I’ve always hated how, in vanilla, saving and then loading your game magically teleports you to a nearby location.
This mod was originally created for personal use to test my other mods, like Ambient World, but I decided to refine it and release it for everyone to use.
This mod allows you to save your location and the current time of day, but it does not save your progress. For progress saving, you’ll still need to save manually. It's highly recommended to turn on Autosave for this reason!
Also, only one location can be saved at a time, every save file will load you to the same spot and time unless you remove the txt file created by the mod.
How this mod works:
Open your Journal or Log (J or L on keyboard / Press or Hold Left D-Pad on controller) to save your exact location and time of day.
This will create Rededrunk_PersistentSave.txt in your main directory which stores your information to load later!
THAT'S IT!
Next time you load, you will be where you were!
This mod can be used for testing or a single playthrough where you want to be able to load in exactly where you were!
This mod is disabled during missions.
Requirements
ScriptHookRDR2 V2 is required.
Installation
Place Rededrunk's Persistent Save.asi in the main directory.
Uninstallation
Simply delete Rededrunk's Persistent Save.asi and the created Rededrunk_PersistentSave.txt. There should be no issue and your game saves will just load to where you last saved in that file.

- Please remember to use the in-game save system if you’re not relying on Autosave! This mod is designed specifically to save your exact location, but it doesn't track your in-game progress. I ran into too many issues trying to sync this mod’s save system with the game’s built-in save system.
- Occasionally, you might load in while performing an animation (like leaning), similar to the vanilla game behavior. It’s a minor quirk that I can’t fully remove, as the game sometimes forces this animation upon loading. Simply moving will clear it.
