Good question and ill sticky this - I specify in the description page that only Birds and Flocks and Seagulls of Skyrim are the only 2 mods on nexus that I dont think should be used with my mod. It would be fine but it would really crowed up the skys since I used those mods for inspiration for placement but that said placement is different from my mod and theirs so you could use them if you want but likely you will get birds runing into each other and things being a bit too busy like I said or potentially some double vision were placement is very close in both.
Everything else doesnt matter. Use Mihails Ravens mod, use Birds of SKyrim or dont use flying crows or dont its up to you there is no impact to my mod it works independently of all mods. I have heard Birds of Skyrim is unstable* but I have never used it. In any case there is no interaction you can use both. or whatever you want. Please understand that I will not list every single bird mod on nexus but I literally am saying the only 2 that shouldn't be used are Birds and Flocks and Seagulls of Skryim that's it. If you are wondering about X mod its covered by this statement.
Well I am very shocked I made hot files - This is the first mod I have ever made to truly get hot files and honestly that surprises me that this was the one to do it! Thanks everyone for supporting this work and for all the really wonderful feedback. Hot files aside I don't think I have released a mod that has gotten such really cool feedback and positivity. I really appreciate it guys.
I hope you all have a excellent holiday and I hope this mod makes Skyrim a little more fun for you all.
Well I did not see this before, going to check out if it works with SR Exterior cities already (usually creatures / npcs already do work, if not I will patch it!
Hi Edmond. So I had a question about the patch you've included. When you say FYX series mod, which ones are you exactly talking about? I use a few of them and I dont know if I should use your patch or no.
Just use the patch then. He fundamentally changes mesh shape so nothing he does is very compatible with anything in terms of placement mods without digging into it. You are in his eco system so only use mods built for it. This will save you time and hair. If you see a Fyx patch for a mod that just does placements just get the patch. My patch deletes most all my Ravens from Windhelm thats how I fixed clipping issues on my end. Quick and easy fix.
again you dont need a patch let that mod overwrite. If you desire a patch for a hybrid experience thats a choice you can make. Just add my items over into a patch. Or dont. you dont need a patch. Also hide images in a spoiler to keep comments cleaner but no worries! hope that helps!
Hi, can you do an optimized meshes version? The raven's for example take up maybe 10px of your screen 99.999% of the time and yet are made up of over 20000 triangles. The pheasant is also well over 20k triangles. These are very poorly optimized especially for something that realistically will only take up a tiny portion of your screen.
LevinLozenges made an Mihail Ravens - Optimized mod that reduces the vertices down to 2k and there's no visual difference. Textures do most of the work anyway for details.
most modern CPUs and even old ones dont have a issue with the vertices. There are not many ravens rendered per cell. It wouldnt be a noticable impact to make that change. But if you like you can of course for yourself or as a patch!
I did patch the raven and pheasant, just had to copy the meshes, rename it, open in nifskope, and point the textures to your folders. Just thought it would benefit your other users who don't know how to use these tools to have an official optimized version.
20k triangles for tiny birds is really bad optimization, vanilla dragons for example are around 15k triangles. And dragons are much more detailed than these tiny birds which are really just simple sausage shapes.
Hi. Can you expand on how you patched the ravens? The pheasant folder had only one .nif file and it was pretty straight forward, but the raven folder has multiple .nif files and I don't know which exact ones to replace.
Sure, "\as chicken\mihailraven.nif" replaces "raven.nif" and "\as movable static\mihailravenobj.nif" replaces "ravenstatic01.nif". Don't forget to set the correct path for the eyes since it's separate from the body (diffuse and normal is the same path as body + do the eyecubemap). Just ignore the ghost/dead raven mesh I don't even know where those are used (soul cairn maybe?) and also the feather mesh can be left alone.
no just the engine being wonky. it happens sometimes even in vanilla. but there are not many birds in vanilla so you probs didnt notice. Itll fix itself. reload the cell or game or whatever its a temporary issue.

Im not too familiar with skyrim modding so idk what the problem really comes from but yeah
