SKSE 2.0.20 is required if you're playing on Special Edition

Config file will auto regenerate if missing, and new settings will be appended to the file when you load up the game.

Is there a estimate for when this mod will get an update to 1.6.640? It's unplayable without an update. I'm getting the same error that everyone else is getting right now.

No ETA yet, but as they just pushed out a recent update, it's probably safe to assume that a newer version for the updated game will follow in the coming weeks. Hang in there! I'm right there waiting eagerly with you :)

@powerofthree I know you pushed through an update but the matter isn't resolved as of 10-1.   I am still getting the dll error message. I only have this mod, address libraries and  skse installed..     Steam version of game.

Leave it to Bethesda to fix what isn't broken.

Po3 posted a few weeks ago that they're aware of the Skyrim update, but that last update appeared to be just for people on the previous version of the game. So, it's not that they didn't update it correctly, but that the last update wasn't meant to address the new SKSE version/game version. Hopefully, one will be coming very soon so we can get back to playing after a few weeks off from it! :)

Copy that thanks for the update. I didn't realize how many mods out there depend on this one mod.  Gives you a much better appreciation for it for sure.

Definitely! For me, at least AutoBody and Maximum Carnage rely on this, so I certainly respect how much these mod authors make possible. But I eagerly check every day to see if this has been updated yet myself!

I am getting an error when I launch that says "A DLL plugin has failed to load correctly." and then a list of the plugins that include this one among several others.
I am still able to launch the games but the mods listed are disabled

Skyrim updated and caused a lot of mods to break (the update was that it got added to GOG...or something...i have no idea why that would cause an update but whatever). The only thing you can do is be patient and hope for an update soon, or somehow try to update the dll file yourself

From what I understand, it isn't still up to date with the latest latest update (skse 2.2.2, skyrim 1.6.640), so you might want to either download Skyrim 1.6.353 through the depot downloader or the steam console, or just not use this mod for now. Praise the modding community!

He didn't either, otherwise it would work. He may have made a mistake and uploaded the wrong product. In any case, he can be begged quite a bit, if it brings luck? Mental problems? Or or?

Yep, guess i will need to pass on Seasons of Skyrim, his other mod, since it requires this tweak. I have never tried neither. My game is already 1.6.640. Honestly... I have no idea what Bethesda is doing. It is almost as if they woke up 11 years later by watching indie studios supporting their game years after their release, except their reasons are vastly different. Vastly. They are still trying, with Steam, to find ways to make players pay them for modders' hard work. These "creations" are first steps before making ALL mods Bethesda's property, i can see it coming somehow. I hope i am only being paranoiac and they will stop messing up with their random, useless updates that only ruin mods. I want to know what damn game version i should even run, since every mod asks for different versions... Makes my brain ache.

EDIT: Oh god... OH GOD!!! I can't even tell Steam to stop auto updating games anymore. The options have disappeared in Steam. All what is left is:
    "Always keep this game updated"
    "Update when game launches"
    "Update the game in priority"

In other words, my choices are:

    "Update the game"
    "Update the game" or...
    "Update the game".

And they obviously thought of EVERYTHING. Using the offline mode won't help. If you try, they say "ONLY FULLY UPDATED GAMES CAN BE LAUNCHED OFFLINE". Can you believe it...? They have to have a reason to do so, right? STEAM = MAFIA

They are making new, useless updates every so often, and every time they do, it messes up popular mods. Even when their update is basically empty and brings only a minor update to one Beth mod (CC), they still mess up mods for the main game, big time. How is it not on purpose? At the same time, they offer "paying mods"... So, if Frostfall doesn't work anymore, no problem, "pay us, we will solve this"... I hate Steam so much, so so much. And Bethesda too. I have hated Steam for a decade now, but still hate it more and more and more. Why am i even FORCED to use Steam? Where is my freedom Valve, Bethesda, team USA? That's why i switched to GOG... I totally understand why Bethesda doesn't want Skyrim on GOG. Freaking crooks... But this is legal for them to do so, since their EULA say that you only buy a limited right to use their stuff, and they can change the softwares any way they want without asking you, and you can only agree. And they change their EULA any time they have a new scam to push. I have 3 games on Steam, 43 on GOG. Ohgosh, i wish Valve would bankrupt <3.

Needed some rant. At this rate, i can't even tell if these tweaks will ever see my computer...

EDIT2: I have banned Steam from communicating through my firewall and removed all authorizations it had, i wonder if treating Steam as the maleware it is will help... But, as with the offline mode, they must have thought about it... I expect more bad surprises. If anyone has a solution, i would gladly listen.

My experience in the past is that if I pick "Update when game launches" and then always launch through SKSE, the game won't update.  Only when I launch through the vanilla launch icon will it update.

Maybe petition Epic Games Store to carry Skyrim?  Sometimes I long for the days of actually buying a game that is complete on its launch day, but I suppose this is the price we pay for having always-online software.  It's great to have the developers continually invested, squashing bugs and creating content, but it can feel like you spend more time updating and tweaking a game than playing it.

      @kdterlesky

Nothing to do with always online or anything. Even back in the 90's, games were sold in a poor state, and you had to download patches. Only Blizzard was known to ship really good versions, but Activision bought it since then, and the past is in the past. The softwares are not online, only STEAM is. Because it is a controlling DRM, and nothing more. The problem is really elsewhere.

I can play any number of GOG games however much i want without having any access to internet. I only need internet to download the installer, period. Once an indie game is stable, i buy it, and this is it. Only Studios like Bethesda never finish their game and rely on modders.

I never had any problem with GOG or Galaxy. Though i spend a decade without even trying it. It is what Steam said it was meant to be but never was. There is no mandatory 3rd party software, no forced updates. The 3 games i have on Steam, i bought them in 2010/2011. Since, i switched to GOG, which is crushingly better in all regards for someone like me . Bethesda and Valve created a monopoly around Skyrim for what i deem to be disgusting reasons, allowing them to force anything they want, with no consequences, according to EULA that are illegal here. Google got convicted for the same kind of EULA, but not Valve, i don't get it. GOG allows me to do anything i want with my games. Anything. And i mean anything, even giving copies away (for free) to everyone in town. I won't, but i can. I even share my account with a friend (though i hardly ever try what he has, since this is not the kind i like all too much), we can install the same game on any number of computers around the world... We even played a LAN with a game only he had on his account, it is even easier than 30 years ago. I never pirated a game on GOG, but quite a few times on Steam. With games on Steam, i have no scruples: those who decide for a Steam exclusive never have good intentions (It is ALWAYS the big publishers, we all know why). And on top of it, it happened in the past that i chose to pirate a game merely because it was necessary to use it without hassles... Which is terrible, they can't complain about piracy when they are crooks themselves.

As for creating content... Did you know? Larian, Owlcat and all these indie studios create ACTUAL content and expansions, but oftentimes give it away for free to those who already bought the game. Supporting the game never implied some sort of downside along the way. They want you to believe it is normal. But it is a scam, nothing more. No petition will ever be of any use.

I don't need Epic, which isn't much better. I have stories about Epic, too but i won't rant much more than this.

I have tested remaining forever in offline mod. Surprisingly enough, Steam does allow you to remain offline when you launch Steam the next time. For now. I had thought about your solution, but couldn't test it. So, you are being extremely useful to me right now, and i want to thank you for it, from the bottom of my heart.

      @kdterlesky Are you serious?
Epic launcher updates are even worse.
Steam, although mandatory, you can legally downgrade to an older build version using nav console.
In Epic launcher, something like "Skyrim Downgrade Patcher" would be tagged illegal just like a cracked/pirated game.

GOG it's the sweet spot IMHO, Microsoft seems to hate it though.. all the old TES is there, but honestly, I don't think we'll ever see TES V Skyrim (either 32bit or 64bit) there.

I don't know... I usually ascribe to the old adage "Never attribute to malice that which can be more easily explained by incompetence". To me, it seems more likely someone dun goofed than that Bethesda is thinking, "first, we'll pay some modders to create minor DLC. Five years later, we'll quietly release a 'patch' that makes mods using .dll files not work. By 2030, we'll own all the mods and sell them to the players! Mwa-ha-ha! What are the consumers going to do? Play some other fantasy action role-playing game?"

...Of course, it's also possible that benefit-of-the-doubt-ers like me will be exactly how Bethesda does that...

Besides remaining in offline mode, I set the download speed to 1kb and I also only allow updates between 3am - 4am, when my PC is always turned off.  I've managed to stay at 1.5.97 that way as I cannot live without .net and NIG's option to extend grass as far as the eye can see into the LOD.   I've tried LOD grass but it always looks a different colour.

I see that this requires Visual C++ Redistributables 2019. Is this project confirmed to work on the Steam Deck as is in the Proton OS? Or is there something the end user must do?
