Beastly Abilities gives Argonians and Khajiit powerful racial abilities to make up for their drawbacks, make playing them more interesting, and add to immersion.

  • Changed the names of abilities to be more diegetic, less game-like.
  • Changed the Argonian poison ability. Spit Poison is now Spray Venomous Blood. A relatively weak poison, but it has a 70 point demoralize effect on humanoids and creatures. However, it will cost you 15 hp, as you spray blood out of your eyes like a horned lizard.

Included the Beastly Abilities 1.40 Patcher.esp as a way to install the new abilities on existing characters. See installation instructions below.

Why?

The beast races don't have it easy in Morrowind. They are constantly enslaved, their animations are jank AF, and they can't wear boots or helms (goodbye, Boots of Blinding Speed; goodbye, full suit of Daedric armor). Beastly Abilities attempts to balance those drawbacks out by adding unique, powerful, and race-specific abilities and spells to Argonians and Khajiit. These should make playing an Argonian and Khajiit feel not like playing a Dunmer but without the ability to wear shoes, but instead fundamentally different from playing any other race. It also includes resistances and weaknesses to make the races more interesting to play. It is a continuation of my mini-mod Argonian Racial Swift Swim.

Features

Argonian Abilities

  • Tail Propulsion - Argonians are now faster in water than on land. With their water breathing and unique swim animation, this looks as if it should always have been this way. Swift Swim 70 points.
  • Gilled - Water Breathing is now natural to Argonians, no longer a spell.*note that there is one questline in the game that requires you to drown. Damaging yourself through other means will solve this.

Daily Powers

  • Spray Venomous Blood - Argonians can now poison on touch once a day, to scare off predators. 5 poison damage for 30 seconds, demoralize creature and humanoids 70 points for 30 seconds.

Resistances and Weaknesses

  • Cold-blooded - Being reptilians, Argonians are vulnerable to cold. 25% weakness to frost.
  • Hard Scales - The skin of an Argonian is tough and thick. 25% resistance to fire.
  • Resist Common Disease - Same as vanilla. 75 points.
  • Resist Poison - Same as vanilla. 100 points.

Khajiit Abilities

  • Cat Legs - All Khajiit can now jump very high and receive little fall damage. Jump 7 points, Slowfall 10 points.

Daily Powers

  • Cat Leap - Khajiit can now make incredible leaps to get out of harm's way or to reach hard-to-get-places once a day. Jump 10 points, Fortify Speed 20 points for 5 seconds.
  • Eye of Fear - In addition to intimidating humanoids, Eye of Fear now intimidates creatures as well. 100 points for 30 seconds.

  • Thick Fur - Khajiit are covered in thick fur, which keeps out the cold. However, hair is highly flammable. 25% resistance to frost, 25% weakness to fire.


How to Update from an old version

Simply install the latest version and play, no weird patching needed.

How to Install

For starting a new game, Beastly Abilities.esp is enough. For an existing character, THIS WILL REMOVE MOST OF YOUR POWERS. To install on an existing character, see below.
 
For an existing character, install Beastly Abilities Patcher.esp first. 
This is a version of the mod with all new spells added, but without them added to the player. The reason for this is a bug because of which you can't use the console to give yourself racial abilities the game THINKS you already have, even if you don't have them.
The patcher removes all your racial abilities, so that the console commands will actually give them to you.

How to install on an existing character step by step:
1. Install Beastly Abilities Patcher.esp
2. Load up your save.
3. Use the console to add your new racial spells:

player -> addspell "name of spell"

Quotation marks included.

Argonian spell names:
ba_argonian_breathing
ba_argonian_blood
ba_argonian_poison
ba_argonian_scales
ba_argonian_swimming

Khajiit spell names:
ba_catfur
ba_catleap
ba_catlegs
ba_cateyeoffear

4. Save and exit the game.
5. Deactivate Beastly Abilities Patcher.esp
6. Activate Beastly Abilities.esp
7. You're ready to play.

To do:
  • Include night eye toggle.
  • Beastly Abilities Lite. This will include the swift swim and waterbreathing for Argonians, the new eye of fear and higher jumps for Khajiit, but will remove the more invasive stuff like new resistances and weaknesses, as well as the "cheaty" things, like free poison damage and huge leaps. For a better, more vanilla-style beast experience.

Recommended Mods

Eye of Night Toggle, of course.
These to make Argonian swim abilities actually worth it:
Water Life by abot, which adds tons of fish, starfish, crabs, snails, and other deep-sea critters, including whales and sharks. Now you'll actually want to explore underwater. Furthermore, different temperature zones have different fish. You're not likely to find tropical fish around Solstheim. 
Vurts Corals adds corals and reefs to the ocean floor. Looks really nice in conjunction with Water Life.
Enhanced Water Shader makes the water 1. very pretty and 2. quite clear. You'll be able to sea the Water Life fish swimming around and dive in yourself.

Unique Ocean Landscapes is also worth checking out, but seems to have been abandoned after completing the West Gash coast. Furthermore, it is not compatible with Vurts Corals.
