In past Elder Scrolls games skill usage had a direct influence on your attribute growth as each skill level up contributed to the level up modifier of
its governing attribute. Skyrim did away with this in favour of a simpler and more linear way of increasing your health, magicka and stamina by
letting you choose a
fixed amount at each level up.

This mod's goal is to combine the past and present with a new system inspired by the way Skyrim handles NPC leveling.



Highly customizable through MCM or bat file:
  • Change the amount of attribute points, their relation to skills, how they are distributed and how skill levels influence the distribution or make automated custom builds

(Take a look at "Customization" for some of SAAL's applications)


By default SAAL...

... automatically distributes attribute points based on the skills you used when you level up:
  • Skill level ups grant "attribute exp." to determine the percentage of points to assign to each attribute
  • Higher skills = more exp.

... increases carry weight based on your health and stamina

... adds a journal to keep track of the current attribute point distribution



Differences between 2.0 and Legacy


v2.0:
  • MCM and bat file usable for customization
  • Attribute allocation handled inside the menu
  • SKSE and SkyUI required to function

Legacy:
  • Only bat file usable for customization
  • Attribute allocation happens after closing the menu (Health will be subtracted, pop up shows real stat distribution)
  • No additional requirements



If installing v2 or higher make sure you have the latest version of SKSE and SkyUI 5.2 or higher installed

Simply drag and drop the content of the archive into your Data folder and activate the .esp either in-game or with a mod manager.





Compatibility:
Conflicts with any mod changing levelupmenu.swf
Just let SAAL overwrite any files and you're good to go.

The following examples use the default values found in the spreadsheet below


Example 1
Distribution with disabled skill modifier

Let us assume we gained:
  • 4 levels in One-handed
  • 3 levels in Sneak
  • 2 levels in Conjuration
  • 3 levels in Smithing

for a total of 1200 exp. split into 455 for Health (38%) , 295 for Magicka (24%) and 450 for Stamina (37%)

The percentages will be applied against our 10 attribute points as follows:
  • The highest percentage takes priority and gets rounded up (38% of 10 = 4 health)
  • The lowest gets rounded down (24% of 10 = 2 magicka),
  • The one in between receives any remaining points (10 - 4 - 2 = 4 stamina) 

By default carry weight equals Stamina * 0.5 + Health * 0.34 rounded down to the nearest whole number (4 * 0.5 + 4 * 0.34 = 3)

All exp. will be reset to 0 thereafter.



Example 2
Influence of skill levels on attribute exp. with default skill level modifier (25)

This time we gained:
  • 1 level in One-handed (24 -> 25)
  • 1 level in Smithing (19 -> 20)
  • 1 level in Destruction (54 -> 55)

Without enabled skill modifier this equals 300 exp. split into
125 for Health (41%) , 110 for Magicka (37%) and 65 for Stamina (22%)

With enabled modifier the exp. will be multiplied by 1 + skill level / skill modifier

One handed will yield
60 * (1 + 25 / 25) = 120 for Health ; 10 * (1 + 25 / 25) = 20 for Magicka ; 30 * (1 + 25 /25) = 60 for Stamina

Smithing
55 * (1 + 20 / 25) = 99 for Health ; 25 * (1 + 20 / 25) = 45 for Magicka ; 20 * (1 + 20 /25) = 36 for Stamina

Destruction
10 * (1 + 55 /25) = 32 for Health ; 75 * (1 + 75 / 25) = 240 for Magicka ; 15 * (1 + 75 / 25) = 48 for Stamina

for a total of 700 exp. split into 251 for Health (36%) , 305 for Magicka (44%) and 144 for Stamina (20%)



Example 3
Static attribute exp. to achieve a custom build

Turning off the skill modifier and setting all skills to the same exp. yield allows you to gain specific attribute increases when leveling up

For a
3 / 5 / 2 build all you have to do is to set all skills to 30 Health , 50 Magicka and 20 Stamina
