About this mod

Would you like to have more of a necromancer feeling without deviating too much from the vanilla game? This mod adds some useful passives and spells, as well as a small randomly generated quest in order to become a Dragon Priest because, let's face it, a dragon priest is the closest to a Lich in Skyrim.

1. Features
=====================================================================
The plugin is flagged as "ESL" and its extension is ".esp", so that you can place it wherever you want in your mods load list.

All the spells added to the game are obtainable just like their equivalent ones in the vanilla game, based on their level of expertise and corresponding vendors. In addition, they all benefit from the perks that reduce the cost of the spells according to their rank.

Despite Necromancy being legal, the body and soul are still seen as sacred and some spells will be treated as an assault. These spells are coloured in orange.

Necromancy Knowledge (Novice)
When you learn this spell, you gain a new passive that allows you to harvest the life force from fresh corpses. Whenever you desecrate a corpse, your maximum Magicka is permanently increased by 4pts up to a maximum of 100pts. In order to desecrate a corpse, you will also need to have a scalpel (one of the specific Embalming Tools).
In order to run the animation properly, there is a small interval between pressing to start to desecrate and actually desecrating. If you sheathe your weapon(s) and spell(s), it will be faster.

Create a Draugr* (Apprentice)
Allows you to create a scroll to conjure a draugr for a day from a desecrated corpse. You must place a filled Soul Gem within the desecrated corpse before casting the spell. The draugr you obtain will vary according to the Soul Gem within the inventory as follows:
• Petty Soul Gem - Draugr
• Lesser Soul Gem - Restless Draugr
• Common Soul Gem - Draugr Wight
• Greater Soul Gem - Draugr Scourge
• Grand Soul Gem - Draugr Deathlord
• Black Soul Gem - Draugr Deathlord (carries Ebony gear)

All draugrs are randomly generated. The corpse's gender will determine whether the draugr is female or male as well.

Lifelink** (Adept)
When learnt, this spell is a passive added to the player. It works similarly to the Konahrik's Privilege. When the player is below 15% of its maximum health, if any of the conjured draugrs are alive, they will be sacrificed and the player will be healed for 50pts (150pts if the player has the perk Dark Souls) per draugr (unfortunately, only if both draugrs are of different type and/or gender will they count separately). These values are equivalent to a normal Healing Potion (or a Potion of Extreme Healing if the player has the perk Dark Souls), as can be seen HERE.

Become Ethereal*** (Adept)
Allows you to temporarily (10 seconds) transverse your body to another realm. As with the shout Become Ethereal, you become invulnerable but unable to attack for the duration of it. However, you still recover Magicka and Stamina. Useful for when you need to cast a ritual spell and need some time, or to simply let your minions do the work for you... You cannot refresh the spell by casting it while already Ethereal.

Command Undead*** (Expert)
Allows you to turn into allies all undeads up to level 25 around you for 2 minutes. This works similarly to Command Animal.

Expel Undead (Expert)
Allows you to turn to dust very powerful undead creatures up to level 30.

Teleport to Soul Cairn (Expert)
Allows you go into the Soul Cairn (useful if you also use the Reusable Lightning Attractors mod to make Black Soul Gems). While in the Soul Cairn, casting the spell will return you to your original location.
ALWAYS USE THE SPELL FIRST OUTSIDE OF SOUL CAIRN, unless you want to get stuck in the void...

Become a Dragon Priest (Master)
Once you have completed the Conjuration Ritual Spell quest, you will be able to purchase from Phinis Gestor a book called "Tome of Unlife". Upon reading it, you will understand the meaning of the symbols, and with the help of the notes written in it, you identify a process that will allow you to obtain the power of Dragon Priests. However, you must first obtain two key ingredients: i) a Powered Up Black Soul Gem; and ii) the Blood of an Immortal. These items will be created in random locations and quest objectives will guide you towards each one of them.
When you have acquired both items, before drinking the Blood of an Immortal, be sure that: i) you have two draugr deathlords (one male and one female); and ii) your HP is below or equal to 20% of your maximum HP (including buffs for the SKSE version).
When you have completed the ritual, you will gain access to the following spells and abilities:

Bound Dragon Priest Staff (Spell) - Allows you to conjure a Dragon Priest Staff on your right hand (the Mystic version has 50% more charges). By default, this staff is of the fire element, but you may change it by writting in console set aaaStaffElement to XX, where "XX" can be either: i) 0 (Fire); ii) 1 (Lightning); or iii) 2 (Frost);

Fire Stream (Spell) - A fire stream that deals a massive amount of damage to Health (it is affected by perks).

Frost Stream (Spell) - A frost stream that deals a significant amount of damage to Health and Stamina for 5 seconds. (it is affected by perks).

Dragon Priest Power (Passive) - Reanimated bodies or summoned undeads last twice as long and you regenerate Magicka 100% faster. Reanimated undead have 100 points more Health (this also affects the draugrs that you create);

Dragon Priest Aura (Passive) - Intimidation attempts are 50% more successful, but the (buying and selling) prices are 20% worse. In addition, you are immune to poisons and diseases, and can breathe underwater.

* Benefits from the perks Necromancy, Dark Souls, and Twin Souls.
** Benefits from the perks Dark Souls and Respite (Restoration perk tree).
*** Benefits from the perk Dual Casting (Conjuration perk tree).

2. Requirements
=====================================================================
- Skyrim Special Edition.
- SKSE (a version of the mod is available so it is not required. However, be warned that the ritual process will consider only the maximum HP without buffs if you are using that alternative version)

=====================================================================
3. Installation
=====================================================================
Either use your favourite mod manager, or extract the .esp and .bsa files to the Data folder, and enable the mod.

=====================================================================
4. Compatibility
=====================================================================
Incompatibilities may arise from mods that:
• Change animations - if your sheating animation takes longer than the vanilla one, the desecrate corpse animation may not run properly. However, the spell itself and everything else will work. It would be simply a visual bug.
• Change vanilla perks - As indicated above, these spells benefit from several vanilla conjuration perks in order to make it as immersive as possible. Even without the perks, the spells should be acceptable.
• Changes to draugrs leveled character lists - the draugrs are randomly spawned from these lists available in the vanilla game.
• Changes to Soul Cairn's markers - modders tend to keep these unchanged, but just leaving the note here.
• As of version 1.5, the perk "Dark Souls" was slightly changed due to the bug reported named "The perk Dark Souls and the Dragon Priest health buff to reanimated undead are not stacking!".

5. Q&A
=====================================================================
Why did you decide to make this mod?
I wanted to make a playthrough similar to a Death Knight and wanted more utility from the Necromancy side of the game.

Why are no spells from this mod appearing at the corresponding vendors?
Please be sure to make a bashed patch (with Wrye Bash for instance), in order for the levelled lists from all your mods to be merged.

Why did you not make a master spell to raise all the undead around you?
I did not think it would fit well, but fortunately there is a mod for that: Army of the Damned.

Is it possible to make the draugr emerge from the ground?
Despite my efforts, I was not able to make only these draugr emerge from the ground, but there is a mod that allows all undead summons to emerge from the ground: Undead summons emerge from the ground. It is compatible with this mod.

Is this mod flagged as ESL?
Yes.

Did you scan for dirty edits?
Yes, I used SSEEdit 4.0.3.
