Hi there. First off, great mod, exactly what I was looking for my heavy armor-user battlemage build. Second, would there be a way to make it work with both the greaves and pauldrons added by Nimrod's Bound Armor mod? The issue is that those pieces will still keep raising the Light Armor skill when struck, since they are not affected by this fix. Cheers.

I managed to implement this by modifying the bound graves and pauldrons spells, using the construction set tool, in the same style of this useful fix. They now level up the heavy armor skill when struck, while scaling their rating accordingly. However, it becomes clear that this change to the bound armor formula does, inevitably, turn it into a clearly broken alternative to regular heavy armor, since your character would be getting the full benefit of wearing enchanted dadric armor whithout its intended drawbacks (high encumberance and repair cost), due to its weightlessness. My question then is, would there be a way to make this modified bound armor's rating scale up to say, your conjuration skill instead of the armor skill of choice, as a means of blending both defense and magical skill in a more organic, less broken way? It would be great if this was possible, since it wouldn't turn late game-heavy armor obsolete when compared to a weightless, high rating alternative, instead requiring your character to spend time improving their magical capabilities to make their bound armor spells more effective, while keeping the heavy ebony and daedric armors viable due to their high enchantment values.

It's possible to have bound armour scale with Conjuration and some mods already implement this functionality. Armor Rating by Archimag does this while also rebalancing how much AR you get due to your armour skills. Bound to Balance by Opiter also allows reworks bound armor to scale off of Conjuration but also allows you to scale them off of Willpower instead, with the caveat that when maxed out bound armor only gives as much AR as it does in vanilla. Bound to Balance also explicitly works with bound pauldrons and greaves added by Magicka Expanded.

Unfortunately, none of these mods are compatible with OpenMW. So if you, like me, are looking for a mod that does work with OpenMW, none seem to exist. If you find such a mod, be sure to let me know.

Its not a bug. Bound armor is a SPELL and is used by mages. So a pure mage using the unarmored skill would benefit from it as intended.

Would this work with a mod that adds Bound Pauldrons?

I know this reply is coming three years after your comment, but hey, maybe you still want to know, or someone else may come across it. This mod works with the Bound Greaves and Pauldrons mod by Iravaka. The only "issue" is that the gauntlets and boots regain their original 10 agility/speed/hand to hand. What's odd to me is that the newly added Greaves and Pauldrons ALSO now have 10 agility/speed/hand to hand, essentially doubling the enchantment you get. The Greaves and Pauldrons also gain feather to offset their weight.

For me it does not work with Bound Pauldrons/Greaves. They are still armor rating 80 and have no weight change.

B.A.B. is a fantastic little mod and easily makes hard armor obsolete after a certain point of one's campaign. It is an essential part of my install. 5/5 would recommend.

Is this fix addressed in the most recent Morrowind Code Patch or Unofficial Morrowind Patch project?

    re: thank you

No, it is not. Hence the need for the mod.

Maybe it will be addressed by one of those projects eventually.
