This mod gives Qa'asha of the delectable Riften Sweet Spot a daughter, a young khajiit girl named Kitima (based off of the adorable Ma'isha) and makes a few other tweaks and additions to make your visit to the candy shop a more immersive experience.

I absolutely adore the mouth-watering wonders of the Candy Shops of Skyrim mod by LogisticsOfBreath but I got to thinking: what would make that mod even better? An adorable khajiit kitten, of course! So using the beautifully designed assets of tktk1's mod (with permission, of course!) that's exactly what I did.

While I was at it, I added a few other things to make the Riften candy shop feel a little more immersive:
  • an oven, so you can see where they actually bake all their delicious baked goods!
  • a few lines of repurposed vanilla dialogue for Qa'asha to giver her a little more personality!
  • swapped out the copy of Nords, Arise! under the counter for the (imo) more appropriate Ahzirr Trajijazaeri.
  • likewise some repurposed dialogue for the new kitten...and even two scenes for the two of them to play-out together!*
  • a triggerbox to cue up extra dialogue once you discover the shop's secret!**
  • a few markers to let Kitima go play outside sometimes -- bonus! If you talk to her when she's outside, she might ask you to join her in a game of tag or hide-and-seek just like the vanilla kids!

*I haven't actually gotten to see these yet...because I missed something in building them? Or because I have bad timing and they aren't happening when I'm in the shop? Not sure! If you see the scenes -- or you take a look at the mod and see what I did wrong -- please let me know!
**I wanted to also give Kitima a line of dialogue to speak when you start fiddling with the suspicious item, but couldn't figure out how to trigger that...if anyone knows and feels like walking me through the process, I would be very grateful!


I also tweaked the lighting and walls/floor of the shop interior to take care of the flickering caused by overlapping textures in the original and to add a little more light to the back room (there's a child playing here, you know!) and of course, I added a bed and some toys for Kitima (along with several idle markers for her to use). As far as I know there are no other mods (yet) that alter the candy shops, so this should not interfere with anything.

Compatibility:
Thanks to the generous Poepkat, there are now versions for both the full installation of the Candy Shops mod and the Riften Shop only. The patch was designed to be used with the original location of the Riften shop in the canals, not the Open Cities version that moves it outside, and the mod has not been tested with that secondary location (but if you run it with that one, please let me know how it goes!).

Other npcs will likely use the (four) idle markers I added to the Riften streets...but that just makes the place feel more alive in my opinion, and they're discreet enough that they shouldn't interfere with any other mods or quests -- unless you've got something that completely redoes the layout of Riften's streets...but in that case, you're unlikely to be able to install the candy shop in the first place so I guess it's a moot point! If you do run across a quest or something that these idle markers get in the way of, let me know and I'll remove them; I just thought it was more fun if Kitima had something to do when she went outside.

If you run into anything else that causes issues please let me know! I am still quite new to modding and stumbling a bit as I figure everything out. This was my first time using voice files, triggerboxes, or even building a patch based off another mod so I honestly wouldn't be surprised if there are a few glitches here and there (although I did my best to playtest and check with SSEEdit, etc, so hopefully you won't run into anything too bad!). If you do find a problem please tell me about it, and I'll do my best to offer a prompt solution. If you know how to fix the problem and don't mind taking the time to walk me through the process, I'll be especially grateful. Thank you! I hope you all enjoy!

Direct permission to use Ma'isha's assets was obtained from the mod author: "Yes, that's fine. Please write credit and link. Feel free to use her, but you can change a color of the snood to make it more unique."
Note that having Ma'isha installed in your game is not necessary for installation of this mod...but why wouldn't you want an adorable little khajiit kitten of your very own to adopt?

This Mod's Use Permissions:
Fully open to anything that does not violate the permission guidelines or credits of the base mods! Go ahead and make adjustment patches to make this mod fit your set-up better! Add additional dialogues or interactions with any of the existing (or new) npcs or interaction patches for your own mods/followers/etc! Flesh-out the other candy shops and tie them all together! Whatever you want to do that is within the bounds of the original mods is 100% welcome. I will gladly link to your files or even host them here if you prefer. Just note that if you want to use the khajiit child assets used in this mod for anything else, you must contact tktk1 for permission first; I cannot give permission for those resources to be used in anything beyond direct patches or alterations to Kitima herself as she is here.
