ighly Evocative Fantasy Technicolor ReShade Preset
What is H.E.F.T.?

H.E.F.T. is a ReShade preset that is designed to offer a unique take on the game's existing visuals. Emphasis is placed on the "High Fantasy" genre of which Skyrim is a part. This is accomplished with saturated and vibrant colors coupled with an enhancement to the effect that light sources have on surrounding textures. This essentially takes it in the complete opposite direction as many other presets which instead strive for realism.

Although, this approach might arguably be more realistic than you think. Interior light sources in medieval times (magical or otherwise) are far less likely to be "white" like modern light bulbs, and will therefore simply play off the color of that light source. If you need a demonstration, turn on a smart bulb in a dark room with no other light sources and change the color to red. Everything will be red. Or go the old fashioned route and see what a campfire does in full dark. Everyone next to the fire will glow red and orange.

Still, this type of over-saturation of color will definitely not be for everyone at first glance, but it's worth considering due to the effects that color can have on the "feeling" of your surrounding environment.
For Nordic ruins, you'll either get a sense of death and decay in the surface areas with ambient sunlight, or oppressive heat in the deep narrow corridors that are only illuminated by torches and candles. Dwemer ruins glow with a greenish corruption brought on by eons of neglect. Falmer caves glow with an ancient and malignant blue mysticism. Blizzards will look and feel more icy and frigid. But on the other hand, inns and hearths will feel much more like a warm and cozy retreat from Skyrim's harsh weather conditions. Forests and caves will feel more alive. And the Hall of Valor will never have looked more heavenly!

H.E.F.T. is designed as an alternative to ENB, offering similarly striking visuals without the same performance impact. The effects used in this ReShade preset are lightweight, and will cause negligible - if any - performance impact on the majority of PCs, unless they are very low-end.

Requirements

ReShade, obviously. And you'll need the following effects (.fx files). Listed by package, you can either install the entire package or select the individual effects. Up to you. For existing ReShade users, if you're not sure you have these packages, you can just run the installer again to update your collection.
SweetFX  by CeeJay (Curves.fx, Technicolor2.fx, Vibrance.fx)
Color Effects by prod80 (PD80_04_Selective_Color_v2.fx)
Legacy Standard Effects (GaussianBlur.fx) ...deactivated in v2.1

Soft requirements:
"Soft" meaning, I haven't done any testing with other lighting mods, so this is only to guarantee the same look as in my screenshots. Based off of the way my presets work, however, theoretically everything should have the same effect! I don't know if that applies to ENB's, though; you'll have to let me know.

Obsidian Weathers and Seasons
Dolomite Weathers - Turns out I thought I was using Obsidian, forgetting that I switched to Dolomite a long time ago. (Derp.) Commenters have said that it looks good with Obsidian regardless. Just goes to show that it doesn't matter! HEFT should work fine with -any- lighting mod.

Installation Instructions

  • Install ReShade. Choose the shader packages (or individual effects) listed in the requirements above.
  • Drop my preset (HEFT.ini) to your main Skyrim installation folder (the one with SkyrimSE.exe, not the Data folder where other mods go).
  • Open the ReShade overlay in-game (default hotkey = "Home") and select the preset (HEFT.ini).
