    i downloaded so many excellent mods here that i decided to upload some of my "experiments" to give a littlebit back to the community. ropes are everywhere in skyrim so i'm sure you will encounter quite a noticable difference applying this mod. many thanks to all of you for trying my mods and to all of you still downloading and endorsing!

    ** V2.5a uploaded ***
    including smim,riften, markarth, solstheim and ship ropes. new: dev aveza airship ropes added.

    combine the smim folder meshes with my rope textures to use my ropestyle instead of the smim style! current smim mod version (V 2.04 or newer) incl meshes is prerequisite for full 3D rope experience!

    Just copy texture folder into the data folder and let my mod overwrite smim rope textures or use mod organizer for appropriate load order.

    Important info before you post glitches:
    SMIM-Mod for better rope mesh is strongly recommended if you do not own a very weak pc and if you like 3D ropes as i do. Be aware of the appropriate load order and be aware not to overwrite files by other mods (smim 3D rope meshes are in my opinion essential! )
    There are many mods around overwriting these smim 3D rope meshes or my rope textures (e.g. enhanced textures detail or cube maps mod) as a side effect. check always for new mesh or texture conflicts after installing a new mod and adjust your loadorder if necessary


    I recommend the mod "Real Wood Textures - Farmhouses" by LucidAPs.it provides hd textures and works perfectly together with my mod.

    the requested replacer for the ugly big three prison metalcage textures is now a separate replacer mod (better prisonerstuff)

      try it. it may work because it is a texture replacer.i do not use se. feedback appreciated.
      update: better ropes sse mod available.

      thanks for your info! it seems it is not se compatible. sorry, i can't test with se because i play in an le environment and i'm happy with it...
      some more info about what does not work would help to clearify what your problem is and if it could be solved. maybe some se user can test it for you ?.

    I'm new on the mod world and I'll need some help.
    After a browsing online seems than the DDS files need to be renamed in order to work in different locations
    If is that so, could you please post an example?
    Dawnstar for example?

      hi, no it should work in whole skyrim worldspace but it may depend on other mods maybe overwriting some textures. just read my description and the sticky post.
      it does not cover all existing textures but the most common ones. if you find a texture which is not covered but you think it should post it here and i will have look at it.

    hi
    would be best if you did a texture dds based on smim _n and pfuscher _p files on ropes, your's have inverted pattern and still looking exeptional but a rope with parallax arouses me

      thanks for info. i use smim 2.03 and have no problem so far. i load my texture mod after smim textures. i will have a look

      thx for your time, my few observations so far below

      the pattern in smim and pfuscher parallax is inverted and of a different size compared to yours and for example another dds retexture

If you want to have a parallax thingy from Pfuscher's parallaxed ropes that is compatible with smim's normal maps and your dds base texture, I think you need to edit your dds texture pattern or redo parallax and normals (I don't remember if you have normal maps already included but nevermind). Something you probably wouldn't want to do (I wouldn't so I understand, though it would be nice). I think the fastest way would be re-doing parallax on your texture. If you have an email I'll send you the normals and parallax for you to review so you don't need to scur the web for it, I'm not expecting for you to do anything, just a free chat/sharing ideas

      ok i looked for this project.it's nice but for the time i'm happy without it. i prefer lucidAPs farmhouse textures my ropes are already hd and a normal map is included. it is optmized for use with smim meshes and it looks perfectly fine together. if you load my mod after the project and no other mod overwrites my rope textures everything should work fine. there is one exception: if you use a mod which introduces new meshes with non standard use of textures or not being compatible with smim meshes.

      I use Renthal's farmhouses (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/images/627798/?), from pfuscher I only wanted parallax ropes, nevermind and gl. perhaps I'll do some parallax for your diffuse

      ok, didn't get that why parallax on a rope which is already 3D ? in case you really need this i think pfuscher is a good adress for that.if you encounter mixup of textures or missing textures check the texture path of newly installed meshes. this is mainly a problem with mods introducing new meshes with non standard texture paths/file names. i suggest to check renthal's mod first.

      mmm Renthal never did ropes, I just overwright Ren with SMIM guy, then project parallax then I installed your textures, I think that parallax would make the darker part of the rope deeper, bumping the brighter part, but have it your way, I never saw parallax on ropes neither just debating

      the problem are not my ropes or rentals ropes the problem is the mesh that uses the ropes. if this mesh (in this case probably renthal's) is not vanilla or smim compatible i can't guarantee that my rope texture works as intended. my textures depend directly on vanilla (flat rope) or smim meshes (3D rope) or compatible ones. that means e.g. all my farmhouse ropes depend on the 3D smim meshes for farmhouses if you want 3D ropes as in my screenshots. if another mod uses other meshes with other or additional textures and objects my textures will probably not work and/or not be 3D. this is the reason,why i can't use many of renthal's genius mods. his meshes are pretty but they are often not compatible with standard meshes and so you can use his meshes only in combination with his textures. so you must decide: smim and my ropes in 3D or whatever else or you check and optimize it manually as i do sometimes

      there's one misanderstanding, as I said previously I have overwritten renthal's meshes with SMIM otherwise I would never see a 3d rope (Ren never in his life did a mesh with ropes), pfuscher improved on SMIM adding parallax and dds_p. rope file that match Brumbek's rope, so n_ and _p are matched with mesh, that is all (the only thing missing is a new diffuse matching normals and parallax on SMIM 3D rope, made parallax aware since we have a compatible with SMIM, _p.dds file by pfuscher).

      @ yes I agree Renthal's meshes are a nightmare sometimes, to make it work properly one need to edit meshes, 2 days ago I saw lava glitch and flickering on his mushroom textures so I needed to learn nifscope

      anyway your dds looks fantastic, lets not argue anymore on SMIM lol

      sorry, no problem. so if i understand there is no mesh problem only a parallax/diffuse maps problem which is not really a problem just let's play and have fun

      my point is that I saw the parallax thing on rope and I can definitely see the jump in quality (UV maps as well), just saying this can look even more awesome.

    Are you aware of the flat ropes on the walkways? I just wanted to mention it.
    I have upgraded my Graphic Card and suddenly the flat ropes popped out

    Other than that it works as promised especially when matched with SMIM.

      if you have flat or ugly ropes it is most likely that another mod has overwritten the essential smim 3D meshes or they are simply not installed. there are some other newer mods around doing such nasty things (e.g. cube map mod) .

      The flat ropes are in SMIM as well. I checked in NifScope.

      Edit: They are flat in vanilla Skyrim too.

      what nif.file are you looking at ?
      i checked for example all meshes in smim 2.03 in the
      meshes/architecture/farmhouse/walkway folder. they are all definitely 3d. and so my textures - if applied correctly - will appear in 3D. in my game everything looks good

      I found 3D ropes in the folder (SMIM) "04 Farmhouse 3D Ropes Distance Fade".

      ok, if the walkway nifs are not 3D then another mod has already overwritten the original smim meshes in your game. just reinstall smim and put it at the end of your load order. put my mod directly behind. this should work. i have a look at smim v2.04 **update** my new mod version is optimized for smim 2.04

      I will take a dive into my version, Tropical Skyrim II, and see if I find the ugglyness there.

      Edit:

      No architectural Meshes in TS II which means I will go for the SMIM 04 Farmhouse version.

      it is perfectly normal that you may find a flat rope in some areas. possible reasons: smim and no other mod covers the relating vanilla flat rope mesh so far or another mod has overwritten the relating 3D mesh with a 2D version. also my texture mod replaces only the most common ropes in skyrim. there are still many places and other mods not covered by my rope textures, using non standard files and folders for the ropes textures.

    I actually had a Markarth rope re-texture from before (shhh! it's a secret) but this version and the farmhouse addition (darker) was really a great addition to SMIM and really spruced up the place. Great job. Thanks for the attention to the details!

    For those not using SMIM and are contemplating using this anyway, my advise is "grab it."

    The ropes look FANTASTIC even if only replacing the vanilla ones.

    I use ropes a lot in my "Outlaws" mod. I guess the nordic gods will be thankful for your work as well.
