Interesting Bodies - A BodyGen Preset

Interesting Bodies is an extremely intricate and customizable body overhaul, consisting of BodyGen files detailing individual morphs for every single female (for now) NPC in Skyrim, and several other mods which I plan to cover. Its purpose is simple - Manually assign every eligible NPC a fitting, mostly-non-randomized BHUNP/UUNP-based body-type to maximize diversity and immersion. Thin and beastly vampires, humble (and occasionally voluptuous) commoners, ripped warriors, muscled miners, curvy nobles, all with a reasonable quantity of outliers and character-based choices.

The lore, circumstances, fighting-style (NOT in-code class), perceived age and personality of each unique NPC was kept in mind while picking their preset, and very major modded NPCs/followers have a selection of alternate yet fitting morphs they can take on through your choices in the FOMOD installer.
Additionally, if you are a mod author and believe I haven’t given your characters an appropriate body, feel free to DM me and I’ll add an alternate version fitting to your original vision :)

There is also a LITE version with only a few handpicked changes (consistent bodies for some NPCs with several IDs, Rhiada being with child), and without the realism of the original. It was constructed for my light modprofile, and I hope it'll bring some variety to the few of ya out there who've also tried this body type!

Setup (Don’t worry, it’s easy!)

First, verify that BHUNP (or TBD) and its requirements (XPMSSE, BodySlide, SKSE - Physics OPTIONAL), as well as RaceMenu are installed correctly.

Then, launching BodySlide, batch build your body and all of its outfits with ZEROED SLIDERS and MORPHS ENABLED. It should look like this.

Afterwards, install this mod. If using the full version, tick options in the FOMOD wisely, as once your save is loaded, the morphs are baked into it - They will not change (except for unmorphed NPCs) if you reinstall the mod with different options.

Then, if playing a woman, morph yourself to your desired shape using the in-game RaceMenu morphs menu. Or use a separate set of body and armour meshes for yourself with one of those mods like Unique Character, your call! :D

NOTE: Keep in mind you’ll need BHUNP-fit meshes for the morphs to actually show on clothed NPCs. Shiva’s excellent UUNP Vanilla Outfits Bodyslides plus syb888’s UUNP Creation Club Outfits Bodyslides should cover everything vanilla. Be sure to check if your modded outfits have patches - It may also be worth looking on the Oldrim Nexus for UUNP refits and porting them yourself (Immersive Armours refits can be acquired this way!). They’ll work out-of-the-box with BHUNP. TBD comes with its own vanilla replacers, but you may need to convert other armours yourself, as there is... Not much support for this body, unfortunately.
If not, the only option is either accepting the discrepancy or converting them yourself with Outfit Studio. If you choose to go down the latter path, please ask the original author’s permission to post it on Nexus - All of us alternative body enthusiasts would appreciate it!

Options

There’s four major options for the mod’s base install. These are:
  • Absolute Insanity - All Random, which assigns all 100 bodies to NPCs on a completely arbitrary basis upon first save load. It doesn’t omit hypersexual morphs like the other 3 modes, too. Absolutely not intended for serious playthroughs. Get ready for massive titty grannies.
  • Immersive Random - Base Rules Only, which simply contains a basic list of morphs to be assigned at random upon first save load per race. Orcs, Nords and Redguards will be buff, others will be average, vampires will be extra thin, old people will look old, beastfolk will be mostly random, and if you’ve any mods that add female Dremora, those will be buff and voluptuous. This also has a choice between Semi-Realistic and Diehard Immersive, detailed below. This doesn’t have the star-of-the-show nuance of the handpicked version, but might help if you want something simple and similar to other bodygen mods.
  • Handpicked Only - Default, which only contains the character-specific morphs for every unique and non-unique character in the vanilla game that this mod was made for. It won’t cover characters from unsupported mods, but it should prevent any weirdness with the player character getting morphed or base rules acting up.
  • Immersive Random + Handpicked, which should theoretically allow for the mod’s characteristic handpicked morphs to function together with base rules to fully cover unsupported mods, but it does not have the player character morphing weirdness-prevention, and it is untested. I’m not sure if the manual rules will override the base morphs every time. If any oddities are encountered, let me know. It also has the Semi-realistic vs. Diehard Immersive choice for the base rules, so you aren’t missing out on that by picking this.
Additionally, for a few mods, you will be prompted with a simple “Semi-Realistic” and “Diehard Immersive” choice. The former typically includes somewhat “questionable” bodies such as ZGGB-R2 and Demonfet, while the latter is far stricter about realism and has a smaller percentage of outliers. This currently applies mostly to several mods which add guards, patrols and adventurers, as well as the base rules.

And for a few extras, there’s usually choices for followers and unique NPCs. These will be detailed in the FOMOD when you run into them. #

The Lite version/s have no FOMOD, at least yet.

This selection is mostly based on mods I personally use, and a few I knew would be requested and that didn't warrant testing. The lite version requires no patches.
How, Exactly, was this made?
I played the game, went through the UESP pages for Every Single NPC in Skyrim, and manually assigned them presets based on my game knowledge + their descriptions.

For bandits, guards and generic mobs, I filled them in using a random selection of buff presets for the melee/archers, and commoner presets for the magi and cultists. Vampires and Afflicted were filled in with unnaturally thin or otherwise very petite bodies as well, except for unique ones which were given the manual treatment of course. Vampires which are camouflaged into society were given more normal-looking bodies, and Serana has many alt options to choose from.

Modded NPCs were a little bit more difficult. NPC mods with documentation were made the same way as vanilla NPCs, but many had to be verified ingame to make sure non-generic NPCs had fitting bodytypes. This is also why there’s so many unreleased patches. I want to verify, but that takes time, and I don’t want to spoil myself those mods. I’m a player too!

This entire concept was done on a whim because I wanted a nuanced NPC body overhaul instead of just Nords Buff Imperials Smol. It took over a week of 5+ hours a day of playing with bodygen to complete. Please give me a hug I’m tired :c

Planned Support
If you are willing to test these patches and provide spoiler-free reviews and proposed changes to NPC bodytypes, or are an author and want to specify to me what bodies you want for each NPC, Please DM me. It’d save me so much work. Keep in mind not all modded NPCs will show their morphs - Part of the reason this mod was made is to encourage BHUNP conversions!

Compatibility
Due to the nature of this mod, it should be compatible with almost anything. No, seriously. If someone somehow manages to break this, I will eat my shoe. But here’s a few notes:

  • Fully compatible with everything. This doesn’t directly edit any NPCs, just distributes morphs. Bijin, Ordinary Women, Pandorable’s, Fresh Face, VHR, anything should be fine.
  • Fully compatible with anything that edits NPCs in general, for that matter. Loot mods, race mods (so long as they don’t have unique body meshes - And even then, that’ll just make it so the morphs don’t show on ‘em), racial bonus overhauls, whatever. Fair game.
  • Fully compatible with SAM Light’s class-based bodygen morphs, but ONLY IF YOU INSTALL THE BODYGEN2 OPTION FROM THE FOMOD SO ITS INIS DON’T CONFLICT WITH MINE!
  • Clothes without BHUNP/UUNP bodyslides won’t break anything, they just won’t show the body shape of the wearer, and may sometimes cause seams.
  • NPCs with unique body meshes won’t be affected by this. I’d recommend making a patch to force them to use default body meshes so that the morphs can show! However, keep in mind unique bodies are sometimes 100% necessary for a small minority of modded characters. Not everything needs to be morphed! (see: Khash, Ran).
  • Probably compatible with things like zEBD. Just don’t change the bodygen of the females with it, as this already does that. Hairs, textures, etc are definitely fair game though.
  • Not compatible with CBBE, TMBE, UNPR, etc. This was designed for BHUNP. Whatever body you choose for your men doesn’t matter though (For now).
  • Not compatible with other BodyGen presets IF THEY OVERWRITE THIS ONE DIRECTLY. Though I think every other one that exists on the Nexus is for CBBE? So I don’t think that matters.
  • Probably not compatible with ECE? Unless you somehow also have RaceMenu?
Potential Future Plans
  • Interesting Bodies 2.0 - OBody Edition (with MEN!) The Boys Update
  • Interesting Faces - A Purist’s Facegen Overhaul (coming someday?? maybe??)
  • Strange Sons of Aldmeris - Lore Patches for NPC Overhauls (coming someday?? maybe??)
  • The Stranger - A Dremora Bard Companion (VERY SUPER EXTREMELY LONG-TERM NO ETA EVER HELP NEEDED YADDA YADDA)
Possible FAQ
  • Are you insane?
    • Considering I sat down for a week and a half staring at UESP articles and messing around in JBS2BG just to vanquish ripped grandmas from my game, probably yes.
  • CBBE when?
    • CBBE, in my opinion, doesn’t have a fifth of the possibility for immersive diversity as UUNP, or even TBD (though 3BA helps). I’m also not redoing this entire colossal effort for a body I don’t even use. If you want something similar, try Wrong BodyGen - It’s like a slightly enhanced version of the Immersive Random setting of this mod. Or simply mess around with BOSSE or zEBD if you don't want a premade preset.
  • Men when?
    • YES, ACTUALLY. I am EAGER to do men justice. It just so happens that, while this was being made, the only options for men were SAM Light (which only has two sliders and not much support) and SMMB (which is hosted on a very shady website with paid mods and thieves). I also can't release the half-finished bodygen preset I'd made for men a while later when Talos Blessed released, since that's no longer on the Nexus.
  • M’rissi when?
    • That’s one mod I refuse to do. You’re free to do your own bodygen in the style of this megapreset for yourself, and do what you want with it, but I couldn’t make it through ten minutes of M’rissi and I am not trying again. I’d be willing to host it myself as an add-on for this mod even, but I won’t test it myself.
  • Rigmor of Cyrodiil when?
    • Only after the reboot is done. Then I’ll get to it.
  • TBD when?
    • … I’d consider it, at least as a joke. (EDIT: There's a Lite version now. Have at it.)
  • Heritage when?
    • I am very fond of Heritage for the same reasons I love Diverse Skyrim, Diverse Guards and OBIS, but the author of that mod has mentioned they might redo it, and I’d rather wait for that. :o
  • [Something] Wenches when?
    • I did Immersive Wenches in a mostly-randomized way because I knew people were gonna ask for it. It was already too much for me. I might do it if it’s requested, but I will absolutely mostly randomize it. I’d recommend doing it yourself.
  • GLENMORIL/UNSLAAD when?
    • When it’s finished, my friend. Good things take time.
  • Why’d you give 7B Bombshell to mages?
    • I wanted a few outliers, and when I originally made this fully-randomized for myself, a lot of college students had it and I quite liked how it looked on ‘em. :D
  • I don’t like what you picked for [X] NPC.
    • Go ahead and manually edit it with JBS2BG, or by hand - I provided JBS2BG-readable files for vanilla and some of the patches. Or, if you don’t like my choices in general, try messing around with zEBD or BOSSE to create your own custom bodygen experience!
  • Is this a lewd mod? Where’s the big booba????
    • There absolutely are very curvy NPCs in this mod’s choices. But none are way super too unrealistic nor do they appear too frequently. This is not a lewd mod, this is an immersion mod. I might even make a purist-er version in the future if it is requested of me. The TBD version is rather unrealistic, but the absurdly huge gazongas are actually not that common with this mod even then.
  • Why are there unmorphed NPCs? I want an imaginary refund!!! >:C
    • For some reason, BodyGen seems to have a limit of how many characters it morphs on cell load. Just go open doors real fast. You'll know it's working because (In my experience, at least) your game will freeze slightly for a moment while it's morphing NPCs.
  • I went to change some of the existing morphs, but the NPCs won’t change shape again. How do I fix this?
    • I used to think there was no way on SE, but the great and mighty asdasfa made me aware that there is indeed a NetImmerse Override Cleaner SE. Problem is, it’s only available on LL, so I’m not sure if I can link to it. Still, a quick google search should yield you what you need. Running that on your SKSE co-save should be able to clear your existing morphs and change what you like.

ZOMG WHAT MODS ARE IN THE SCREENSHOTS???
I cannot give you my full load order due to the simple fact that it is over 1200 mods long. Yes, you read that right. However, I will now list some of the relevant ones.
Faces are an eccentric mix of Markarth Side Refine, Whiterun Hold Refine, Housecarls Refine, Consistent Older People and Vanilla NPCs Ruhmastered for everything else. Some of these (esp. Ruhmastered) might eventually get replaced by Interesting Faces when/if I get around to actually making it.

Texture-wise, I'm currently using Women of Skyrim and Tempered Skins for Males. Some of the misc. mods that you might recognize in the screenshots were Ennead Banners, Rustic Clothing, Noble Skyrim, 3D Trees, Extravagant Interiors, an Apachii DE clothing integration mod, HITS, Rudy's HQ Misc candle textures, Rustic Windows, Covereyes, Opulent Outfits, and gods know how many mods I had on my testing player character.
As for lighting - Touch of Natural Tamriel ENB, ELFX and NAT 2.0 do wonders for my game. Not so much my FPS, though. Ouch.

Credits
Asdasfa for the amazing JBS2BG, which made this entire insane project possible.
Bakafactory & Haeun for BHUNP, which finally made me switch from regular ol’ UNPB in the first place and also made this entire thing happen.
Expired6978 for making this possible through RaceMenu’s many semi-obscure features.
Ousnius for forcing me to spend like 17 hours in OS converting everything to BHUNP also making this possible through the existence of BodySlide.
Reconcool for the wonderful 7B TankGirl
NaoSou for the great Ecstasy Body
Cp44 for allowing me to play with the incredible Bathsheba Body
Zentience for the delightful FrostMaiden Preset - The skin is also great, check it out :)
TheGreatPablooka for letting me use the [help I ran out of dramatic positive adjectives] LoHi Oppai and Fantasy Figure presets!
Robton for TiddyMcButt, Fantasy Fitness and BAMFTNA and also partially indirectly inspiring this entire project to begin with. Those presets are available on his Discord server if you desire them (seriously go check’em out they’re incredible)
Wenderer for FOMOD Creation Tool

Additionally, for the Lite version:

Rex7Dragon95 for the Safe For Work TBD preset.
Wurmy2000 for allowing me to use his TBD Classic preset.
Cha for the Spheres, Dibellic Gains, Dualism and Yes Pls TBD presets.
WaCrex for the WCX TBD presets.
Shiva182 for the Shiva Body TBD preset.
Slash197 for the Nordic Leg Day TBD preset.
TheMilkDrinker for creating the Touched by Dibella body in the first place.
... And myself, for the presets of my own that I created for this mod. They're not that good, but I hope you'll enjoy'em anyway. Not much variety in the lite ver, mostly because I was too shy to ask for perms on presets without open asset use. Except Wurmy, he's cool. Thank you man.

Additional-er Credits (Yes, there's more.)

SirJesto for fixing the broken installer and sparing my sanity (And everyone else who helped for trying before him, too.)
DaveC for teaching me about BodyGen and withstanding my constant stupid questions because I would’ve never found out it existed otherwise.
Arbigate for emotional support :’v thank you senpai

Generic Permissions Disclaimer

So long as it doesn’t infringe the above authors’ permissions, you’re free to do whatever the fuck you want to these files. Throw ‘em around, send them to a friend, boil ‘em and stick’em in a stew, publish a billion addons in the same style, make a CBBE/asauytasdtgsugadhfdf version... I’d only ask for the absolute minimum permission of crediting me for the initial effort, but even that is a bit ridiculous to me. I’m not presenting you with a masterpiece. In my opinion, any mod I make is a community service that only exists to my name because nobody else bothered to do it before, much less the devs. That, in my eyes, is the spirit of modding.

The only thing I’d like to genuinely forbid is uploading any of my files to websites that host paid mods - Fuck those.

Contact
I am a little scared of Nexus’ messaging system - I’ll pop out to ask for permission on any assets that have their perms set to ask first, but that’s the only time I’ll ever message first. Generally, if you msg me, It won’t be an instant or very elaborate response.
