This is still needed for merges, isn't it ? Are you still thinking of including it in the mod package ? Just wondering since you just released an update. =)
What are the odds I could convince you to add the other HD cloud textures from the original mod as an optional download? Tried my original, and HG has changed how the texture is oriented or something.
The HodgePodge texture should be in far better shape than the NASA one. I just grabbed the other image straight from NASA and put it on a sphere. Never occured to me to check it for issues, and I never used it beyond making sure it wasn't completely busted.
The HodgePodge texture was always more polished. I'm also assuming that whatever HG changed since I made it is a simple fix. I have an irrational distaste for the NASA texture. "Blue Marble" has been around for decades and overused, I can't unsee it.
Well, I'm not sure what's your issue here (beside the fact you dislike the blue marble texture). They added some random scramble to atmosphere a few updates ago. I was worried too at first not seeing the usual patterns (of the blue marble) but then I realized that this way, they somehow created unique atmospheric clouds for each planet, so all in all, the blue marble is barely recognizeable most of the time. More diversity, less blue marble patterns, it looks like a win/win, no ?
There were two textures in the original. I want a working version of the second. In its current state, the second texture from the original mod is clearly not working properly.
I can't tell as I can't reach your original mod anymore. In NMS the second texture is just a lower res version of blue marble. I don't remind what was yours.
Looks like the old nomansskymods site was absorbed by videogamemods? I downloaded it from there.
Yes, technically there are four total textures in the original. Wild guess the smaller texture is for the Catalogue imagery. I'm looking for the two "HodgePodge" textures. HG has clearly changed how they use the texture since 2016. The old texture currently does some strange banding/repeating.
Given you're still active, I just assumed it'd be an easy fix and a nice addition to the mod. The texture was already touched-up, unlike the NASA one, so it would likely just be an orientation issue. If I do it, I know I won't maintain it properly in the future. Seemed to make more sense keeping it all in one place.
Not a huge deal if you're not interested. I'll figure it all out again eventually. Thanks for your time either way.
if your texture has banding/striping ingame, it's because the vanilla texture is cached. to avoid this, you just have to rename the texture and change the call from the .Mbin to that new texture name. That's what this mod does in the material file. In the past I changed the texture header in the CACHE.SQS file but it's a big file and it becomes unmanageable once you have several mods editing cached textures.

Edit: Didn't even check this was Lo2k's and could check the Mod Status page... my bad :P

Any help would be awesome. Thanks.

Looks like I'm digging out the unpacker...
