse would not appear in menus. Attempting to look with the mouse caused irregular, jerky movement primarily making me look straight up and down. The keyboard worked fine when a controller was connected, it's just that the button prompts weren't changing and the mouse didn't work correctly.
I tried editing the primary input .ini file and it had no effect.
Hey... Also facing this issue too. Mouse goes absolutely HAYWIRE whilst controller is plugged in. Unplugging and keyboard seems to work fine. Let me know if you have any fix or updates.
SKyrim AE v 1.6.640 not working. Game responds to Gamepad only. Keyboard and mouse don't do anything except in menus. Some gamepad buttons dont work while in menus such as the Left and Right triggers in the pause menu and the back button in the start menu.

After any changes needed to my config I make sure to set them both to read only.
