About this mod

Allows you to speak to Dawnguard members and not get detected as a vampire, as long as you are fully fed (Stage 1).

This allows you to obtain both radiant and faction quests (including siding with Dawnguard) whilst being a vampire and go undercover - rather than them magically being able to tell you are one despite having no proof at all

What does this mod do?

Provided that you haven't already been detected by the Dawnguard as a Vampire and are thus on the quest to get cured, this mod allows you to interact with the Dawnguard as normal and remain undetected for as long as you stay Stage 1 (fully fed) around them. If you start showing signs of your vampirism and speak to them, they'll interact as normal and will send you on your way to get cured. This maintains vanilla behaviour as much as possible, whilst allowing you to play as a vampire throughout the Dawnguard questline.

Other mods didn't quite accomplish this the way I was hoping, so I went and made my own.

  • Should work with any SE/AE version.

  • Compatible with Sacrosanct. (Use the Sacrosanct version)
  • Compatible with Sacrilege. (Use the Sacrilege version)
  • Compatible with Better Vampires. (Use the Reversed version)
  • Compatible with Scion. (Use the normal version)
  • Compatible with any other Vampire Overhaul which uses vanilla or reversed vanilla progression.
  • Compatible with anything except mods doing the same (list below) or mods which modify;
  • The Dawnguard scene where Isran checks if you're a vampire.
  • The dialogue with Dawnguard members which handles responses to you being a vampire.
  • It works great on a modlist like Nolvus. Use the Sacrosanct version.

Not compatible
These are mods which essentially do the same thing, but either in a different way or they haven't been updated in a very long time and missed something.

  • Hunt vampires as a vampire - This uses a dummy keyword to bypass the checks altogether, regardless what stage of vampirism you're at. You could be completely blood crazed and the most obvious vampire in Skyrim, and they wouldn't blink an eye. This wasn't immersive enough for my taste.
  • Play Dawnguard as Vampire undetected - Misses the scene where Isran shines a light on you and checks if you're a vampire as well as a few other instances.
  • Dawnguard Dark Ally - Does the same, I've not checked if it catches all instances but it uses items in your inventory, which seems a little convoluted. The premise here is "we trust you, because you've killed loads of other vampires and the proof is that you have stuff in your inventory". My premise is "we don't know you're a vampire and we don't suspect a thing", as long as you stay fed and don't show them any obvious signs.
  • Dawnguard as a vampire - Touches a bunch of other stuff, which increases incompatibility with other mods. Also misses aforementioned scene.
  • Any mod which changes the same quests. It shouldn't be difficult to make a patch, though.

I've taken concepts and inspiration from some of the above, but use a different technique to achieve the result.
Hunt vampires as a vampire definitely pointed me in the right direction in terms of knowing where to look. My implementation is however, very different.
