Used to be that the transparency fix would cut off some of the decal, but you wouldnt see the squares. I don't believe that's a thing anymore with the latest version.
sadly I must report not working, I have VR but that shouldn't make a difference. Also as you can see, similar overlay darkening is visible on road meshes and also on blood splatter and other decals. Is there some kind of group fix for those? Using Rudy enb with multiple texture mods, this is nordic snow mod.It happens only on snow and body, I heard the issue is something with subsurface scattering?
Yes I do have the mod last in my MO list and esp list, nordic snow first, then blended roads, then the fix. (then synthesis patch for skyvraan last, nothing else below them) I reinstalled all three, still the same issue. This fix reports overwriting only the other two, nothing else in the whole load order.
hhhhhmmmmmmm. I don't use VR or Rudy's ENB, so I can't speak to that. I do use Nordic Snow v3.4.3, so I wouldn't think that to be the issue. To rule out subsurface scattering issues you could try to disable ENB and see if it goes away. If it does, ENB tweaking would be the answer - I just can't direct you on how. Earlier versions of this mod accomplished the transparency fix in different ways, maybe 1.0 would work better for you here?
I tried to google further and the only topic I found was on official ENB forum: http://enbseries.enbdev.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=7639&p=95214&hilit=square#p95214 It suggests enabling something called "Alpha testing" (and alpha blending) on the decals. Do you know what they are talking about? As a person with zero modding experience, I have no idea...
For me, it's the standard Frostbite spell using 3.0.
I think the issue is that 3.0 removed the Archive file entirely, but you still needed the decalfrostimpact01_n.dds texture from 2.0 for the Ice spell fix. I managed to get rid of the transparency issue by extracting the texture file I mentioned and manually add to the 3.0 install.
I will look into this. I forgot the reason we added that normal map in the first place ... that may be why. May be better to add it as a loose file. Cant see the point in loading an archive for the mod for 1 file. That may also be why I dont have the issue, I made the BSA, but doing so doesnt remove the files from my own PC -- so getting rid of the BSA it still loads the loose files.
I was having this issue as well, even with the transparency fix enabled. It turned out to be a conflict with a snow mod I recently started using, Fluffy Snow. If you're using Fluffy Snow, this transparency fix isn't needed, as frost spells blend in with the snow.
