If you encounter problems installing mods or engines for working with mods (Patcher, Redirector, Utilities, etc.), then most likely the problem lies in the following:
1) .Net Framework 3.5. Make sure that "Windows .Net Framework 3.5" is installed on your computer or its functions are activated.
2) the files in the Planetbase directory are marked as read-only. The problem many people have with installing the Patcher is that some files in the Planetbase directory are marked read-only. Thus, Mod Patcher (Patcher-1) cannot do its job. The solution is to go into the Planetbase directory, then select everything (both directories and files) and go to "properties". You will see in the properties that the "Attribute" field is marked in black. So click on the box until it's empty (no black checkmark), then click apply, then in the new window, answer "do this for all files and subdirectories". Close "properties" and check again. IF the Attribute field is cleared (read-only unchecked), you can re-apply the Patcher, this time it will work.
For those who get black windows when launching Patcher-1, the best thing to do is to uninstall, clear the "planetbase" entry with regedit, and then properly reinstall. Then check the attributes of files and directories for the possibility of overwriting (uncheck "read-only" in the properties) until overwriting is allowed in all folders and files of the game, then you can run Mod Patcher.
3) Addresses of directories and files are not in English. If you do not have a Steam version of the game: if the file location contains letters other than English (for example, Russian letters), experiment with installing the game in another directory without long file addresses and only English letters in the names.
4) Antivirus or operating system settings. Occasionally it happens that an antivirus, some program or operating system interrupts the execution of programs for working with mods. Check your antivirus settings and disable all other programs while patching. Try patching again and make sure the patching process is complete. Perhaps the operating system or some kind of antivirus program is preventing the Patcher from doing its job normally. When opening the file, give all permissions in the operating system, make it run as administrator.
This patcher from JPFarias works for all versions of the game (including 1.3.8). Most likely your problem occurred due to one of the following reasons described in the list "Main PROBLEMS OF INSTALLING MODS".
And I have good news for you!
You no longer need to try to install this patcher (created by JPFarias), since a newer and more functional patcher for the Planetbase game has now appeared (created by solidDoWant).
That is, old mods (2016) created to work with the old patcher (framework) from JPFarias now work perfectly on the new patcher (2023) from solidDoWant. Moreover, the new version of the patcher (from solidDoWant) has many new opportunities for creating and working mods that did not exist before. For example, mods with new buildings and items are now possible!

i think this is a very straight forward question, can you mod planetbase 1.1.3. because the patcher doesn't to work on the versions after 1.1.0. Please someone just answer this question succinctly please.

I've tried running the patcher almost two dozen times, on several versions of the game. I'm on Win10, mods folder empty, clean gameand install, no othwr progs running. Although I have MVS2015, I have no clue how to run the patcher in Debug mode. Help!

When I use this it gives me an error about a missing dll file and I should reinstall the program. I looked around and the file it mentioned does not exist. I'm not sure if it's just me or if the patcher need to be updated. I tried running the patcher as administrator and I got the same error. It also leaves some left over files where the patcher is located, and also deletes the 'Assembly-CSharp.dll' file.
I tried using it several times and each time it says there is a different dll file missing. But the rest is the same.
I am running v1.2.0 of the game on Steam using Windows 7.

I don't know if I'm stupid or not, but it doesn't work for me, the game has the [P] at the start screen indicating that I patched the game with this, so I put the mod dll files in the user/documents/planetbase/mods but they don't work in game, I got the free building mod and the camera mod, both don't seem to apply in my game
Edit: I got the skip intro mod for trial and that works, but the other 2 mods I mentioned don't...

Steam will not detect anything and everything will work. However, if a new version of the game comes out and you update the game via Steam, the mod patcher may stop working. Then you will need to re-patch the new version of the game you recently downloaded from Steam.

I found the files in my steam/steamapps/common/planetbase folder
Thanks for the quick response!
Selected the location of the required dll and only got it deleted.
