    UPDATE: 02/13/2023

I am no longer modding and it doesn't look like I will again in the foreseeable future. I have a whole new career that's taking me away even from game playing. If someone would like to take over or make patches or whatever, you're more than welcome to.

I will stop by now and again for questions or help.

    Update

    6/18/2021

    1.  6/18  Thank you Skinjack? for sending a spreadsheet containing NPCs all across Skyrim.  He's included their Base IDs, names, images, mod author, etc.  See "Optional Files" for download.

    2.  Missed some hairs that were fixed from the breast/weight issue so you wouldn't have to have XPMSE to use.  Fixed Dravynea's skin tone (Kynesgrove).

NOTE:  If you see any more skin tone differences, I found that despite fixing Dravynea's skin, I still had issues.  I fixed this by putting the mod at the bottom of my load order.  There's some clothing conflict, most likely.  Check that first before.  If there are still skin tone issues after that, let me know.

    6/13/2021

New Update coming because I had to fix Nocturnal's skin tone mismatch due to her outfit.  It's been fixed, since I changed that, I may as well add in those two corrected nif heads in downloads.  I hope this will be the last update.

    6/8/2021

    1.  My pal Lamenthia took it upon herself to remove the breast bones from some of the nifs that are requiring you to download XPMSSE.  Because she's awesome like that.  That part is done.

    2.  There are some NPCs who seem to have bottom teeth protruding upward too much.  It's not extreme but it's bugging the heck out of me.  I don't know why some are doing this and others are not since I never once touched the teeth at all.  But, I found that if I go back into RaceMenu, move the teeth down, it fixes the problem.  Some have a slight underbite, but it's minimal.  I tested each one, talked to them, and I'm not annoyed, so I'm happy.

    3.  Which is completely unlike me, I missed renaming a couple of head parts in two head nifs.  Instead of spending an hour reloading four files... again.  Just download the head nif file in downloads and overwrite when prompted.  That will prevent 2 NPCs from getting blackface.

Any issues you may come across, please let me know.

    ____________________

Here are three ladies that I edited their teeth to fix.  They still jut up a little, but it was nothing compared to what they had.  Some were worse than others.  They still have the underbite, but for me, I'm OK with that.  I have lower teeth that show when I talk and not my top teeth.  If your NPCs are worse than this, then, I'm at a complete loss.  I've poured over this issue and my working the teeth in RaceMenu addressed this problem for me.  If anyone has any clues, I'm all proverbial ears.

Please Read Before Problems or Questions You May Have

NOTE: Every time I see the word 'blackface bug,' I get an eye twitch.  Please really read ALL my instructions.  Please read the posts below.  This has been addressed so much, I need a therapist.  I joke, but really...  99.9% of the time it is a mod conflict.

    1. If you want my male overhaul, you can find them at Pride of Skyrim.

    2. There are a few female NPCs that give you a choice between warpaint or not warpaint. You do not have this choice for the packed BSA version because it doesn't have separate texture files.

    3. I have dramatically changed most of the female NPCs. I've tried my best to keep them relatively realistic while avoiding vanilla.  Do NOT expect vanilla characters. Why bother doing all this work for vanilla? Some are pretty while I tried to make others not so much and some are older without making them elderly.

I also tried to make siblings, parents/older children look closer alike.

    4. I have not overhauled Forsworn, guards, bandits, and a few that had records that didn't allow for editing. There are also only a couple of Orcs. Orcs have been a huge thorn in my side and I think I can recreate them in their own, separate .esp. Ghorza, the blacksmith in Markarth is one of those issues I will add later to the Orc mod.

    4.  If you find some NPCs are running around in the buff, just go up to them, open your console, click on the NPC and type resetinventory.  They should now be dressed.  If not, make sure you didn't accidentally reset your own inventory.

    5. Before you ask, I will be eventually doing Dragonborn and Dawnguard DLCs. I already completed HearthFire.

    6. Purple Hair Issues: When you use multiple NPC overhauls and move things around, you will need all the hair mods installed that I have used, or else you will lose the hair mesh and will give the NPC hair a purple color. The only way I could have prevented this was to link the textures to the hair meshes. It's not going to happen and no one does that for NPC overhauls. You will need those hair mods to replace the hair mesh that was lost.

    7. If you use the BSA version, do NOT use another female NPC overhaul unless you can edit them in SSEEdit.  You will get brownface.

    8. I will not join all the .esps into one main file. All the .esps are ESL flagged so they won't take up your load order, as well as any patches I made.

    9. Patches: I've only made patches for the Cutting Room Floor and Immersive College of Winterhold. I do not use most other mods that require patches. If you want to make patches, you can do so. Please try to ESL flag them. If you don't know how you can DM me.

    • a)  I'm only just learning patches, so if you have any issues, you can post them or do a bug report.
    • b)  AI Overhaul patch can be found HERE.

    10. I appreciate your need for an extensive list of NPCs when using multiple NPC mods.  But I created this mod so there is no need for multiple mods.  If you choose to use multiple NPC mods, the responsibility falls on you to keep track of your NPCs.  You have two options to find out who is who. 1) Open up my mods in SSEedit, sort the NPCs to alphabetized, and make your list with their IDs.  2) Or, you can go to my images where I have every female I created with their name and location.

But, if you choose to use multiple NPCs, there are a few resources right here in sticky notes.

    11. IMPORTANT:

The majority of my comments regarding my work have been wonderful, highly positive, and encouraging.  Then there are those who do not like my mods but move on.  That is the mature thing to do.  But there are those in this world who insist on giving their entitled input.  Toxicity is not welcome.  I try to give my mod pages a positive environment while trying to help people get the most out of my mods.  Yet, while I am a happy person, I don't have the patience for entitlement.  I will be blunt.

If you do not like my mods, you are free to find what you like elsewhere.  Free will is a wonderful thing.  Modders work very hard making their creations for you all that is FREE.  Don't be that person who complains about free stuff.  The gaming industry is toxic enough.  Let's keep things positive and fun.  If you don't like my mod, do not comment on how much you hate it or what you don't like about it. Those kinds of comments benefit no one.  That includes in email.  I do not care about your perceived entitlement.

I make this statement for a reason after getting nasty comments and harassment when I was creating male NPCs.  I am just stopping it in its tracks to help curb any nastiness before it happens to keep this thread friendly.

    From member Sattyre:

For anyone who is having issues with black face:  Black face is most often caused by out-of-order assets compared to esps.  How you load your assets is just as important as the load order for your esps.   Asset order and esp order must stay consistent.  If you have any other NPC overhauls the assets for them must be in the same order as the esps.  Many mods also have facegen in the esp that will revert any overhaul back to vanilla.  I always recommend overhauls be placed very low in the load order.  It is safe to drop them to the bottom of your load order just above your bashed or smashed patch if you use those.  LOOT works very well in most cases but can be ignored in the case of NPC overhauls.

If you need a patch for mods in your load order, such as AI overhaul, that patch needs to go directly under the overhaul it patches.  If you need more than one patch, they need to be combined into one patch for both to work

It is completely ok to use different overhauls together, as long as asset and esp load orders match.  The lower records will just overwrite the records above it.  Unmatched assets and esp load orders will always produce black faces.   As an example, I have over 40 NPC overhauls in my load order without any issues.

    More infinite wisdom from sattyre:
I made a tutorial for merging NPC overhauls if you're interested.  Even if you don't merge them,  the rules still apply.  You can find it here

Using SSEEdit with multiple NPC mods:

If you want to remove NPCs from my mod, you can do so in SSEEedit. It looks daunting, but if I can do it, seriously, anyone can because I'm a techno-idiot. When you open SSEEdit after downloading, it will bring up all your mods. Right-click anywhere and click 'show none' or something to that extent so it unticks all the mods. Then at the top search for my mod by name (PA44 will do). Double click the mod. It will open up all the assets in my mod. Go to Non-Playable Characters, right-click and click remove (not remove filter) for each character you want to get rid of. It will ask you if you're sure, just click yes. Save mod (see the three dashes at the top left? Click that and it will give you the option to save mod.) That's it. You will only have whatever NPCs you want in there. THEN you need to go to the other mod you want to replace my NPC with and delete theirs.

For example: If you only want my Aela from the Companions, you can remove all my NPCs and leave her in there. If you have another NPC mod that changes the Aela, you will need to REMOVE her from that NPC mod that you are replacing to prevent the blackface bug.

    __________

    Sattyre tacked on additional instructions:

Just to add to PoeticAnt44's explanation on how to delete NPCs from an overhaul.  Open your overhauls in Xedit.  open the NPC tab and find the NPCs you want to remove.  Either write down their formid, (the 8 digit number at the far left) or open the overhaul while xedit is also open.  You need to remove both the facetint and the facegeom, collectively known as facetints from both the meshes and texture folders for each NPC you are removing.  You will find them here:

    textures\actors\character\FacegenData\FaceTint\Skyrim.esm
    meshes\actors\character\FaceGenData\Facegeom\Skyrim.esm

This is in addition to removing the NPC record from the esp.  Failure to delete all three almost always results in blackface.

The 8 digit formid is identical to the number in front of the facetint in both meshes and textures.  This is Aela The Huntress' formid  0001A696 as an example.

If you do this, though, you do so at your own risk.

So, I've never been able to get Delphine to show up in any way except vanilla.  Recently there have been a couple of other characters who just...dropped their overhaul for some reason?  I'm not sure what happened because I didn't add or change anything between this change of the new ones.  I've gone into XEdit and the mod folders to take out the textures and meshes so the dark face isn't showing up anymore, but I'm very confused on what might be happening.  Any ideas?

Still don't know what a mipmap is. I created the face in RaceMenu, downloaded the face tint and nif head. Used Creation kit, SSEEdit, and Nifscope. The face tint is downloaded directly from RaceMenu. It's been two years. Perhaps people do it differently now.

This was a process that other modders used at the time.

@PoeticAnt44 mip maps are repetatively smaller texture images for when you are far away. I am not certain what the poster here is talking about mip maps are generally used for things like architecture and what have you.

@morvar42 mip maps are not necessary for NPC replacers. I am unaware of anyone that includes them for replacers like this. Heads are so small by the time they'd be a distance that mip maps would matter they'd be irrelevant.

For some reason I can't get this to work on Karliah from the Thieves Guild. She just shows up as vanilla. Is she grouped under Riften? I'm trying to figure out where the conflict lies. I also run ICOW but I installed the needed patches and those NPC's are fine. It seems to be just Karliah that won't load properly and I have no idea how to fix it.
*edit: I don't use any other npc overhaul mod.

*Another question, could it be that the overhaul causes decapitation issues where after decapitation there's just a hole where the neck stump should be? I see there's a patch for high poly heads but not this mod. I tried downloading that but it tells me I need the HPH master and I'm not sure if I can just download that on top of your mods CW and POS respectively since HPH is already baked into those.

Great mod, but for some reason the NPCs' skin are quite dark even with Bijin Skin, I've seen other comments about that here but none that could solve the issue.

Edit: Just realized it's not really a problem, more like the style of this mod. It's fairly good, just a bit different.

I don't know what ENB that is since I can't find it. Have you tried a different ENB? Now I did darken their skin a little when I built these because I found the originals too pale. But as you can see from my images, they aren't that dark. That's the only thing I can think of. But there's nothing wrong with the mod per se.

Switch your ENB. See if there's a setting on your current ENB. Other than rebuilding the mod, the answer is no beyond that.

you are a f***ing mad man.. holy s*** I can't believe I spent all that time with Bijin and installed this one incredible creation of High Poly Head and this.. and I solved every little issue I've ever had.. congrats on making the single best NPC female/ and soon male (once I finish downloading) overhaul yet. High Poly Head is literally the god among all texture mods hidden in this void. Also, I wish you great luck on your career because you just made skyrim a full Triple A game again with this mod.

    - me

Also, if you're stuck on how to get hair physics, just use SimpleItemSpawner for the time being and just spawn in wigs for your NPCs... by now I don't even care about having a mod to replace all of these NPCs hairs. I mean you only look at one or two most of the time anyway. Unless if one released and I'm unaware, please throw me a link.

I also have a question to ask. Does your Courageous Women and Pride of Skyrim also cover the DLC content such as Serena? If not, anything you could recommend or maybe you could direct me to another one of your gold creations? Because you seem to have the right idea about which to choose and create for high poly head.

I don't, actually. Race mods are the one thing I stay away from. Have parallax, 4k textures, high poly heads, racemenu, and the required mods to make those ones work.

I don't have any other race mods, or custom race mods. Incidentally, I just downloaded this mod and that seems to have SIGNFICANTLY reduced the eyeball-clipping, hair clipping, and other things.

Presumably because even the SE version is the AE version now, even if you haven't "officially upgraded", you still have an update that takes you to 1.6.640, as opposed to the AE version 1.6.353, and that may have made enough of a difference.

The problem is still the CC menu through racemenu doesn't put Altmer in high-poly heads, despite that. Even if it does fix the severe facial features clipping. NPC faces are high poly, but not the player faces for some reason.

Okay, I don't know anything about AE, I haven't played this game in the beginning of 2022. I never updated or upgraded. As for HPH, it works for NPCs and not the player because you have to set the slider (the first slider tab... can't remember which slider) in Race Menu to read HPH.

this is the best npc overhaul in my opinion the quality is just extremly high and still keeps the vanilla feel of the npc's most of the time.
together with your male overhaul its just an amazing experience keep up this amazing work. love it.
but i miss hair physics, that would make it just perfect. but still will choose this over others even if they got hair physics.
just because you keep the vanilla feel pretty good in most cases.
