Would you know how to make it so that when you zoom out at 3rd person camera, the player character is at the bottom of the screen instead of in the middle?
When you zoom out normally and look straight ahead you cannot see the landscape for example, or your target if you shoot with a bow or cast spells

Do you mean from a bird's eye view still or like vanilla but with the camera being higher up above the player?

You could install this mod and just not enable the .esp file. Might be wonky though.
      Or maybe something like this?

Yes I mean with the camera being higher up behind the player.
I tried Camera Commands and those mods, but they just make the "wrist" of the camera very loose. If it would be possible to just have the vanilla zoom out make the camera being higher up it would be perfect.

Hmm... I could probably raise the camera up like I did with this mod, just not as high and without a camera lock. Although it will have the same problems: 1st person view will be wonky and both 1st and 3rd person views will probably be off-center when trying to activate something, but I may be able to alleviate that somewhat.

So yeah, I can do it, I just can't promise good results. It's just the way Oblivion's camera system works. I'll take a look sometime tomorrow and stick it in the optional files.

There we go! I tried to raise it a good bit, but not too high. This file is standalone, so you don't need the main file, but you do need to enable the included plugin so that you can pick things up, activate objects, etc.

I think it's not bad, personally, but let me know what you think.

Hi! I had some problems this weekend. I tried it now. But I need the 1st person camera to work. The 3d person is just how I wanted it, except that the crosshair is too high. It seems arrows hit between the crosshair and the character. I suspect one can fix that in the xml files. But I still need the 1st person camera to work. Are you sure it's not possible to put the camera above like that using only the 3d person skeleton?

Right, that can be fixed by editing the xml or the UI (I know Darn allows you to reposition it).

There isn't really any other way that I'm aware. Assuming NifSE still works (going from the comments, might not) I might be able to move the camera up and down when you toggle views.

I'm caught up with a Skyrim project at the moment, so it may take me a bit.

      No problem.
But you are saying that the camera actually exists in the skeleton? I opened the 3d and the 1st skeletons in nifscope and theren is a node called camera. And the game simply connects with that node?

Do you know how the mods that use Camera Commands work? They use the .dll called cameracommands, and I cannot open them (and I don't understand C anyway). But there is no new skeleton in them. The problem there is that the camera actually locks at that place, so you get a view of yourself from outside the walls when you are in a room and from behind buildings and cliffs when you are outside.

Exactly. For some reason it binds to the node in the 1st person skeleton even in 3rd person view. This mod works by raising that node along the Z axis.

I imagine that CameraCommands probably changes the way the camera binds or works (I know Oblivion Reloaded's camera changes does that) using OBSE and exposes those functions to Oblivion scripts, but making a dll like that is beyond my skills.

Yes I think it was Alenet who made Camera Commands.
I just got an idea reading your response, what about having a script that changes name of the 1st person skeleton when you switch camera view? Or is the skeletons loaded in when you start the game?
Now it's a long time ago but I tried different clothing model sizes once on a character, and I don't remember if it was enough with player.update3d or if I had to save and reload. I went to console, alt-tabbed out of the game, replaced one shirt with another (by changing the name or replacing the file) then I went into the game again. Like I said I don't remember if I reloaded the save everytime (which would have been more tedious than I could take) or if it was enough with update3d. If update3d was enough, then changing the name of a skeleton and run update3d when you change cameraview should be enough, as the skeleton is just another mesh file in the data folder just like clothing is.
And the 1st person skeleton could then be only that one camera node set high above the rest of the skeleton (I guess)

I imagine the skeletons are loaded into memory when the game starts, so I don't think changing files would work. There is a script function for changing the player's 3rd person skeleton, but obviously that wouldn't adjust the camera. I'm still leaning towards NifSE.

A friend of mine has been looking for a mod like this, first and third person over the shoulder views in games make them disoriented, so they haven't really been able to play the ES games before. Thank you for making this!

I admit, I never thought a mod like this would actually be beneficial for someone. Hope it works out!

    Very interesting concept.

Not my cup of tea, but glad to see your out of the box thinking!
