FAQ
* Is BTAN compatible with [insert mod here]? * BTAN should be compatible with everything that does not touch timescale / needs stuff. Anything that does touch those things, like JSawyer Ultimate, will be overwritten by BTAN (if it comes later in the loadorder) or will overwrite it (if it comes before) but because BTAN is just a bunch of scripts and doesn't explicitly mess with anything, in theory it should all just work. Personally, I use JSawyer and BTAN works fine with it.
* Yeah but what about Clockwork Vegas? * I run with Clockwork Vegas, it was a large part of why I decided to make this in the first place, and it works perfectly for me
* TTW? * There's nothing TTW exclusive that I know about so it should work fine, no patches required!
* I read somewhere that messing with timescale is gonna kill me / cause events to break / cause all sorts of other problems. How you plan to deal with that? * Well if you're worried about timescale, there's an .ini for that; check the files. That being said, I haven't run into any issues with it in my testing so ymmv. I put a lot of work into accounting for what I could with timescale and I like having it slowed way down so I'm willing to try to fix issues that it may cause.
* Bro, your widgets suck. Can you make them more inline with [other mod / style preference] or get rid of them entirely? * Unfortunately, for HUD needs to work correctly at all with how much we're messing with them, I had to completely replace the vanilla needs HUD, so the widgets must stay. However, if you don't like them and have suitable replacements, check the Description under Customization
* Can I install this mid-playthrough? * Yep! Of course I'm legally obligated to say that you should probablyjust start a new game but there should be no reason you can't just drop it in and rock on.
* How hard is this going to hit my performance? * As far as my testing has gone it should have next to no impact on performance. BTAN is built almost entirely (except for 2 lines of code) in event handlers so virtually nothing runs frame-by-frame (and even those 2 lines only run every .5 seconds).
* Can you implement [insert mechanic here]? * Probably not. If I have any ideas of my own in the future, I'll add them but I don't love being beholden to things that I create for free. You're welcome to ask but I reserve the right not to do anything
* I'm experiencing [insert bug here], can you fix? * Feel free to leave a post or a bug ticket on that tab and I'll get to it when I get to it. I'm only one person and modding is only one of my hobbies so I'm not going to habitually check this for new issues and slavishly polish it to a mirror shine.
* Thoughts on reposting? * If you do I'll send my dad after you, and he works at Nintendo! (Fr tho pls don't)
* Yada yada best mod ever, how can I support? * The day I get paid for this stuff is the day it stops being fun. Just endorse the page and leave a comment if you feel really strongly about it.
I cant actually get this mod to work at all. I've installed all the plugins and everything but it's not changing anything. I notice no difference between using the mod and vanilla. I made sure all the plugin .dlls were in the right place and checked the version numbers in the console, all good.
I don’t understand what I’m doing wrong, but this mod isn’t working no matter how I try to get it to work. I tried manual installation, FOMM, and MO2 to no avail. Then I got worried that I installed JIP, ShowOff, NVSE, or SUP NVSE wrong and quadruple checked. Then I worried that I had to install xNVSE instead of NVSE and did so to no avail. Still seem to be getting the regular Hardcore mode and UseCustomHardcoreNeeds=1 seems to not exist according to it?
I’m getting frustrated, especially since I’m almost certain it’s something I’m doing that’s keeping it from working. Maybe I installed SUP wrong, since the others pop up on the console screen when I pull it up, but not SUP. Otherwise I can only think I installed BTaN wrong.
Any way someone can explain this for dummies like me?
Sorry for taking a while to get back to you, no idea if you've just given up on it at this point but figured I may as well try to help. What behaviour ARE you seeing? Is it acting as if the mod isn't installed at all?
I'm pretty sure it's probably SUP at this point, because I switched to using MCM Hardcore and The Hud Editor and a few others. It was acting like neither mods were installed, from what I saw, considering that it did not mention SUP at all in the console.
Just can't get this to work. I only care about the icons and they don't show up. I've tried a fresh new game with only the 4 required mods installed, installed manually, via vortex, made sure the esp is loaded, just doesn't work in game at all
So what do you mean by "doesn't work"? Like none of the listed features are working, or only some of them? I know some people have encountered an issue where the .ini file isn't in the correct directory (Data/Config/) which may be happening for you and would cause issues.
Well like I said I only want the icons, yet in game it still says "h20", "slp", "fod", etc.
All the files are in the right place, I tried dragging them to the right folders manually yet in the game it just doesn't give me the correct needs widgets
Probably just me lol, but I missed the main file and only installed optional. Loaded both main & widgets and it's working good. Hope you got yours working.
Thanks Disschorde. Mod is clean, way better than corner messages!
So this mod separates interior and ext timescale, but does it let you adjust the timescale respectively, or is it hardcoded at a specific value? - Should have read more carefully ;). Also, JIP LN NVSE Plugin has bGameDaysPassedFix & bHardcoreNeedsFix fixes. How will your mod interact with those? Thanks!
I like the idea, the new widgets and so on. So thanks for the mod. But I'm a bit uncertain about values, especially if compared with the very large "ability" of vanilla (and even custom) food/drink to restore your dehydration/starvation condition. For example, I think that having "You suffer of minor starvation" when my hunger value reaches 19 is too low. Almost the same for all other values regarding the other needs.
Have you even considered to introduce a MCM with sliders (sort of) letting the Player to set the various thresolds?
It does, since values rise based on in-game hours, not real-life hours. But hey, it's consistent, that a human gets hungry/thirsty after certain amount of hours.
I think the Don't Fear the Timescale settings don't overwrite the main file's ini because it isn't in a "config" folder, I made a folder named that and placed the ini in there and mo2 overwrites it correctly now
