Guide - Modding RE games audio
So apparently, after a lot of requests regarding modding RE games audio, here's a little guide that will (hopefully) help you make (more) audio mods.
These should work on all modern-day Resident Evil games (and potentially other RE Engine games like MH or DMC).
It's what I followed when creating mods for RE2, and this mod for RE4R.
First, the process of modding bnk and pck are a little bit different (we'll see them in detail below).
But for both, I use these tools:
Fusion Tools for extracting the wems (can also extract them in WAV format)
RingingBloom for replacing the wems
VGMStream to listen to wems with FusionTools
Audacity for editing the extracted wav files
WWise Audiokinetic Launcher to convert the wavs to wems�... -

RE4R dialogues (and where to find them in files) - Part 1
I decided to make this article for those who intend to mod dialogue.
What you'll find here are:
- Where the dialogue are stored (pcks).
- For each file, the wems they contain.
- For each wem, their transcription in readable text.
You can find the pcks in this path (once you've extracted the pak):
natives\stm\streaming\_chainsaw\sound\wwise
So if you're looking for a particular scene, just type part of it's dialogue, and I'm sure you'll find the info concerning this scene.
The transcription process was done using an AI, and I didn't review ALL the text, so there WILL be mistakes, typos, etc.
You'll find a lot of "You"s, I'm sure the AI tried to transcribe screams maybe or grunts.
