About this mod

Dramatic Vivec updates the largest city in Vvardenfell by completely overhauling the lighting system, and adding flowerbeds, signs, and monuments. This is a version of the ESP that is compatible with Beautiful Cities of Morrowind (BCoM).

Dramatic Vivec v4.2.1 BCoM Edition v1.3.1
ESP Replacer for use with Beautiful Cities of Morrowind

This is an ESP replacer for Dramatic Vivec, for use with Beautiful Cities of Morrowind (BCoM) v2.0.5. The main thing this does is move the Foreign Quarter clutter and lights to where the FQ sits in BCoM.  As of v1.3 there is a Redux version with less objects, with the aim of improving framerate.

This is what's been done ->

  • Drop Vivec Temple (3/4,-13) cells since already included in BCoM.
  • Drop most of the banisters (except Redoran) but Framerate still suffers.
  • Edit/fix link between Foreign Quarter and other quarters.
  • Move all of the Dramatic Vivec FQ stuff to where the Foreign Quarter now is.
  • Add Lights where there was a static lamp but no light to go with it (Arena).
  • Move a ton of clutter AWAY from walls; no more clutter clipping through walls.
  • Drop a few clutter items here and there, you won't notice.
  • Drop some suspicious edits to Puzzle Canal cells.
  • Drop NIF EDIT to the Shrine to stop the Moon (v1.1 Thanks Bixbalas!)

Version 1.2 ->

  • Patched for BCoM v2.0.4 (removed some planters in the corners of the cantons)
  • Dropped all lights that had no emitter (e.g. next to Arch-Bridges and here and there)
  • Dropped all extra "canton" banners (just a few) as BCoM has enough banners already.
  • Made a "Normal Lights" version for use with The Midnight Oil and Nocturnal Moths.
  • Made patch (esp replacer) for Nocturnal Moths, to be used with Normal Lights Dramatic.
  • Included the TLAD Daylights (Necro's Modular) ESP for BCoM.
  • Other small improvements.

Version 1.3 ->

  • Fixed a bench overlap when using Imperial Employment Office
  • Brand new Redux version.

Version 1.3.1 ->

  • Examined using TES3View and found a few objects had creep'ed in the ESP's that should not have - All cleaned-up now.

So now there are 3 versions of Dramatic Vivec for BCoM:

  • The regular version uses static streetlights as before; they do not emit actual light. What emits light are invisible lights placed next to the statics. This looks better, but it's not compatible with The Midnight Oil nor with Nocturnal Moths, and the lights remain turned on all day long.

  • There is now a Normal Lights version, which replaces the static streetlights with real Morrowind Lights @ 350 radius. The invisible lights were dropped everywhere except inside the "tunnels" that climb up between the levels. What this means is that if you use The Midnight Oil, the outside Vivec lights will turn off during the day. For best effect, set Midnight Oil  to turn off/on all the lights at the same time, as it looks kinda strange when half the Vivec lights are off and half are on. PLEASE NOTE That the Morrowind Engine has issues with lights that are very close to surfaces. When I made the Normal Lights version, I found light seams on the sides of all the upper bridges. So there are no lights on the sides of bridges in the Normal Lights version; this fixes most seams, but you might find some elsewhere...

  • Redux version, which should improve frame-rate but look much the same (do not expect miracles, it has to look like DV, but you do have about 250 objects less per Vivec cell, which is an appreciable amount):

        - Based on the Normal Lights version.
        - Deleted some planters, where you would not notice too much.
        - Simplified some planters (hopefully I did not expose seams).
        - Less plants in planters, especially those little blades of grass.
        - Less clutter everywhere, but especially the dealers in the Arena.
        - Brought the banisters in Redoran up some (to bring the lights up).
        - Dropped the "Ribs" in the tunnels (sorry, not essential).
        - Dropped lights at the entrances to the plazas (superfluous).
        - Fixed a few things that are only in this version.

Nocturnal Moths with DV Normal Lights support:

There are now 2 Nocturnal Moths ESPs included with Dramatic Vivec BCoM. One is for use with True Lights and Darkness v1.4+ and one is for use without. These are ESP replacers, use ONE of them INSTEAD of the one you get with the Nocturnal Moths package (which you still need for the textures etc). Here are the changes compared to Nocturnal Moths v1.2.1 ->

  • Supports the Dramatic Vivec Normal Lights' Streetlights (but you can use without Dramatic Vivec for the other benefits)
  • The moths will appear at a greater distance than before, about as far as you can see, unless you run really fast (you'll get close too fast).
  • The True Lights and Darkness version has 600 Radius High Quality Lanterns and longer lasting lanterns/torches.

Installation

00 Pick ONE of ->

00 Dramatic Vivec BCoM esp
Replacement ESP (replaces "Dramatic Vivec.esp")

00 Dramatic Vivec BCoM Normal Lights esp
Replacement ESP (replaces "Dramatic Vivec.esp")

00 Dramatic Vivec BCoM Redux esp

01 Pathgrid Reset Vivec Arena

This is for loading AFTER the BOM_pathgrid_reset.
It edits the pathgrid in the Arena sector where the vendors are.

02 Pick ONE of (optional) ->

02 Nocturnal Moths esp replacer TLAD
Replacement ESP for use with True Lights and Darkness (Load this AFTER BOTH TLAD and Dramatic Vivec)

02 Nocturnal Moths esp replacer Vanilla
Replacement ESP for use without True Lights and Darkness (Load this AFTER Dramatic Vivec)

03 TLAD Daylights for BCoM (optional)

If you are using Necro's Modular TLAD, or if you are using Let There Be Darkness instead of TLAD,
then you may want to add the daylights ESP to your list of mods. This adds daylights to a few places
in Morrowind, i.e. as the day dawns, light progressively spills inside the building from its windows.
This version is for use with BCoM.

Thanks

  • LondonRook for the base Mod.
  • Necro for the separated Daylights TLAD ESP.
  • RandomPal for Beautiful Cities of Morrowind.
  • Reizeron for Nocturnal Moths.
