    Which version should I use?

As per v1.2, the mod comes as an all-in FOMOD installer which should explain the below during installation. For those using older versions or needing more detail, I've left the instructions below. Just pick the right version during install - there no longer are separate downloads.

    Dawnguard as a Vampire
    - Vanilla
    - Mods using vanilla progression, where your Vampiric drain is strongest when blood starved and weakest when you have recently fed.
    - When using the Scion mod.

    Dawnguard as a Vampire (Reversed)
    - Mods using reverse progression, where your Vampiric drain is strongest when recently fed and gets weaker as you get more blood thirsty.

Dawnguard as a Vampire (Better Vampires)
    - Use this for the Better Vampires mod.
    - The settings in the MCM for Better Vampires do not matter. Does not work for any other mods.

    Dawnguard as a Vampire (Sacrosanct)
    - Use this for the Sacrosanct mod.
    - The settings in the MCM for Sacrosanct do not matter. Does not work for any other mods.

    Dawnguard as a Vampire (Sacrilege)
    - Use this for the Sacrilege mod.
    - The settings in the MCM for Sacrilege do not matter. Does not work for any other mods.

    Questions

I'm playing with a mod list and am not sure?

For the Nolvus v5 modlist: Use the Sacrosanct version.
For the LoreRim 3 & 4 modlist: Use the Sacrilege version.
Otherwise, look through the mods in your list and make a judgment accordingly.

I've already accepted the gift from Lord Harkon?

This is a "point of no return" in the game and you've chosen to side against the Dawnguard. This can't be reversed. The storyline converges later, but otherwise you will never have access to the Dawnguard.

But I want to be a Vampire Lord *and* play with the Dawnguard?

Reject Lord Harkon's gift. Keep playing through the Dawnguard story.
If you're not a Vampire, Serana will offer to turn you later in the story.

Can I play in the Dawnguard if I accept Serana's offer?

Yes. That's sort of the point of this mod - you can side with the Dawnguard *and* retain your Vampire powers. They'll never know, as long as you stay on your toes, stay fed and don't show any signs of being a vampire.

    They caught me anyway?

Make sure you've recently fed before speaking to anyone in the Dawnguard. Once you're caught, the vanilla systems kick in and you'll have to go see Falion to get cured.
They likely won't speak to you while you have "Rising at Dawn" in your questlog, which is the quest to get cured.
Once you've progressed far enough, Serana can turn you back into a Vampire.

Can you add this one extra immersive feature?

I'd love to think of every conceivable way to make this more immersive, including using any vampire abilities in front of the Dawnguard members but that's a ton of work, requires scripts and just isn't worth the time it would take. All of that is accomplished easily via roleplay and some constraint, I just made this mechanically possible.

I've added an experimental fix for Better Vampires (Thanks to pjaj for the initial fix which pointed me in the right direction!), though unfortunately this had to be another version.

If people could report back whether or not this resolved their issues, that would be great.

Changing versions of this mod during an active save is 100% fine - there are no scripts and it doesn't touch your save-game at all.

Remember if you're already detected as a vampire and on the 'get cured' quest - you'll have to conclude that manually or via console. That's just how the game works and nothing in this mod messes with that logic.

    Update:
I've also updated the mod to be an All-In-One FOMOD installer, so the choice of which version to use is now made during installation. Old versions remain available as separate downloads, but will not be supported moving forward.
    As before, updating is safe.

    Unfortunately it just doesn't work.
    Using the Nolvus modlist.

    EDIT
    Figured it out.
Opened up SSEEdit and found there was a .esp called "At Your Own Pace - Dawnguard.esp" and the DQaV .esp had to go after that one in the load order.

Did BV introduce something new which messes with the Dawnguard quests?
Sounds like something that mod introduced to be incompatible - but I don't use BV so I'd need someone to point out what changed especially as I don't have Skyrim installed atm.

Sorry for the late reply.I don't know if it's my fault.According to MO2, my Better Vampires ESP is enabled. But when I load Skyrim, it tells me that ESP isn't present... it could be that, not your mod... I don't really know how to fix it xD

Here's the changelogs since 8.9 onward:

      • Version 9.1

        • - Adjusted Ice Flesh so it is a bit more powerful; it blocks 30-80 damage now depending upon rank.
        • - Added in a second check for those you have turned or enthralled. On an update in game time, they will have the attributes and appearance reapplied.
        • - By default, your stage abilities and rank abilites will not be affected by hunger.
        • - Added in a new MCM option (and in the old config power). You can now disable or enable hunger affecting stage abilities and rank abilities separately if you don't want some to disappear when you are weaker.
        • - Added in an "Ignore" option for all types of feeding or enthralling (thank you for the idea Idrinth!) so you won't get stuck. My perks add in options and should not remove others.

      • Version 9.01

        • - Fixed the header so it reads the correct version number - may have made the MCM unavailable.
        • - Fixed Call Creature Summons so they are only Aggressive and Help Friends and Allies
        • (If you are allied to a faction, your summon may not see them as a threat unless they beat on you for a bit ...)

      • Version 9.0

        • - Used the advice from weds4 (Better Vampires - Bug Fix for Vampire Seduction II https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/117383) to fix Vampire Seduction II; I apologize for the error.
        • - Fixed one of the special feeding victims giving you a buff to two-handed instead of one-handed.
        • - Fixed one of the special feeding victims not displaying the proper % reduction to your shout timer.
        • - Flames of Coldharbour enchantment has its damage increased to 25 per second.
        • - Flames of Coldharbour spell has had damage increased from 60/second to 90/second; this is broken down to 45 direct damage and 45 from the wall of flames itself.
        • - Adjusted the damage to health, stamina, and magicka regen (if enabled) when in direct sunlight; I made them less harsh, but still a detriment. Remember ... you can regen health and stamina more quickly if not in direct light when outside (find shadows).
        • - Fixed Blood Ward so it works properly at Vampire Master and Vampire Nightlord ranks.
        • - Edited a few lines of the MCM to explain settings better - for example: in the MCM you can toggle whether rank abilities are affected by hunger level, BUT, satiation stage abilities like Reveal Auras will always depend upon whether you are fully fed or not.
        • - Changed creatures that you summon to be very aggressive so they will attack neutral and enemy targets.
        • - Decreased the volume (by 50%) of the sounds that play when you gain a new rank.

      • Version 8.9

        • - Fixed the Summon Gargoyle spell not working at higher levels.
        • - Removed my shortened VL Skeleton from the mod so it won't conflict if anyone is using a custom skeleton or mesh. I will have it available as a separate download if people still want it (it helps you fit through some doors - but you can always use bats if need be).
        • - Re-adjusted and modified existing scripts/abilities to mesh with Better Vampire Lords 1.2

Something weird is going on.  The only mod I'm using is Sacrosanct, so I downloaded that version.  Not only do the dawnguard not see me as a vampire, but NOTHING sees me as an enemy.  Bandits walk right by, even if I attack them they act like I'm not there.  Turning this mod off fixes it ><

This mod doesn't interact with that kind of game mechanic whatsoever. The mod contains edits to the Dawnguard quest, not vampire mechanics outside Dawnguard.

You've got a mod which conflicts in your list somewhere, possibly one which edits Dawnguard quests substantially.

It's described in the pinned post, you'd still use the Better Vampires option.

The most recent version contains fixes specifically for Better Vampires, and it was already compatible with SDE.

Ty :) downloaded and will see how it works , i am going let Serana turn me into vampire before Soul Cairn so i was looking mod like this one where i can do Dawnguard quests after Soul Cairn as a vampire.
Edit... So yeah it works perfectly , i let Serana turn me into vampire before Soul Cairn and did all the quests there then went back to Tamriel and did one Dawnguard quest where i had to kill traveling merchant for Gunmar and turned it in and took new quest from Gunmar as Vampire :) Ty for the mod , Endorsed.

If the Dawnguard becomes hostile or calls you a monster, and you use a better vampire with reverse progression, just ask Serena for a blood potion and then drink it if you don't; just find an enemy or find an NPC's sleeping and drink blood till the notification says that your bloodlust is now satisfied and your no longer hunger should fix it. You can now interact with Dawnguard members.

Hello, I'd like to make a request if possible, I'm interested in playing A Tale of Blood and Snow (haven't bought it yet) but from reading some information about it it seems like it's similar to the Dawnguard quests in that you need to be cured to join the Vigilants, could you make a similar mod to this one for that Creation? Thanks

I'm afraid that wouldn't really be possible without me buying the creation and would also involve some extensive work.

I'm currently not actively playing through Skyrim myself, so I'm not sure that's on the cards.

Yeah no problem, I read some more and it seems like you can kinda bypass it by being cured and completing the first quest, then you can just become a vampire again and complete the Vigilants questline, hopefully it won't bug out as I have a few vampire mods lol
Thanks for answering and for making the Dawnguard mod

You could likely make a patch which bypasses/removes the check if you're a Vampire entirely - so that you wouldn't need to jump through those hoops at all.

I'm playing as vampire before joining dawnguard, if i use this mod and go through with questline as vampire, will serana offere me to become vampire lord later on in story? I know it isn't possible before entering soul cairn as i can enter it without any problem as vampire, what about after completing quest line? Will serana still give me the option to make me vampire lord if I'm a vampire?

Yes, you will still be able to become a Vampire Lord later. This is vanilla behaviour and hasn't been altered.
