A massive looming snow-covered tower temple on the frozen mountains in the Windward Pass area. It was designed as a lore-friendly location for my "good" characters to make a pilgrimage to and stay a while to pray (using the awesome Religion mod, it is not required though). The Tower of Light is a massive looming tower temple on the frozen mountains in the Windward Pass area. It was designed as a lore-friendly location for my "good" characters to make a pilgrimage to and stay a while in the functional warm player house in the Spire and pray at the shrines (using the awesome Religion mod, this mod was made with Religion in mind but it is not required to use - the shrines will just give vanilla blessings instead)

NEWS: Plays nicely with Enai's amazing new worship-based mod Wintersun - Faiths of Skyrim although the Magnus shrine won't help if you worship Magnus (as its a custom shrine) but this will be updated in a future patch to add full compatibility

Mod contents:
  • A fully decorated shrine (with living area, office & library) for each of the nine divines with live-in Priest (and even a Magnus shrine with custom blessing)
  • 33 brand new ritual robes designed by myself for each of the divines (clothing, light armour and heavy armour versions so you can actually use them out and about - they are not overpowered and are fully enchantable and improvable) - see pictures
  • Custom Robe Crafting station for the new ritual robes in basement and a few supplies to get you started.
  • A small lore-friendly decorated & functional player house in the Spire on the top of the tower with windows to see the sky. All containers in the Spire are set to no respawn so therefore safe to use as storage (including barrels)
  • Where is the player house? The tower itself is by Wayward Pass (near Alftand) west of Windhelm, its quite hard to miss due to its size. From the lobby go up the stairs next to the merchant, you will now be on the 2nd level, then head up the stairs again to the Spire, Grab the Teleport spell books on the round table on the left hand side in the Spire.
  • Access to the roof with an awesome view, if you like freezing snow and high winds - why not make a camp up there if you use Campfire, I do, my ice mage loves it up there!
  • Item displays for religious amulets on each altar - go ahead try putting an amulet on your favourite divine altar.
  • Entirely new textures for the Magnus banners.
  • Uses the stunning Religious Resources by Nikorasu & TheSovereign1612 (with permission)
  • Fully Nav-meshed and follower friendly.
  • Shopkeeper in the Lobby with dynamic stock display and some of the new ritual robes for sale (want more for followers / your guild etc? make them in the basement!)
  • Wandering pilgrims and a priest overseer that go about their business throughout the tower.
  • Fast travel enabled from Lobby, Spire & Basement (for abacus users like me who hate waiting for an external cell to load before you can leave a place)
  • Crafting stations with custom storage containers and secure vault for additional storage in the Basement.
  • Teleport spells to the Lobby and Spire. (Spell tomes are on the table as you walk into the Spire)
  • Donation boxes on each shrine that can be stolen from, for all you pilfering thieves.
  • Made with Realistic Needs in mind, merchant sells food, there is a water source in each shrine if you look hard enough too - player-friendly beds are available if you didn't bring your own bedroll or tent on your pilgrimage.
  • Made with Frostfall in mind. Fires dotted about to keep you warm, Spire is nice and cosy. Outside on the roof however not so warm (at such altitude in the mountains you will freeze quickly out there!)
  • In each shrine there is an area blocked off by a stone wall but behind is an empty small room, I suppose you could disable the wall with the console then make your own small room with Jaxonz Positioner (or any other positioner mod) custom to your characters personal needs..
  • Compatible with the awesome (and in my opinion under-rated) Cleric mod, even fixes an issue I have had with Cleric and Religion used at the same time (you seem to need to pray at a vanilla-style shrine to get started earning Devotion XP with Cleric, but you can't with Religion installed as all shrines are customized. But now simply pray at the Magnus shrine in my mod to get your first Cleric devotion XP, problem solved)
  • Besides the Religious Resources, uses many of the coolest deco resources from Oaristys, Elianora, Runs, Lolicept, Jokerine, Ax, Tlaffoon, Runs and more (see full list under Credits) - Thanks to everyone who's amazing resources I used.
  • Your character not into the Nine divines? Prefer worshipping darker deities? Are you a Thalmor that would object to the Talos shrine? Just a murderous scum bag? Why not just stop by and wreck up the place! Just be prepared for some modest resistance.
  • By some bizarre twist of aedric fate (and completely unintended) you get a great view of the tower from Darkfox127's player-house masterpiece Caranthir Tower Reborn - it doesn't interfere with it in any way however
  • Probably other stuff I forgot about, maybe a couple of secrets, one fairly easy to find, another not so easy..
  • Mod is as lore friendly as I am able.
  • Spire / Basement has no auto-sort / craft supply auto retrieval capabilities, but loads of custom named containers safe for storage. If you must have auto-sort / craft supply auto retrieval just do what I do and use the Dynamic Auto Sorting mod, just put your tokens in the relevant containers, add your crafting stations with the spell and off you go (love that mod)

Future Releases:

  • Won't be able to port to SSE until I have it, and my PC barely runs Oldrim so don't hold your breath..
  • Hoods to match the Ritual Robes, ill have to make these manually but its on my to-do list
  • Bug Fixes - I've squashed all that I could find but if any more creep out then they should be quickly fixed if I am able.
  • I would love to add a placer for a new lore-friendly collectable to each shrine but I can't find any information on any relics other than the "Crusader" set which is added by the awesome Legacy of the Dragonborn museum anyway. Any lore experts out there know of items associated with each of the nine divines that I can recreate and add into the mod? I would rather make it lore friendly than just making a "Shield of Arkay" or something generic like that.
  • Integration with the Religion mod would be nice so I can give an additional worship bonus to anyone praying at the shrines - I will work out how to do this one day
  • Add another diety to Religion, Magnus - including new amulet. This would sync up with my Magnus shrine at the Tower of Light to enable shrine prayer. (This might have to be separate mod)
  • Might expand the house to have item displays, mannequins etc on another level but its primary function is as a place of worship rather than a player house so I may not, depending.
  • Add a book / note with information that is added to the player on mod install (not worked out how yet, sorry)
  • I am currently making a similar mod for Daedric worship, but rather than just cloning and changing this one it will be completely different, with its own subterranean worldspace, grand altar, huge imposing castle & plenty of authentic daedric mocking of well-known locations. Its only like 10% done so won't be about for a while yet though but I can promise it will contain over 50 new daedric ritual robes, vast cult / guild hall and extensive player house.

Making this mod was extremely time consuming and long-winded (despite it only taking a couple months, I work fast) however I totally enjoyed making it - and I would LOVE to see what you all do with the tower, and the robes - Please leave me a few in-game screenshots or even a video (my graphics are awful so i've never even seen this mod in proper detail!)

Thanks to Darkfox127 for his very informative mod videos - you the man!

Special thanks to Nikorasu & TheSovereign1612  - without their ridiculously good Religious Resources this mod would probably never have been conceived.

THANKS asset creators for everything you do.

Mod has been EXTENSIVELY tested by myself with my set of mods and should be almost universally compatible with other mods unless they use the same bit of mountain as I did (which is pretty unlikely)

This is only my 2nd mod ever released so I much appreciate endorsements and comments, it gives me drive to finish my other mods I'm working on (some of them could potentially be really fun) - THANK YOU

A recently discovered tip: If you make your own LOD for your load order with DynDOLOD (sort of complicated but not that hard) you can see this tower from a LONG way away, its enormous. It will also appear on your Map too! Can't recommend DynDOLOD enough for this (and any other large-building mod)

This mod is and will always be free.
