About this mod
The College of Winterhold will load its full detail models far before it hides the LOD mesh if the area has been modded. This results in a highly visible shimmer which can be seen clearly as you approach. This fix allows the LOD swap to happen much more quickly, as you enter the Winterhold Bridge, when it's much harder to notice.

The College of Winterhold will load its full detail models far before it hides its LOD mesh if the College has been modded. This results in a highly visible shimmer which can be seen clearly as you approach the college. This fix allows the LOD swap to happen as you enter the Winterhold Bridge, where the transition is nearly invisible. It is still possible to see this shimmer while climbing on the cliffs outside of Winterhold City, but the effect is far more brief and occurs in a far more narrow radius from the College.
Please note that this is a fix for a Modded Game. This problem should not exist if your Winterhold College is not modded. If your Winterhold College is modded and you have not noticed the LOD shimmer, then you don't need this fix!
The mod's archive contains a single ESP plugin in the ESP-FE format. Simply install and go! It is also safe to install at any time: no data is put into your save game.
This fix has no master dependency (except the ELFX version) so all sorting must be done manually. All USSEP fixes have been forwarded.
Mods that will benefit from this fix:
- Magical College of Winterhold - The two plugins may be loaded in any order.
- Juniper's College of Winterhold - The two plugins may be loaded in any order.
- Especially Special Winterhold - Our plugin must be loaded after ESW, unless you clean ESW of identical to master records. The order will not matter if you do.
- Enhanced Lights and Effects - An alternate version of this fix is offered for users of ELFX Exteriors. If you are not using Exteriors, you don't need this fix.
- Obscure's College of Winterhold - Not needed: OCW already contains a version of this fix. Using this plugin with OCW will break things.
- Immersive College of Winterhold - Not needed: ICoW already contains a version of this fix.
- College of Winterhold Upgraded - Not needed: there's no shimmer bug with this mod.
- Apepi's Better College of Winterhold - Not needed: there's no shimmer bug with this mod.
- Toberone's Winterhold College - Not needed: there's no shimmer bug with this mod.
- Okata's College - Thriving Edition - Not supported. The changes made to the College are too vast for this fix to work.
- Immersive Music - Our plugin must be loaded after IM, unless you clean IM of identical to master records. The order will not matter if you do.

Q: How does it work?
A: The plugin disables (via enable parent) all of the original references to the College's architectural nifs from Skyrim.esm and replaces them with new records. Why does that work? Honestly... I don't know. :)
Q: Will this fix work on custom built LODs?
A: It should. The fix doesn't change anything in the LOD itself. I'd recommend disabling this mod when building LOD, as it would over-complicate the process, and is designed to be used on an LOD that's already built.

A: Please test it and let me know so I can add it to the list!
