What's new in 4.7.1
Added configuration option to teach Nanak the Candlelight spell. He only uses it sparsely, but maybe this is the start of things to come.
Fixed a "deleted" navmesh in Kagrenzel. You're welcome.
Built framework for follower banter with intended future support for: -- Inigo --Lucifer --Xelzaz
~50 new male combat dialogues for if Inigo is currently recruited.
Approximately doubled the chances for Combat Begin and Combat End commentaries to fire. Let me know if this is overkill.
Kharjo and J'zargo can now be summoned using the Khajiit-attuned Horn.
1) CAN YOU MAKE KWF START SILENTLY, WITHOUT AN ENTRY IN THE QUEST LOG?
There is an Immersive Start patch available in the Files section that does just that. You're welcome!
2) IS KWF COMPATIBLE WITH AFT/OTHER FOLLOWER OVERHAULS?
No. There's a lot going on under the hood with KWF, and using follower overhauls may break KWF followers' AI, resulting in them refusing to follow, following after being dismissed, etc. If you are using AFT, you can do a few things to increase the odds KWF works:
A) ALWAYS recruit and dismiss your follower using the KWF option. NEVER use the AFT option. Your follower will be added to AFT automatically on recruitment, but that is not a problem. B) Many AFT options seem to work fine, but DO NOT use the AFT option ("I need you do to something.") to have the follower do a favor for you, as it will cause their follower AI to bug out. Use the KWF "Will you do something for me?" option instead. Also, using the "Sleep" action command appears to lock you out of AFT options, so avoid it. C) If you aren't a fan of inappropriate dancing during conversations, make sure to include AFT's optional AFT_NoDance downloadable file in your load order. By default, AFT overwrites the IdleCiceroHappy idle animation, so instead of the vanilla "slight raising of the arms and nodding the head in agreement," you get an inappropriate custom AFT dance. 3) I CAN'T FIND S'ARIQ AFTER FINISHING HIS QUEST. WHERE IS HE?
S'ariq hangs out in Whiterun behind Ysolda's house after you finish his quest. If you use a mod like Open Cities, you may not find him. This is because Open Cities creates a 2nd copy of Whiterun in the open world. It is not the "real" Whiterun, wich is still hidden behind a load screen. Refer to Open Cities mod page for how to access vanilla Whiterun. Then set a custom waypoint for S'ariq via the config options.
4) I'M STUCK ON MA'KARA'S QUEST//HOW DO I GET MA'KARA TO MARRY ME? A walkthrough for Ma'kara's quests has been posted in the Articles section. In order to for her to become eligible for marriage, you must complete both quests. Additionally, you must enable marriage by speaking to Maramal in Riften and getting an Amulet of Mara.
5) WHAT ARE THE FOLLOWERS' REFIDs? I WANT TO DO CONSOLE COMMANDS AT THEM.
Check the Khajiit Will Follow: The Book you receive when first starting the mod for RefIDs for most major NPCs/items you could need.
6) HOW CAN I GET MY SPOUSE TO MOVE INTO A CUSTOM HOUSE?
This answer is copied from a comment from user Juqu. I have not tested it and can't confirm it, so if you attempt this, definitely save beforehand.
1) Dancing during conversations: This mod makes use of the IdleCiceroHappy idle. The animation for this idle is replaced with a goofy, immersion-breaking dance by Amazing Follower Tweaks. AFT's modpage has a patch available to revert the idle to its original animation. Highly suggested.
2) Compatibility with Open Cities: Inducting Bikhai into the Companions takes place in the Jorrvaskr training yard, which is in the vanilla Whiterun -- the one behind a load screen -- NOT the Open Cities Whiterun. To complete his ceremony, you'll have to access OG Whiterun. Check Open Cities documentation for how to get into OG Whiterun.
3) Vigilant Patch x Project Ja-Kha'jay Compatibility: Using PJKJ with the Vigilant patch causes some navigation issues for Bikhai due to cramped spaces and his *ahem* largeness. Not much to be done unfortunately, except to use the summoning horn whenever he gets stuck.
4) Potential issues with Khajiit Speak Redux and Hearthfire Multiple Adoptions resulting in some dialogue options not showing up?
5) Vigilant Patch:When bringing Nanak through Vigilant, Khajiit's "Keepsake" conversation will fail to complete, due to an errant dialogue condition. As a rersult, the player will NOT get crredit for returning it. This will be fixed in a future patch, but for now a workaround is to first return the keepsake to Khajiit, and then enter the console command:
I learned a long time ago not to put a date on things. Modding is a hobby, and increasingly, I am limited in the time I have available. RL responsibilities have ramped up, and it feels like I'm getting pulled in a lot of different directions. Makes it tough to keep up any sort of momentum. I have implemented ~2000 of the 2200 lines for Ma'kara's audio, which constitutes all of Acts 1-4. I am going to begin editing her epilogue dialogue, and once it is implemented, I can begin playtesting. That's all that remains, so I'm hoping to be done sooner rather than later, but it depends on how RL responsibilities proceed.
Lines are recorded, yes. There are a few retakes to be done, but nothing substantial. It's all on me to edit and implement them before getting to testing.
There are no major changes in the story, but there may be some key conversations where the follower mentions being your spouse. Yes, I'm looking forward to Ma'kara's implementation too. I know a number of people have been waiting a long time for her, so I hope it's worth the wait. Had to take a brief break to handle another VA role I had with an approaching deadline, but now I think the coast is pretty clear to see it through to the end. :)
Hello again! I accidentally fucked up the proper dialogue choice for Nanak's marriage. Is there any console command or setstage that I can do to reinitiate the conversation? The save is more than a few hours back.
Question. I'm not sure if this is true or not but I wanna ask here just in case. Does this mod work for the Anniversary Edition? I started the game and was going for the Khajit in The Companions but I can't find them, and I didn't get the quest notification. Sorry if I'm asking something that's already been answered.
Shouldn't be any issues with AE vs SE, or any of the different version numbers of AE. Should all work fine. If Bikhai is not in the Companions living quarters, then something is screwy with your load order.
Unfortunately, SmartBlueCat has had real life issues that prevent him from doing any Skyrim-related work any longer. He may return some day, at which point I will definitely ask him about doing interactions, but for now, it's either little quips like Nanak mentioned, or it's conversations using spliced lines from Inigo's already-existing content, which is not optimal. I would like to work directly with SBC on unique conversations, but I am cognizant of my time limitations and his time limitations, as well as the fact that roughly 8 million other follower mod authors also want to work with him), so as much as I would love to do it, I'm not sure if it will ever happen.
Another question, that may or may not have been answered already:
Ive noticed the followers (at least what I’m aware) don’t seem to comment on your race, for example I’m a Khajiit and Nanak doesn’t seem to take note of that
are you ever going to implement race recognition, or something like that? Hope you understand what I’m trying to say I suck at explaining
There is a bit of race-based commentary scattered throughout the mod, but it's definitely not super extensive right now. I would like to incorporate more in the future, yes. The difficulty is that voice work takes me an EXTREMELY long time, so I have tried to limit lines to what the highest percentage of players will hear. Adding comments depending on the player's race also makes it super complicated to build coherent dialogue trees, especially since I have 4 followers already built into the tree. If I add race comments, the tree immediately becomes 4 time larger haha.
Regardless, yes, it's something I want to do eventually.
Again, i think it would be fun, but it's just a matter of time and availability. I plan to try to do follower interactions in the future, time permitting, and Xelzaz is on the list. We'll see how it goes.
Hi! I've not seen anyone else ask about this (maybe I've just missed them), so I thought I'd ask myself.
What's the deal with the Eye of Magrus? I confess, I may have tfc'd just to see what was behind the door that's ajar in the Kagrenzel Area and found four burnt corpses (which I found out served as the followers' extended storage containers) surrounding a weird floating item named as above.
Any insight you can give me on this would be greatly appreciated!
Hey there. Good find! The short answer to your question is that I like to set up fun stuff behind the scenes in my mod occasionally, and you found one of those setups. It doesn't really "mean" anything, beyond the fact that I needed to place the containers for all the followers' non-equipment inventories somewhere in the game world, and that's where I chose to do it. Funfact: The Eye of Magrus was originally just another Eye of the Falmer like the one you find during the Thieves Guild questline, but as a result, it would occasionally get picked as the target for one of Delvin's radiant sidequests. Which is not good since it's, you know, inaccessible. Had to make it a unique item to prevent that.
tl;dr - carry on, nothing to see here. Certainly not any Kirkbride-esque deep lore where all the followers are dead and Magrus has inhabited their bodies to try to twist the player to his own designs. No, no, nothing like that.
If you're updating from the previous version of the Vigilant patch, you should be fine as long as you have not started Vigilant or the Vigilant patch. No guarantees if it's an older version though.
Question, would it be safe to use the mod NPCs use Potions with them 4? This one planned to give magicka potions to Nanak but online research shows that NPCs only use health potions, and rarely, so it'd be great to give custom brews for each of their proficiencies.
I am unfamiliar with this mod, so it's difficult to say whether it will work or not. I do occasionally have scripts that check to see if the follower has a magic effect on them, and if they are using potions that have the checked magic effect, it could potentially cause issues. Not sure! I usually err on the side of caution, but if it's something you want to try, you can definitely let me know how it goes.
Adul-Lla has been having quite a bit of fun with this mod, it has become part of her essential elements for any playthrough, as this one never plays anything other than her kinsfolk. This one thanks you for this.
There does seem to be an issue in my current playthrough, however, Adul-Lla has recruited Ma'kara, Bikhai and Nanak, and she was planning to do so with S'ariq as well, however after talking to him, he mentioned Gatka-Dar but no objetives appeared in this one's journal... and now S'ariq is stuck saying "Greetings" and other 1 line dialogues with seemingly no option to proceed, khajiit has done his quest before, she knows that she needs to go to Traitor's Post and find Gatka-Da, yes? However when this one went there, Gatka-Dar was nowhere to be found, and back in Riften, S'ariq was still stuck in the same state.
Could you provide some assistance for this one? Or perhaps provide me with the quest id and stage to progress the quest artificially, if it's not too much to ask.
It is a great mod indeed, warm sands to you friend, yes?
There is some weirdness with the structure of S'ariq's dialogue tree, where if the conversation is interrupted, he may get stuck and be unable to progress, because none of his dialogue is valid any longer. I believe I have already fixed this for the next update of the main mod, but I'm glad you found a workaround. Best of luck with the rest of your playthrough!
Hello Robbobert, thank you for this mod. I have a question about it. Is there a way to delay starting quests? I'm using Skyrim Unbound and quest messages about your beautiful khajiits before I even create my character break my immersion a bit.
There is no way to delay starting the quests, but there is a patch in the Optional Files section called "Immersive Start" that will turn off the quest notifications. I hope that helps.
