This Reshade preset gives MH: Rise that next-gen feel by adding Ray Traced Global Illumination (RTGI) and modifying the default cartoonish color palette into something more realistic.

This preset uses Pascal Glitcher/Marty McFly's famous RTGI shader for the lighting enhancement which I can not include in the downloads since it is a premium shader he sells on his Patreon for $5 https://www.patreon.com/mcflypg. Go buy it.

or go find a free download, you ape.

RTGI incurs a somewhat hefty FPS cost. Expect to see a 20-30 FPS reduction when enabled. If you have a weaker system and can't afford to lose that much FPS, you can still use the MHR_Glory preset to get the color palette tweaks and skip the installation of the RTGI shader, but you won't get the lighting enhancements. The color palette tweaks have a near 0 performance impact on your FPS.

You do not need an RTX GPU to take advantage of RTGI's ray tracing, RTGI is compatible with any GPU.

This ray tracing portion of this preset has been carefully optimized to the best of my ability, it strikes a balance between performance and quality.

Pro Tip:
for the best experience possible, I recommend the RiseTweaks mod and setting the image quality to 1.75 or 2.0 for that extra crisp image quality.

ReShade v5.0.x works for many users, including myself, but some users have experienced major graphical issues and have solved them by going back to ReShade v4.9.x

Instructions:

Installing ReShade (ver. 4.9.x):
  • Run ReShade installer
  • Click "select a game and manage its ReShade installation"
  • Search for and select Monster Hunter Rise in the list. If not found, click "Browse" and navigate to the Monster Hunter Rise game directory containing the .exe
  • Select "Direct3D 10/11/12" for the rendering API
  • Check the boxes (click each box twice to get a check-mark that installs all the shaders from that pack) "qUINT by Marty McFly" and "color effects by prod80"

*Skip these final steps below if on ReShade v5.0+
  • After the install completes, click "Edit ReShade settings"
  • check the box "Performance Mode", Click OK.
  • Close ReShade Installer

Add remaining files to the game directory:

1. Add MHR_Glory preset:
  • navigate to the game directory, probably C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MonsterHunterRise for steam users
  • Add my preset "MHR_Glory.ini" to the base folder (where the .exe is)

2. Add RTGI Shader: *Low-end systems can skip this step if they can't handle the lighting but still want the color tweaks
  • navigate into the "reshade-shaders" folder from the Monster Hunter Rise game folder
  • copy both "Shaders" and "Textures" folders from the RTGI download into "reshade-shaders", replacing any conflicting files

Launch the game, press the "Home" key on your keyboard to open ReShade. Open the dropdown menu and select "MHR_Glory.ini"

Done.
