    QuestHUD: What is this?

QuestHUD is a project I started to make quests display info and progress!
This means: you have the amulet and must take it to Jauffre. A "quest bar" will appear, with the quest icon, and says: "Take the amulet to Jauffre".
When you're searching for nirnroots, a quest bar will appear with your progress: "Nirnroots: 7 of 10"
All this is done with HUD Status Bars Enhanced. But as you remember... bars must be defined, in the ini!
And this is the goal of this project: create all files ini for the quests!

All files ini? How many? Why not the HUD Status Bars.ini?
With the new HSBE, you can simply place an ini called like a mod in the HSBE folder. If the mod is loaded, the ini get loaded as well by HSBE.
The same apply to quests: HSBE read the current active quest, then check if there's an ini for that quest, and eventually load it.
This way, you won't mix your main HUD bars (from HUD Status Bars.ini) with bars from mods and quests (which will have their separate ini).

So everything is ready... apart from ini! In the download section you'll find the QuestHUD package which only contains few ini for the first 5-6 missions and another ini for when you bet in the arena.
You can contribute to this project if you want. No "registration" nor nothing. Simply, if you create an ini, send it to me, and I'll put it in the download section and give you credits.

How to create these bars? Answer: "like you always do", except it's faster, thanks to a field called "tnoHSB.hud_quest".
You'll find more info in the user guide (and you can find many examples in the QuestHUD archive).

For any question about QuestHUD, ask me in the A&Q thread (On the FORUMS tab, just right of the POSTS tab)

    HSBE ini editor

Yes, the name says everything: this little program allow you to manage your ini and all your bars.
This way, it should be easier for everyone to use HSBE. In this initial release it already have many useful features (including a QF manager).
Make a backup of your ini, since the program is still in a BETA version, and I don't know if something bad may happen.

If you notice your ini is not loaded correctly (some bars are not loaded or some fields are lost/altered), DON'T SAVE and report the problem with the bar(s) which cause the problem.
DON'T POST YOUR WHOLE INI, just the bar(s) which cause problems

If you notice your ini is not saved correctly... I hope you made a backup! When you save, the program will ask you to overwrite or make a backup.

Do you want to know my ini? Take a look!

(I've disabled the default bars, weapon and spell icons and replaced them with new ones).
    Google doc

Also, take a look at other people's ini:
    maczopikczo's ini
    jatkinson85

If you want to share your ini, send it to me with a PM or upload it to an external site and send me the link. I'll add it in this post.
Anyway, DON'T POST YOUR WHOLE INI HERE!

Does this mod at all have a feature to auto hide your status bars when not needed? That is truly all I am looking for. I have only found one mod that does this (Immersive Interface), which is a great mod but makes the HUD incredibly small. I don't need any other changes, I just want an equivalent to skyrims iHud. Make the status bars fade or go away when  full and not needed.

Does anyone have an ini for the vanilla enemy health bar, the one under your crosshairs?

Hello, you can use Better Enemy Health from Davascript, it is already configured and you only have to make small changes in the ini (0 and 1) according to your preferences. It is optimized for NorthernUi, but i don't know for the others, I would have to try it.

So I don't know if I'm misunderstanding something or not but I'm trying to make the icons for the Basic primary needs icons mod to stay on the hud while in the inventory, stats, map, magic menus.

In the HSBE ini it says that having bMenuVIsible To 1 will do exactly what I want but when I enter "Set tnoHSB.bMenuVisible To 1" under any of the lines for each primary need in the Hud Status Bars ini it doesn't work.

Am I misunderstanding the bMenuVisible line or am I setting it up wrong?
I was testing it with only one of the primary needs but this is how its set up in the Hud Status Bars ini

    Set tnoHSB.bMenuVisible To 1
    Set tnoHSB.iMenuBarsDepth To -100
    set tnoHSB.hud_val to sv_Construct"BPN.HUDsleep"
    set tnoHSB.hud_color to sv_Construct"HUDcolorWhite"
    set tnoHSB.hud_max to sv_Construct"0"
    set tnoHSB.hud_min to sv_Construct"100"
    set tnoHSB.hud_textDisplay to HUDtxtPercent
    set tnoHSB.hud_textPos_y to HUDtxtAbove
    set tnoHSB.hud_textPos_x to HUDtxtCenter
    set tnoHSB.hud_custom to sv_Construct "Misc\moon"
    set tnoHSB.hud_size to 80
    set tnoHSB.hud_x to 7
    set tnoHSB.hud_y to 99
    SetStage tnoHSB 10

How do I disable the Encumbrance bar entirely? I just don't want it, it's causing me some problems and it doesn't really fit how I want to organize my hud

Edit: Seems like the Health/Actor refferences from the original mod won't work in this one, use the lines in the sticky note, there's quite a few that do the same functions

So, Neither of the HP bars for the crosshair is working, I point at a friend who's been wounded, Nothing, I point at an enemy attacking me, The Magicka and Fatigue show, but the HP? Nothing
I think it was working fine before installing this version of the mod, but I can't remember as I was trying to set other things first.

and I mean, the HP bar for enemy/friend doesn't even show, they arent missplaced, they dont bother showing up at all.

    please help

I had a hell of a time getting this mod to work, and I couldn't find anything online to help me install it using Vortex, but with some trial and error and a lot of cussing, I finally figured it out. So I thought I'd share what I did to make it work for those who are having the similar difficulties I had. I summed it up below too so people don't have to go through my entire narrative if they don't want to. I installed HUD Status Bars in the first place because I use Basic Primary Needs and wanted the bars that show my needs. So initially I downloaded the mod manually and chose a single folder from each of the categories 01, 10, 11 and 20 and added them to the Data folder for Oblivion. I also put the 00 Core, 99 Docs and omod conversion data folders in the Data folder as well. But the game wouldn't even register that I had HUD Status Bars at all. I did some more digging online and discovered HUD Status Bars Enhanced, and downloaded that with Vortex. I then went back and deleted the folders I had manually added to my Data folder for HUD Status Bars, then downloaded HUD Status Bars using Vortex as well. But when I started up Oblivion, I got a message that said "HUD Status Bars did not find its base ini file in Oblivion Data ini folder and it can't run". Cue banging head against wall. I scoured the file contents, but couldn't figure out which one the base ini file was. Then I got an idea. I still had the manual download of HUD Status Bars, so I copied Hud Status Bars - base.ini file from the 01 Orb style folder and put it in the Oblivion/Data/ini folder. I started up Oblivion again, and got another message that said "HUD Status Bars did not find its ini file in Oblivion/Data/ini folder". So I went back again and copied the Hud Status Bars.ini file from the 01 Orb style folder and put it in the Oblivion/Data/ini folder as well. Then I started Oblivion for the umpteenth time. IT WORKED!!! At this moment I did my happy dance, and thank God no one saw me, I'd have been arrested for crimes against nature. So this is how I got it to work, and I hope it helps others who are having the same frustrating experience I had.

Here's a summary of what to do:
Step 1: Install HUD Status Bars using Vortex
Step 2: Install HUD Status Bars Enhanced using Vortex
Step 3: Download Manual version of HUD Status Bars
Step 4: Extract HUD Status Bars 7z to location of your choice (I chose a folder I created on my desktop)
Step 5: Choose which style you want from the extracted HUD Status Bars folder, either 01 Orb Style, 01 Skyrim Style, or 01 Vanilla Style
Step 6: copy BOTH the Hud Status Bars - Base.ini AND Hud Status Bars.ini files from your chosen style folder into your Oblivion/Data/ini folder
Step 7: (Optional) If you use Basic Primary Needs, you will find a section on that mod page about HUD Status bars. Copy the coding from that page to the bottom of the Hud Status Bars.ini file you put in your Oblivion/Data/ini folder.
Step 8: Do your happy dance because you're done!

I'll post this on the Hud Status Bars posts page as well.

I have never played a game that vortex worked well for. Installing both mods is completely painless using Wrye Bash, and probably any other 2022-relevant mod manager as well.

Configuring this mod on the other hand, even with the java tool Forli made, is ten shades of hell. And I'm a programmer.

Hey all, I made a big post to try to fix something. But, now I've found the answer so I'll clean this up and just give everyone the solution.

So, right now in forli's ini (which you can get in the sticky post up top), there's an ammo section that is responsible of bringing up a count of ammo when you're using a bow (and have arrows equipped). His version doesn't work, since there's an error in the way things are done. But it's an easy fix.

    So, instead of this:
    ?set tnoHSB.hud_max to sv_Construct"$GetWeaponIsType 5"

    You need this:
    ?set tnoHSB.hud_max to sv_Construct"P$GetWeaponIsType 5"

Probably this is something he docs would tell you, but I just breezed through and didn't really study them so it was just luck that I found out thtis was a technique.

There are other mistakes in the ini, which I've corrected along the way. And, now it's in good shape. The enemy health comes up like it should. And, wounded npcs actually show you their health properly. I'll upload my fixed version, but it's slightly different from the way forli had it, in that the Orb compass is over to the right (instead of center), and the times have been repositioned to be less bold.

I've nearly finished what I wanted to do with it, so it won't be long before I can upload it. I'll edit this post once I have.
