About this mod
Fast travel is no longer free as it now requires the usage of stones that can be bought from most wizard merchants, serving as a late game money sink and quality of life improvement.

Why did I create this mod?
Oftentimes playing without/with disabled fast travel loses a lot of its challenge after a few ingame hours, devolving into a monotonous traversal of the same old routes you have seen numerous times before. A big contributor to this decline is Skyrim's quest design which was clearly made with fast travel in mind, as it frequently forces you to travel to the opposite side of the map for the most minute of tasks or has you revisit the same locations repeatedly.
As a solution to the aforementioned problems, I came up with the idea of adding purchasable stones into the game which can be used to temporarily allow the player character to use the vanilla fast travel mechanic. These stones are rather expensive in order to avoid trivializing the "no fast travel" experience during the early levels (their price is 10% higher than a filled Grand Soulgem) and can only be bought from various wizard merchants, thus creating another money sink to balance out the economy at later levels.
A quick summary of the features:
- Fast Travel disabled by default
- Fast Travel is better integrated into the gameplay as it now comes at a (gold) cost
- Stones of Aetherial Transportation can be bought from various wizard merchants around Skyrim.
- Stone of Aetherial Transportation
- Can be used while fast travel is disabled to temporarily reenable it (either until you fast travel to a location or use a carriage).
Known quirks:
As I wanted to keep things simple, fast travelling will still advance the time/date.
If you need an ingame explanation, just pretend this is a side-effect of the stone's magical properties.
