ENB Performance Guide

If you have quite low end system and cant run a good enb preset with playable fps or if you have a mid quality system and want some more fps then this guide is for you.

It is made according to my low end semi-potato system.
My system specification:
Intel 8th gen i3 processor.
8gb ddr4 ram
no graphics card. (yes I don't have any dedicated graphics card . I play on this system which uses intel's shared gpu functionality which is not so good. But I get those impressive graphics quality with playable fps.)

With this sytem and while using almost 200 mods ( some of them are mentioned below) without enb my fps:
indoor: 40-60
outdoor(less dense): 25-35
outdoor(high dense):16-25

with enb:
indoor: 20-40
outdoor(less -mid dense): 15-25;
outdoor(high dense): I disable the enb( hehe)

If you have dedicated gpu however small you will get much higher fps than mine.

So let's get started

Configure enbseries.ini:

Proper configuration of this file can give a huge fps gain without any/very less visual degradation from the original preset.

step1:

Go to [Effect] section:

EnableDepthOfField: set it to false. It is very fps hungry. if tou want depthoffield active all time use dynavision mod instead or only activate this when taking   charceter screenshot.

EnableAmbientOcclusion: gives very nice touch but fps hungry. setting it false will give you more fps.

EnableSkyLighting: if you are using some lighting mod like elfx, rlo, rs or anything and happy with the visual set it to false.

EnableReflection: very fps hungry. set it to false.

EnableLens: quite fps hungry. Set it to false.

EnableSunRays: set it to false for more fps

EnableWetSurfaces: (this option is only available in some enb presets) Setting it to false will give more fps

EnablePrepass  , EnablePostPassShader:  Some enb presets are highly dependent on these two . So setting it to false will degrade graphics quality heavily, while giving a nice fps boost.

Some enb presets are not so dependent on these. So you have to check in-game how much it affects the graphics.

EnableSubSurfaceScattering: quite fps hungry .set it to false for gameplay. Set it to true when taking character screenshot.

step2:

search all the words which contains the word "quality" (ctrl+F )
its value ranges from -2 to 2
low value means high quality low performance.
set all the value of the word containning "quality" to 1 or 2 and see in game if you can notice any visual degradation.
setting it to 1 or 2 for all the words will give you a nice fps gain with minimal visual loss.

For the words containing "FilterQuality" you can set the value to as low as 4 for more fps.

step3:

search all the words which contains the word "supersampling"
set the value to false.

step4:

Go to [RAIN] section
set EnableAntialiasing to false.
Do you really see any antialiasing on a single rain drop?

setp5:

Go to [SSAO_SSIL] section
there are two words "SizeScale" and "SourceTextureScale"
higher the value of these the more quality and low performance
value of 1 is 4 times slower than value of 0.5
if by default  these two value are lower than 1 then its ok. otherwise set it to 0.7 and see ingame if there is any visual degradtion.
Go as low as 0.5

set "SamplingPrecision" to 1 or 2

Configure enblocal.ini:

[ANTIALIASING]

set everything to false for more fps. ENB antialiasing is quite fps hungry. You can use sweetfx antialiasing or FXAA injector for this purpose.

[ENGINE]

ForceAnisotropicFiltering  set it to false or lower the value of MaxAnisotropy more fps though it is very less fps hungry. But
you will gain few extra fps specially for low end rigs like mine. Recommended is to turn it on but set the value MaxAnisotropy to 4.

[MEMORY]

Set it according to STEP guides.

[GLOBAL]

UsePatchSpeedhackWithoutGraphics=false
UseDefferedRendering: set it to false for more fps. Setting it to false will disable some effect but you will gain some fps.
specially helpful for low end rigs.

Some ENB preset recommendation:

This guide will be helpful for almost any enb preset. But some enb presets get greater advantage from this.
some presets I use with these tweaks: (yes with this tweak I am able to use even snapdragonPrime enb at decent playable fps)

( No particular Order)
  • Caffiene
  • SnapDragonPrime
  • CustomSnapDragonPrime
  • Kwanon
  • Spectrum (performance friendly)
  • Falconian (performance friendly)
  • Verve (performance friendly)
  • Suki
  • Tetrachromatic.
  • Patrician
  • hrk2 (performance friendly)
  • NLA
  • Sky Pretty (performance friendly)
  • Gameplay Performance Enb (very performance friendly with realistic graphics even with DOF on )
  • Sakyamuni ( very peroformance friendly. Combine it with any ICBINE series to get very nice visual overhaul )

Some Useful tips for better performance and visuals

1. Play on low settings. modded skyrim with enb in low settings will look far more better than modded skyrim without enb or unmodded skyrim in higher settings.   Use Bethini for this purpose.
2. Use Ordenador to compress and optimize texture.
3. Reduce your in game resolution. You won't see much difference unless you have a powerful sytem with high resolution monitor.
4. Use skyrim project optimization
5. Use No more radial blur
6. Paramount FPS galore and Paramount Epitome
7. Don't use any follower framework if you have low end system. Use custom followers instead which use it own follower management system  if you want multiple follower.
8. Use high scripted mods as low as possible.
9. don't use HDT-SMP physics, use HDT-PE.

Some Mods that I use ( all available on this Site):

1. Relighting Skyrim +  ELE Lite ( best compatibility with most enb )
2. Cathedral / Obsidian Weather
3. Verdant grass / Mojo grass / Grass field R (performant)
4. Noble Skyrim Texture
5. Skyrim 2017 terrain parrallax.
6. Bent pines.
7. Enhanced vanilla tress.
8.Trees Addon
9. Sceptimonial Landscape
10. Ancient Land
