About this mod

Improved visuals for ALL named human NPCs. Now includes automatic support for DLC outfits!

Requirements
Permissions and credits
Improved NPC Textures replaces the textures of all named human NPCs with nicer, less blurry ones without drastically changing the look of anyone. This does not include any of the pets, horses, Ack, or nameless NPCs such as random tourists.
The improvements range from subtle (Arlo, for example) to very noticeable (Gale), with a general focus on prettier eyes.

Version 1.1 automatically chooses the right texture for NPCs with DLC clothing, no fudging needed.
Important: If you update from v1.0 please delete all files from the old version to avoid compatibility issues!

You don't need to upgrade to v1.1 if you don't use or have the DLC, though (but you'll miss out on optional Phyllis below).

Requirements:

You will need to have the Unity Mod Manager installed as well as Custom Textures.

The technical side:
All textures were enlarged and denoised with Waifu2X, then reduced back to their original size (see exceptions below). On many textures, the eyes were manually edited (or completely redrawn in the case of Gale). Also a few other minor fixes and adjustments. Finally, all textures were losslessly compressed as much as possible with PNGGauntlet to save space and RAM (about 11MB, yay). Some of the textures of NPCs with DLC outfits were cut up to their respective parts, again to save space, but some turned out too be too much work for too little benefit and left as is.

Noteworthy Stuff:
Some of the textures are larger than their vanilla counterparts, namely...
  • Emily's face - Her eyes are actually tiny and get blown up to a blurry mess otherwise.
  • Nora  - Because how her eyes are handled (trust me, you don't wanna know).
  • Mint's face - It was kinda low-res.
  • Ginger - Because she deserves something nice for once.
  • Sam - The mod is missing files for her standard clothes and hair/hat (because I have no idea how to get them to work), but her textures are high-res in the first place, so it doesn't make that much of a difference.
  • Gust - No improved textures for his DLC hair, hat, and coat. Again, no idea how to get them working, my bad.

Optional Files:
There are a few optional files, most of them revert changes I made due to personal preference. [Corresponding file name]
  • Nora with blue eyes - Her picture actually has blue eyes, so you may prefer that. [4000006.png]
  • Phyllis with her original blue eyes - She used to have green eyes in the alpha, and I think it suits her better. Maybe you don't. [4000035_Phyllis_Face001_DLC7_LOD0.png]
  • Mei's vanilla design - The standard version is closer to her picture (blonder hair, less lipstick, less vivid eyes, less ugly), use this if you want the old design back. [4000052.png]
  • Gust with original tiny pupils - If you like that piecing gaze. [4000091_Gust_Face001_DLC7_LOD0.png]
  • Dr. Xu with original HUGE eyes - Seriously, they were huge. Use this if you prefer huge. [4000092_Doctor_xu_Face001_DLC7_LOD0.png and/or 4000092_Doctor_xu_LOD0_Face.png]
  • Petra with original frontal alopecia - There's no accounting for taste, I suppose. [4000094.png]
  • Martha's original psychotic look - Self-explanatory. [4000019.png]
  • Higgins with sideburns - They suit him. [4000097.png]
  • Corporeal Toby - In case the standard one is too spooky for you (and yes, I really don't like him). [4000005.png]
  • Allen Carter - I actually gave him a bit of a redesign to set him apart from the Workshop Representative with the same texture. If you don't want him to be individual for some reason, this is for you (I also fixed the squint on both of them). [4000121.png]
  • NEW IN v1.1: Even sluttier sexier Nurse Phyllis! - You know you want it. [4000035_Phyllis_LOD0_Clothes.png]

Installation:
After you've installed the Unity Mod Manager and Custom Textures, move the asset folder from the zip to:
*\Steam\steamapps\common\My Time At Portia\Mods\CustomTextures
For any optional files, copy the file with the corresponding name from the Optional folder in the zip to the asset folder and allow them to be overwritten.

Thanks:
A big Thank You! to aedenthorn for making Custom Textures and many other great mods for this game!
And also thanks to you if you actually read all this. Drop me a comment if you like.
