Added an alpha mask plugin along with a readme file that describes how to install and use it (tutorial). And no, the readme was not created by the author sadly enough but at least it exists now.

I like this utility alot but I cannot get the Normal Map plug-in to work. I copy and pasted the dll into the effects folder but I cannot find it when I lauch paint.

EDIT-Nevermind I got the plug-in to work and it is very handy!

Palpenious, if you are familiar with GIMP, there is no need to mess with Paint.NET. Paint.NET is one step above the MS Paint program that comes with Windows but has support for DDS and multi-layers. GIMP can do much-much more. Paint.NET is really for those that are familiar with MS Paint but don't need much more capability and prefer the simple interface.

Basically, Paint.NET is descent for what it does but if you use GIMP, there is no need to use this program unless you just like the interface better and it does what you are needing.

I have it installed on my machine and the benefit is that on Windows 7, 64-bit, it loads up VERY fast. I am able to look at DDS files very quickly at the drop of a penny and easily save it to another format that my bigger editors can utilize. That's about all I use it for...oh, I also use it for cropping screenshots and converting file types.

I've had someone suggest this to me recently, but I've been using GIMP forever now. How do they compare? Would it be quick(er) to learn with GIMP experience?

04WigmoreB, I thought I made the requirements clear in the last post and the description.

Do you have "Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1" ? If so, try re-installing the framework again in case it is corrupted.

New version 3.5.1 uploaded along with a new Normal Map filter.
    - Windows 7 compatible.
    - Now requires Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 (instead of just 3.0)
    - Performance is much faster now.
    - Added new/updated Normal Map filter that works with 3.5.1

Dr BrainDamage, search the CS Wiki for "transparency" to find what you are looking for. Basically, you modify the NIF file to add a NiAlphaProperty and then modify the Alpha Channel of the texture to control opacity.
