    Change log :

    Overhauls:
    - Overhaul of the general structure of the mod.
    The structure of the mod has been recreated to bypass some bugs including the famous activation bug which occurs on many objects.
    - Overhaul of duels launch system.
    It is no longer necessary to cast a spell the same time as the enemy. Now, charging or casting a spell while targeting an enemy can lead to a duel start.
    - Overhaul of spectators module.
    This module is now much more efficient. Spectators no longer stand between the duelists and the guards will no longer attempt to arrest you.

    Improvements:
    -Adding an automatic debug system if a duel does not start or if one of the duelists is defeated at the launch of the duel.
    -Compatibility with certain mod such as Alternative to Death.
    -If the player loses a duel but is still alive, the battle will not resume until this one will be on his feets.
    -In a duel with a dragon, if the player has no more magic, the duel stops and damages taken during the duel will be applied to the player and to the dragon.

    Fixes:
    -Fixed some abnormal behaviors between the two duelists.
    -In a duel with a dragon, the player now goes automatically in combat state.
    -When an enemy is defeated in a duel and marked as essential, he will not recover his life instantly.
    -The scripts associated to the ashes piles of defeated enemies in duels will disappear from the save game after a certain period.




    Question: It says to install Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE), how do I do that?
    Answer: You may download SKSE here, here is also a video explaining how to install it.

    Question: Does this mod work with SkyUI? If so, is it mandatory?
    Answer: The mod is compatible, however it is not mandatory.

    Question: Is it possible to use a controller for the duels?
    Answer: Yes, don't forget to change your hotkeys via the configuration menu.

    Question: Is it possible to use other magic mods along with this one?
    Answer: Absolutely. No conflicts should take place between this mod and any other.

    Question: I have problems starting duels / I lost the mod book, what should I do?
    Answer: Use the "reset" function from the MCM menu to restart the mod.
    If you don't have SkyUI and you have lost the book, type "StartQuest MDRResetQuest" into the console.

    Question: How to start a finishing move?
    Answer: Your two hands must be free at the beginning of the duel (This may change in future updates).
    If you have "If the requirements are met" as option for "Finising Moves" then your overdrive gauge must be at least half full.

    Question: I would like to make a plugin or translation of this mod, may I?
    Answer: Please obtain my permission first and create your patch as an esp linked to MagicDuelReborn.esm.

    I don't know if anyone can help but I'm having an issue with the mod and I cannot seem to find anyone else having this issue.

    For a long period of time, I was able to use this mod perfectly fine with no issues at all, I could even use my own music. I don't know how or why but at some point around me starting Dawnguard a bug would occur every time I would start a magic duel. When a duel would start, the Dragonborn would sheath their weapons and stand there for a few moments before the debug would kick in. The other participant wouldn't sheath their weapons. I have tried using every variation I can think of to start a duel such as with just the right hand, just the left, both hands, etc. but I would have the same result each time.

    I've followed any guide I can find, I have reset the mod, used console commands, and even fully reinstalled it but I get the same result each time. I even reloaded an old save where it worked at the time but the issue still persists. I haven't added any new mods and if it is possible I would prefer to not have to start a new save.

    If anyone has any advice or fixes I would be very grateful.

    Your set ups must be low FPS, I rarely have to debug this mod and am normally around 45-60 fps in combat. Amazing mod. Slightly buggy but nothing too bad if your machine is up to date.

    I'm having an issue where if I get into a duel with a dragon, neither of us can deal damage to eachother.

    ETA: I also have an issue with the music. I had to manually end a dragon duel (because we couldn't damage eachother) by resetting the mod, and now the dragon fight music won't stop playing. Only way to stop it is to load a save from before the dragon duel started.

    EDIT2: I fixed the music issue by using the command "help music" to see what music was playing, then "removemusic <musicplayinghere>" to end them

    I really miss this mod, when it didnt break. I wonder if its function could be cleared up under the 64b system and a newer SKSE, along with the few code mods that add more functions. Hopefully some industrious mod dev takes an interest in checking that out, because when it worked it was glorious.

      Magic Duel Reborn was all about cleaning the functions of the original mod and taking advantage of SKSE's new functionalities. The "light" version of this mod was a mix from the original mod and the Reborn version (it was created because SKSE wasn't yet ported to SE). But concerning the current version, this is a simple port from Oldrim. Nothing was damaged during the process, it's just that the AI from the special edition is even dumber than in the original version (NPCs standing in front of doors, scenes that does not play correctly...). What happens here is that NPCs ignore the duels scenes and their packages (that's why NPCs sometimes walk away from the duel when it begins). I'm sure most of these issues could be corrected using custom animations instead of the buggy game packages. Unfortunately, I'm lacking both knowledge and free time to mess with all this.

      Oh wow, I even searched for it but didnt see that it was on SSE. NPCs abandoning duels never bothered me. It happens, oh well, nothings perfect.
      What finally made me stop using it was bugging crafting benches. I just looked it up to see if thats what my issue was (its been years I wasnt sure) and it would seem that IF that does happen, there are workarounds to unbreak that bug if it were to still come up. Since its been ported Ill have to grab it again, its too good not to have around, even with its quirks.

    Love this mod when it works, and I understand what an undertaking it was. However, it is bugged as all get out, and could probably be corrected with more modern papyrus scripting and fnis. Alas, I do not have the time, so I will not be able to really use this mod. I get the animation clicking debug issue almost 100% of the time. I don't blame the mod author, as this is a very complicated mod and I'm running tons of other mods. Just be aware, outside a vanilla skyrim build, this probably will bug out at some point on you.

    Doesn't really work but someone mentioned it working with left hand spells so I'll try that, can't really get dragon duels to work either. Got into a duel in first person, got ragdolled and couldn't get back up

    Edit: Duels with mages worked with a spell in left hand but dragon duels are broken, I get into the duel and start shouting but nothing happens. Dragon shouts at me and I take no damage and I shout at them but nothing happens

    Just upgraded the mod from 1.0 to 1.1 and it seems new update is broken somehow! like many others whatever i do i keep getting "debug function preformed" msg! even the left hand cast gave me the same msg! i had no problem with old one except that sometimes the casting animation didnt play for my char, but this new version is completely unplayable! hope to see a fix soon, i love this mod :(

    whenever I get into a duel it says "debug function preformed" and I do not know what it is and it is kind of annoying because I really want to do a magic duel

      I've been having the same problems too but i may have found a solution. For some reason, the spells will only work if you're using them with your left hand. It'll almost always go to auto debug if you initiate the duels with your right. Try using your left for duels and see if that helps.

      Many thanks! I kept having the same problem and this solved it. It's a bit unintuitive now because I'm used to doing attacks with the right hand, but at least it works now.

    i really love this mod its pretty sick this mod makes the fights so much epic and dramatic its a ''must install mod'' keep the great work i hope see more updates and new features(i came to think if ESO had this mechanic in the combat system hmm).
