After approaching Zzyxzz about a feature for SkyPatcher to improve the delivery of my replacers, he improved upon the idea and basically created the best feature for NPC replacers I could possibly hope for.  Before that, I was busy designing what I hope to be the best versions of my previous replacers. Bring those two things together and we have the Selects series of replacers.

So what is this new method of making NPC replacers and what other changes have I made to my replacers?

  • Using SkyPatcher, I have basically created replacers that are compatible with ANY mod that alters NPCs (such as mods that add new voice lines and other things)
  • The visual replacer does not touch the original NPC's record at all. When the game loads, it replaces the face and body without touching the NPC record
  • The FOMOD installer allows you to pick which NPCs you want to install.
  • There is only 1 ESPFE plugin no matter how many NPCs you install from this pack.
  • No additional patches are needed to get these replacers working with mods such as AI Overhaul. Again, Selects NPC replacers are compatible with everything
  • Using this replacer pack will result in zero black faces for the NPCs in this pack. Again, no records for those NPCs are touched, and in fact no face meshes or face textures of the original NPCs are overwritten by this mod. All meshes and textures come from my own path away from the originals.
  • I have again redesigned some of the faces of these NPCs to suit my own preferences or faces I wasn't happy with before.
  • There are additional optional addons for this mod such as the SMP Wig Pack and to put specific outfits on these NPCs (outfit mods required) using SkyPatcher

Note: There is no chance of this mod conflicting with any other NPC replacer that uses the old standard method of making them. If someone uses this method, however, the order of the SkyPatcher patch in alphabetical order will take preference. So far there aren't many authors using this method, but even if someone does, to clear conflicts it is as simple as removing the offending SkyPatcher patch (an .ini file) of the mod causing the conflict. Even with a conflict, another mod author using this method won't cause a black face - it will simply replace my own visual styles mentioned above.

ColdSun's Visions - Asset Pack
FSMP - Faster HDT-SMP
RaceMenu
SkyPatcher 2.62 or above
XP32 Maximum Skeleton Special Extended - XPMSSE

Listed below are the outfits in the screenshots to the best of my knowledge. Some will be available on Nexus and some you will have to search for.

Aranea - Newmiller Elven Grade One
Danica - Newmiller Sorceress
Freir - Deze Clothing
Orla - Newmiller Witch Dress
Senna - Ashtoreth Tank Dress
Silana - Deze Clothing

For the Wig and Outfit Pack you need the Deze Clothing Mod (See below). If you have a body that doesn't support the Deze Clothing Mod, simply choose to install only the wigs during the install.

Deze Clothing Mod
Original Mod (3BA)
BHUNP

Simply install the mod with your mod manager. I don't support manual installation - you'll have to figure that out if you don't use a mod manager. During installation you will be asked which NPCs you wish to use and what body style they should have (soft or muscular).

1. Check requirements - FSMP, Racemenu, and XP32 Maximum Skeleton Special Extended XMPSSE are installed
2. Install ColdSun's Visions - Asset Pack
3. Install SkyPatcher 2.62 or above.
4. Install Selects - The Devout FOMOD
5. Install any optional addons from the Optional Files section of the Files Tab
6. Never worry about a black face or conflict with these NPC Replacers again!

Q. How are you doing this without an black faces or conflicts with other mods?
A. Magic. Just kidding! This is all accomplished by the fantastic mod called SkyPatcher by Zzyxzz.

Q. What if another mod author releases the same NPCs in their own mod and they also use SkyPatcher?
A. This WILL cause a conflict. That said, not a black face or anything weird looking. Whatever author's ini file wins is determined by alphabetical order. If someone else's replacer wins, it will simply replace the visual appearance I have made with the other author's visual appearance for that NPC. This conflict is easily fixed by finding the offending ini file for the other mod and deleting it. If the other author did a no-no and put all the replaced NPCs in the same ini file, I would ask that mod author to separate their NPCs into individual ini files so users can fix it as easy as possible.

Furthermore, all ini files that change NPC appearance using SkyPatcher are found in SKSE\Plugins\SkyPatcher\npc. I tried to name my ini file patches to easily recognizable file names so you could make changes without difficulty. If you want to know more about SkyPatcher and what it can do, you should head over to its mod page and check out the articles tab.

Q. Will you make this into an all-in-one (AIO)?
A. Why? There is only 1 plugin in this mod for all these replacers. Everything is handled by the ini patch. All you need to run is the FOMOD one time, select all the NPCs and their body options and you are done.

Q. Can I use Aela's look and use SkyPatcher to apply it to a different NPC using SkyPatcher myself?
A. Sure, but don't publish any of your changes as a mod. Do what you like in your own game and have fun.

Q. Why do you keep making replacer mods when you have already done these characters before?
A. I'm a perfectionist. I keep doing it until I feel its perfect. Maybe this is the last time. Who knows. At least I'm still here doing it, which can't be said for every author.

Q. Why aren't these NPCs immersive? Why aren't some of them normal or ugly?
A. This is how I make NPC replacers. I actually love immersive NPC replacers that other people make, but I enjoy doing them this way. I use replacers from a lot of other mod authors in my game, but this is my own universe that I'm creating and I'll populate it how my own creativity tells me to. If these aren't your cup of tea, then I'm sure you will find many other replacers by other authors that you will enjoy.

Q. Will you add more Companions characters to this mod?
A. I might add males in the future after I do all the mods with the females first.

As mentioned in the comment policy, support is limited on this mod page and its comment section. Head over to our Discord Server if you have problems. Most issues can be resolved by load order adjustment, or re-downloading assets or mod if the download has been corrupted (yes - it happens).

I welcome polite and constructive feedback. However, rude or passive aggressive comments, insulting or disparaging any author's work or my own will result in an immediate and permanent ban from my mod pages. Be respectful in your comments. Limited support is provided in the Comments and it is best that support-related questions be brought to our Discord Server for more detailed support.
