Transform The Fort Arena into a gladiator spectacle!

Legion Arena Expanded - A Fort Arena Overhaul adds 10+ scripted battles, mini-bosses, new gladiators, and repeatable matches you can take part in as well as watch. Fight through captured NCR troopers and raiders, mini-bosses, Legion challengers, and more!

Like much of the Legion content in New Vegas, The Fort Arena was quite lacking in content and only contained a few stripped-down battles. This mod aims to change that and provide a challenge at all levels, with unique new enemies to face and additional ways to immerse yourself into a previously under-developed part of the game.

This mod improves The Fort Arena in the following ways:
  • Introduces numerous new fights with captives and gladiators after defeating Ranger Stella
  • Allows female couriers to fight in the arena if they do not have negative Legion reputation (shunned or lower will result in Otho using his vanilla lines)
  • Reduces the annoying message spam after each Arena match as your items are returned to you and replaces it with a single message
  • Vanilla arena matches now sometimes feature audience members
  • Introduces the ability to watch Arena matches, with scripted events: Praetorian challenges, Legion rivalries, and more!
  • Adds recurring fights with randomized human enemies that refresh every 3 days
  • Adds recurring fights with randomized captured creatures that refresh every 3 days
  • Introduces recurring fights for spectator mode that also refresh every 3 days
  • Adds an audience to matches that grows with each triumph
  • Experience Caesar's presence in high-stakes matches, if he is alive
  • Adds immersive crowd sounds and reactions during boss fights like The Thorn to amplify the Arena atmosphere
  • Adds a new gladiator armor (seen in Caesar's New Regime, thanks to dragbody for allowing its use here!)
  • Removes the jarring pop-up message box after each match
  • Adds a new way to gain Legion fame and XP as well as loot
  • New voice lines to Otho and Caesar, both clipped from Vanilla dialogue and fit smoothly into the game

Many hours of bug testing were completed to ensure fights run smoothly, but if you encounter any bugs please let me know!

To start this mod, simply talk to Otho at the Fort and go through the normal process of fighting the first few battles. Continue speaking to him and choose from more battles to fight, or matches to watch. As you fight through each enemy, your fame in the arena will grow and more Legionaries will come to watch your fights!

Recommended Mods:
Legion Arena Expanded is fully standalone and does not require any DLCs or additional mods to use. However, this mod is enhanced further when using the following mods:
Imperium Radio
Factions Reloaded - Legion
Legate Lanius Doesn't Run Away
Caesar's New Regime
Nova Arizona
PM's HD Legion Overhaul

Potential Conflicts:
It is not confirmed if this mod conflicts with any others at this time, but the biggest contenders are the following:
  • Fort Open mods. This is because some of those mods enable and disable NPCs, which can sometimes disable Otho and other important NPCs. This mod adds a new trigger near the Fort Camp entrance which should make sure Otho and Antony are always enabled.
  • Certain companion mods. This mod should be compatible with vanilla companions (The vanilla companion arena script was re-used for each battle and will disable/re-enable them during each fight), but if you have multiple companions or modded companions that likely will not be accounted for by the game, it is best to make them wait outside.
Credits:
Credits are also posted in the Permissions and Credits section, but wanted to include a shout-out here as well.
Thank you to NeoCypher for your continued help and support of these mods! NeoCypher has assisted with bug-testing and quality control, idea generation, mod promotion, and has created a trailer for Legion Arena Expanded!
Thanks to Dragbody for allowing the use of Caesar's New Regime (CNR) assets to be used here. Only one armor is utilized here as we didn't want to be duplicative of their mod, and if you'd like a more Roman-feeling gladiator experience feel free to use CNR while fighting through the arena.

Changelog:
V1.0
  • First Release

V1.1
  • Female characters can now fight in the arena unless shunned or lower in reputation with the Legion. I didn't want to completely destroy the lore, so Otho will not let female characters with negative Legion rep fight in the arena (and will still say his regular lines), but if you are neutral or higher he will let you.
  • Added recurring fights against captured creatures - currently there is a mini bighorner, giant radscorpion, fire gecko, nightkin and super mutant. More to come in the future!
  • After winning his fight, the praetorian now equips a ballistic fist correctly instead of a power fist - thanks @FrumentariiFunnybone for the catch!
  • Enemies from recurring fights will no longer spawn looking sideways or away from you (lol)
V1.2
  • Fixes creatures being entirely too strong. This was due to the leveling system applying insane buffs to creatures as they level up
  • Adds nightstalkers to the creature list to fight
