This patch was made for Climates of Tamriel v3.1! We have no intention to update it to v5.0 at this time. Please respect this decision.

I will, however, be happy to host any fix or patch people send my way. So if you'd like to help out, let me know in the comment section.

CoT Dawnguard and Dragonborn patches are optional files on the CoT main mod page (link)

The 5 ITM reported by BOSS/LOOT are harmless. Clean if you want, but there's no need.

    INSTALLATION & INSTRUCTIONS

    REGULAR VERSION
NMM installer has 2 options: Regular or Fog

Regular is a simple change to the weathers, without any volumetric fog effects. It will work well with and without ENB.
Fog edition has volumetric fog (player attached effect) which places fog around the player during foggy weather. This should be used with ENB, but can be used without. Without ENB there will be some issues that the engine (rendering) cannot fix (eg. white outlines around vegetation and less than optimal alpha blending). Fog edition requires edits to SkyrimPrefs.ini

    [Particles]
    iMaxDesired=

This value must be set to whatever it is now and add 1000

    Load order:
Load the CoT patch (any version) after all CoT files. More details can be found on the description page

    Known and/or unfixable issues:
    • Fog will vanish after opening and closing world map. This is an engine limitation and even the vanilla game has this same problem

If you report a problem and we ask for more details and/or suggest a solution...
PLEASE let us know if it helped or if you were able to solve the issue on your own. Currently I seem to be the only one still actively responding to comments - I do this out of courtesy for the community as I'm not even playing Skyrim at the moment! I don't mind helping people if they ask politely and at least try to find a solution on their own first. What irks me is people posting a problem, then never responding to any of my attempts at helping them. This makes me feel like an idiot for wasting my time and if it goes on for much longer I will simply stop doing it.

So please show some respect for the effort I put in here. Don't just leave me hanging, and if I could help solve your problem a bit of thanks wouldn't hurt, either. Besides, clearly stating what you did to solve the problem might help other people as well (when they bother to use the search function), which in turn will make my life easier.

How do i manually install regular (no volumetric fog, non-ENB, no-nonsense) version of this? I assume i just need to ignore folder called - "02 - Fog Textures and Meshes", right? And please don't tell me how to install my mods! I don't use Mod Orginizer or any other tool of any sorts to run my mods! The Default launcher's built in Data File manager works just fine and i don't have to use any other tool unless i absolutely have to, which i don't so...Please consider options for those, who choose not to use any sort of automatic installers! Thank you!...
...Oh and also there are two other folders inside the archive, which i'm not sure how one is different from another! Both patch snow, but one appears to have "10" in the endo f its name and other - "40"...what does each do? What "10" does and what "40", so i choose what i want? As i said i just use regular version of this!...
...And for the love of Talos, please consider proper installation instructions step by step for those going for manual installation! :|

    Hi
I maked some mistakes by installing and now I need to reinstal this + other mods, but i DON´T see anywhere a uninstallation guide for this patch. How should man this uninstall with a manager like NMM? Or can man this uninstall in the standard way,

Everyone should really use Mod Organizer 2 at this point.

    Hey!
Thanks for your cool mod. I just ran into the problem of steep edges of water in foggy weather.

Is it possible to make a mod-fix for the edges of the water "pure waters" and "climate of tamriel"?
The "pure water " have angular edges anyway, but with fog they become also white and more noticeable.
The main thing is to make the edges of the water smooth like in "realistic water two",
if anyone can, a big request to make this correction, but it spoils the view, and the work of modders who made the weather and water.
    Thanks again!

No, it was never tested for V5. Some people say it works perfectly with V5 anyway, but I can't give you any guarantees.

Been using this along with V5. No visual issues on my end.

The likelihood is that there were little changes between V3.1 and V5 except for the general structure of both versions, especially with the weather FormIDs.

Chesko said he tried to keep all record changes to a minimal to ensure patches would be as compatible as possible. So, I think you may be fine here.

Is there a likelihood of this working on Climates of Tamriel SE ? I am using the ported patch from Skyrim Beautification and I have filtered to show conflicts... the patch with CoT SSE and I see no conflicts.

EDIT: Ah, I see why because the form ID # don't match. I see the names though, so it appears they are not compatible... you'd end up with duplicate / new weather from the patch on top of the original by my guess.

Sorry to ask this here but what´s wrong with CoT v3.1 or better said what´s the benefit of using CoT v5 ?

I mean besides this patch here, there´re so many other very important plugins aswell, mostly unusable anymore with CoT v5.

      Expanded Snow Systems
      Lightning during Thunder Storms

Hi I have a question. I've managed to port this over to the Special Edition for personal use and it actually works pretty good. The only thing that's curious though is that the new fog meshes kill the fps like really hard. It was intensive on Oldrim but on SE it's far worse. Would you perhaps know what causes it to perform worse on SE?

Now I know SE isn't supported but I was asking because of the small chance that maybe it is an easy thing to tweak in Nifskope or something you know Some hidden setting that makes it not work as well as it could. Probably a long shot but it doesn't hurt to ask right.

I'm sorry, the fog meshes were prod80's work and I haven't seen him on this site in ages. I can't think of anything that would improve the performance myself.

You guys ending work on this patch forced jjc71 into retirement. How does that make you feel?

Excuse me? jjc71 has never been in contact with us, ever. He updated his mod to v5.0 with zero backward compatibility, then disabled the comments on his own mod page, sending droves of people our way expecting an upgrade, reporting problems caused by disregarding our VERY VISIBLE statement that our patch wouldn't work for 5.0, or just expecting us to troubleshoot jjc71's mod in general.

So if anything, it was the other way around. Dealing with everyone's entitlement here has seriously put me off modding in general.

LOL WUT... How does "I'm not going to support 5.0" = FORCING another author into "retirement?" The entitlement is INSANE on this site.

I don't often comment on mods but after reading some things people said I felt the need of saying this: I'm sorry you have to deal with so many blind or plain retarded people; thank you for your mod and your support. You are the best :)

This patch works pretty well with one exception. Rain is good but heavy rain appears as a wavy blur and it's hard to see anything until it stops. Any reasons why this could be?
