2019/07/16 UPDATED to version 1.7
Remodeled UI object icons (armor, clothes, clutter, lights, weapons). These icons need to be tested in-game.

The next phase of this mod will be to review all remaining textures to see if they can be improved with minimal effort. I also have a plan to create a new ayleid ruins theme.

Spoiler:
Show

2019/03/10 UPDATED to version 1.6
Almost every texture included in this version has been touched up as I reviewed each one to organize them for packing the modders resources.

Added faded mouse cursor.

Updated the modders resource archive.

The next phase of the texture remodeling is the UI Object Icons.

2019/03/01 UPDATED to version 1.5
Some files are now split up into categories to offer optional download choices. This allows the user to select their preference for UI changes.

2019/02/21 UPDATED to version 1.4
This Oblivion UI Texture Overhaul update includes the following:

• Fixed some incompatibilities with DarNified UI page extension.
• Improved the blending of DarNified UI menu backgrounds with the Oblivion UI Texture overhaul. There are still improvements to make as I learn more.
• Added an opaque overlay to the Morrowind-like backgrounds to improve legibility.
• Added more colorful menu icons.

My intentions are to finish remodeling the Map icons next. Eventually all the UI icons will be remodeled in color.

v0.09 has is now released. Reverted back to the original textures after discovering they were compressed properly. Changed only the center background for the generic textures. Hopefully the readme is a little more clear regarding the installations of this mod.
I still have many more UI textures to remodel, but it may be a few weeks before I am able to upload the final v1.0

2019/02/14 UPDATED to version 1.0. Fixed some inconsistencies with the textures. Some textures still need some more attention; specifically the DarNified UI textures that do not seem to blend as well as I would like. The next phase of the Obllivion UI Texture Overhaul will be to work on the Icons.

Current known issues:

In my own testing with Oblivion UI Textures Overhaul with other mods, I learned it conflicts with TD_Tombstones and Animated Window Lighting System for some reason. It must be loaded after TD_Tombstones and before AWLS or my game will CTD after selecting my option to Continue or start a New game. I'll try to figure out which texture(s) is causing this issue and get it fixed.

UPDATE: The incompatibly are with MO2, not with any other mods. I was testing MO2 while also testing my own mod. I will report this to the MO2 devs. That being said, I will upload a new version in a few days noting that MO2 users will either need to install Oblivion UI Texture Overhaul manually or with Wrye Bash.

I am still learning to improve my skills as I work on the Oblivion UI textures. My collaboration with a fellow mod author has afforded me the opportunity to experiment with techniques that result in a higher quality image. While any updates to my own mod here are being delayed, I hope you will all feel it will be worth the wait.

So unfortunately the colored menu icons display as error squares, or something similar. No actual icons except for a few items here and there, mostly like what you might expect to see from something like MissingNo from pokemon. Static-looking squares, I guess.

I got it fixed by re-downloading and re-extracting the files manually

Hello, thank you for your work.I used your mod a bit..but for my modded install(100+ mods..so pretty heavily modded..and i just started it last week, been playtesting) there seems to be a strange issue occuring..let me show you :
Strange Issue

As you can see the "shared_main_background_1_notile.dds" texture seems to show over everything in the UI..but im not sure why that is!
Would this be a conflict with ORC 1.9?
Im posting this here in case anyone else has this or saw this before..i dont necesarily consider it a bug since its not occuring when only your mod runs.

I don't currently have Oblivion installed to look this over, but one thing I can suggest is to hide the texture from my mod to see if it will resolve the issue for you. You can do this by simply renaming the texture shared_main_background_1_notile.DDS.bak or some similar extension that will prevent the texture from loading in game. I did not see anything in the preview of files in ORC that should interfere, but again, I currently have no way to check this out.

Apologies for not getting back to this. I need to install Oblivion and fix this. Or, if you know someone else who is willing, I will share my backup files with them and see if they would like to fix.

I have often thought of revisiting these textures, but I don't currently have Oblivion installed. Is there something specific you would like for me to update?

I like your texture redesign but I absolutely have no clue how to change the font color.

I have been studying why I have had such a hard time getting my textures to look seamless, and I think I finally have it figured out. I'm reworking most of the textures again, this time making them a bit more defined. I also have four new elemental themes I am working on; Air (Knights of the Nine), Earth (Shivering Isles), Fire (Oblivion Gates), and Water (Ayleid Ruins).

It may take me a few weeks. I'm sharing a few samples on my discord server (linked in my profile) to get opinions of what my members like best. Feel free to join us and share your opinion. Also, I will be making certain all icon colors match their corresponding textures. Some of my whites came out pink for some reason, so I definitely need to fix those icons from my last upload.

My progress has been delayed as I have been working to help an associate recolor a High Rock/Hammerfell map for his next mod. The good news is that I have learned a few more techniques that should aid me in improving my own Oblivion UI Texture Overhaul menu icons, especially the Cyrodiil and SI maps. Needless to say, it will be a few more weeks before I am ready to release the next update, but I am back my own projects once again.

Thank you. It has been a fun learning experience to remodel textures for one of my favorite games. My goal is to continue to improve my craftwork.

I am finally getting back onto finishing the UI Object Icons, but it will be a few weeks before I am ready to upload them as I am only able to work on them for a couple of hours each day. I will also be reviewing all other textures. If any of you have noticed textures that are off, please be certain to let me know as I work to finalize this mod. Also, if you wish for me to create compatible textures for other mods, I will need a link to that mod to review it. I will also, most likely, need to request permission from the mod author.

If you would like for me to add another theme, please be certain to post your request.

I have posted new screenshots with a sneak peak into the UI Icons remodeled textures I am currently working on.

Oblivion UI Texture Overhaul

[WIP] Oblivion User Interface texture overhaul.

Looks fantastic! It is good to know that people still care about these games. Newer games lore all came from these, and if you haven't played Daggerfall, Morrowind, and Oblivion you are always playing catchup. I am beginning not to like ESO because I can't take my time to read the lore. Players I am with want to rush through, get their rewards, and move on. They don't care about the lore, and the lore is why I play. Modders that still take the time to update these games and improve them keep it interesting. You do great work...

Thank you. I do love playing all of the TES games, but I have never played any of the online versions. Modding these games is also a passion for me. I hope to finish remodeling all of these textures before summer break. I find myself working on several TES projects at the moment, but it is my intention to finish them all and actually play these games again...lol...

Sorry for the delay in getting the rest of the UI Object Icons out. After the free release of Morrowind, I am tryin to update my Morroblivion Overhaul guide to help users install some essentials to get them started as we await the upcoming Morroblivion v065 release. I will come back to this texture overhaul as soon as I can.

My intention is to create a BAIN package for all the individual packages so that they are not scattered in seperate Main and Optional downloads. But before I do that, I need to actually finish remodeling all them in order to know how to best structure the BAIN package.
