Thank you for downloading Classic Vault Girl, Interface, Upscaled.
This pack represents a labor of love, and required several weeks of algorithm testing and refinement to reach the state in which it was released. Several new techniques and tools were created during the development of the upscale pipeline; this icon pack was every bit a teacher as it was an end product.
While I will be supplementing the pack with upscales covering the last few disparate icons tragiverse released, the state you see the pack in today will largely be the state the pack is in for time to come.
Big thank you to tragiverse, for creating each of these icons, to begin with, and for having the patience to oversee my empty-headed foolishness along the way. Eleven years ago, tragiverse first released the New Vegas version of this pack, and while new technologies and techniques have lifted New Vegas into the realm of godhood, the icons remain as beautiful as the day of first posting.
hi, i have a question, i have darnified ui and i will like to keep it like that with the default hud too, do I need to have vanillaui for it to work?, or I can stick with darnified ui and the regular hud, without any problems to the mod, thx for your amazing work too :D
i'll be real: i have no idea. if you delete the xml file in this mod package, it might work just fine without VUI+ or oHUD. i haven't really done any testing. when i initially released the upscale, DarN's mods were pretty much extinct from the internet. before i uploaded it, i tested that the mod worked on my machine with my personal loadout. that was all the testing i did.
hey i would love to use this mod but for some reason it eats my compass not the brackets or the outline nor enemy or locations but the compass itself could someone more used to modding help me understand why and if it is possible to fix it
at the time i had initially upscaled this, esprunner was not yet capable of texture swapping. now that it is, i do not have the time to write several very long esprunner scripts to do that. plus, there is a sizeable number of new vegas players who refuse to use modern xnvse, so that would result in many bug reports (that could be resolved by the end user installing a current xnvse release)
Thank you for making this mod. Now I don't have to sacrifice CPI if I wanna use tragiverse's work without large variations in image quality.
By the way, would it be reasonably possible to make a version of this with 512x512 icons instead of 1024x1024 to be more in line with CPI? The current icons seem to cause stutter in the weapons and apparel menus whenever the game loads in a new icon.
thanks for writing in. sorry about the performance issues! i didn't think to test on different hardware configurations, and in doing so, didn't notice performance issues that could impact the vast majority of new vegas players, yourself included. for that, i apologize.
i'm uploading a 512px version that should be more performant. only the apparel and item icons have been downscaled to 512px; i've left the HUD at its ridiculous 4096px size (for sharpness) and the vito-matic textures at their maximum upscaled size. because the vitomatic textures are only encountered once in the game there shouldn't be any performance issues for regular play sessions, and i feel the sharpness of the HUD (textureshared0.dds) makes up for the slight increase in VRAM usage compared to vanilla or a 2x upscale.
i do plan to revisit this project in the future as i feel there are a few optimizations left to be made, but i simply do not have the time right now to achieve the last final optimization push the art deserves.
I tried this with the Unofficial Darn UI Update and all the icons worked except for the main one on the status menu page. Is there a way that I can tweak it to fix that? Thanks! :D
Would it be possible to create a version of this mod that integrates the icons from the PS4 button prompts mod? I play with a PS4 controller and I love this mod, but having the button icons be Xbox ones feels kinda weird. Either way, thanks for making this mod! Way easier to get working than the original and it looks fantastic!

Please enjoy this release!
i don't have time to rebuild the paperdoll without UIO and oHUD, but using these relatively simple instructions somebody can.

my thoughts:
if you have oHUD installed, make sure to install the latest oHUD / Darnified TTW patch from the oHUD page ( https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/44757?tab=files ).
