This ambitious mod seeks to fill out the Mojave's more barren areas with details and level design I hope breathe some life into the at-times uncannily barren gameworld. Obsidian's brutal deadlines in all likelihood contributed to the barrenness of the gameworld, but with no timeline and over a year of off and on work I hope to have added enough to make the Mojave's most boring areas seem at least a little more interesting. 

This mod is inspired by my time playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R Anomaly and the vibe of the classics. I was impressed with how detailed and lived in the Zone was in Anomaly and felt it contributed to it's heavy ambience and immersion, I just had to see if New Vegas could be helped in a similar way. 

While not required, I HIGHLY recommend you use this in conjunction with the Wasteland Flora Overhaul - Vanilla tree replacer with LOD file under Wasteland Flora and Terrain Overhaul. This file does not include the vast sweeping changes of WFO, but better models for many plants I utilize in this mod.

As of now this mod includes but is not limited to:
1) Hundreds of hand-placed rocks, cliffs, and plants.
2) Dozens of bodies and skeletons in various states of decay to add to the Mojave's ambience and reputation as a post-apocalyptic wasteland. The vibe of the classics (especially the music) tended to remind the player at all times, at least subconsiously, that they were standing in the ashes of billions dead, I wanted to re-capture some of that bleakness with this addition.
3) Graffiti, including new and vanilla graffiti courtesy of the Frontier team, who gave permission for limited asset use in this project.
4) More trash in general, see used drugs littering the streets outside Freeside and New Vegas, these items have been nifskope mashuped to reduce object count. I hope to capture a more destitute and bleak Wasteland with this and the bodies above.
5) Tents and clutter to some areas of outer vegas.
6) More vehicle wrecks in general, with some being new assets in a vanilla-adjacent aesthetic.
7) A campground sign scheme consistent with that of Honest Hearts has been added to many campgrounds in the Mojave.
8) The Bitter Springs massacre site has been touched up with more graves (seriously are you telling me only 13 people died there?) and some added shell casings as remnants.
9) The no man's land between Forlorn Hope and Nelson has had bodies, crows, vultures, shells, and more added.
10) Inaccessible portions of the hills surrounding Hoover Dam have had sniper towers, artillery, and bunkers added for a more fortified appearance. 


You will need textures from Bale's Micro Clutter in order for the nastier bodies to have the proper textures. If for some reason you object to installing the textures from Micro Clutter there is a nasty bodies free version in the optional files, meaning it has no requirements and can be utilized off the bat.

This mod was created with compatibility for the following in mind. There should be no issues and if there are they should manifest as minor clipping of static objects.

I am giving open permission now to anyone who wishes to edit this mod for compatibility patches. I have no intention of making it any more compatible than it already is with the three mods listed above. I would be happy to host patches on this page or have you post them separately, you have my permission to make whatever edits to this file you may please.

See the permissions tab for a list of all assets used that I got permission to package in the mod. Some were obtained with permissions through PM I would be happy to provide, and others are from modder's resources. All assets packaged in the mod have had specific, asset by asset, permissions obtained from their original mod authors.

Questions and Answers:
Q: Is this compatible with MoreMojave and World of Pain?
A: I don't know, I use neither and have no intent to. You are free to make a patch as stated above.

Q: Will this impact performance?
A: High object counts definitely can, but I purposefully did not go overboard both for that and time purposes. I have noticed no performance drop on my older (2018) machine. Almost every object has been added as a static, which should help performance.

Q: Should I regenerate LOD after this?
A: I don't think it's necessary, but it's up to you. All the new cliffs in this may be too many polygons for LOD so maybe you might want to leave this off when you generate LOD. I have not included anything crazy and standout that would cause uncanny pop-in.

Q: Does this mess with Navmeshes?
A: I don't think it does, I tried my best to avoid and minimize navmesh impacts because I haven't yet learned how to edit Navmeshes properly. Most new rock formations are within mountains, sunken into the ground sufficiently for characters to pass over them, or are placed within or within disabled vanilla rock locations where the navmesh already goes around the obstacle. All new objects should be flagged as obstacles for AI to negotiate around. This way we've avoided an esm and I don't spend an extra year messing with Navmeshing.

I plan on eventually releasing a sister-mod for this called Trashed Interiors, which aims to take a similar level of detail and add it to the Mojave's interiors to make them look more in line with buildings that have apparently been standing 200+ years. As the title states this mod is a WIP, however after working so much on it I have grown to hate New Vegas and modding, combine that with reaching an important crossroads in my personal life and I am taking a step back from modding for the next few months. I hope this release go smoothly in light of that.
