Hello, I have not installed this mod yet, because my laptop isn't good. But soon I am getting a gaming laptop. I am getting MGSV on my gaming laptop because this mod had caught my eye. I always disliked the camouflage in MGSV, because you always get spotted at 10 meters prone. Or 6 meters if you use "stealth mode." I always love the feeling of the enemy being so close to me that they could trip over me. So, I ask of anyone who has this mod. Does the mod allow you to stay hidden to the point, where enemies can be 1 meter away from you and can't see you?
    Thank you.
(Edit) Oh nevermind, turns out enemies will spot you at 7 meters no matter what camouflage you wear.

I do not think playing dead works. I mean pressing the "stealth" button. Does it work for you?
Enemies always detect you at 10 meters. However pressing the stealth button will increase your chances of not getting spotted to 7 meters. Enemies will always detect you are 7 meters from what I tested.
Camouflage doesn't really matter in the base game. Since you can be using woodland camouflage in the middle of the desert, and enemies wouldn't know where you are because you are 14 meters away from them.
But, I guess this mod helps it a little. Enemies can't see me when I crawl while using the right camouflage until I am around 14-20 meters away from them. Which makes it more fun since I need to choose the right camouflage and it adds a little more stress. And it adds consequences to the wrong type of camouflage you wear.
I wished that you could blend in the right environment so that enemies literally have to bump into you to spot you. And enemies being able see you and investigate who you are at prone level if you're wearing the wrong camouflage type.

Try this mod MGSVTPP Camo Index mod collection at Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Nexus - Mods and community (nexusmods.com)
It has a lot of versions and It's great for testing purposes too. Try out the (Total Cheat) version, you're practically invisible almost as good as stealth camo. Unfortunately the camo isn't that complex in the game, I have tested many mods and came to that conclusion, the best combo that I have found is IH for enemy hearing: 263% or above and enemy sights 230% or above and 100% effectiveness version, from the link above. This mod is good too but I like for enemies to se me from real far away but not make me out right away. I wish there was a way of adding scripted dialog and have them say something like "Who's out there?" "Is someone there" "If you don't answer, I'll shoot" would be cool and immersive.

My favorite place for testing is Da Shago Kallai villaige in Afghanistan at the bridge post, I see which line I can reach before getting spotted, while standing(Never make it to the bridge, without getting spotted), crouched(Make it to the edge) and prone(Almost halfway, to the third line).

      I hope that helps.

Also, do you use Infinite Heaven at Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Nexus - Mods and community (nexusmods.com)?
You can raise and lower enemy sights to your liking, for what it seems you want, you might not even need a camo index mod.
Also I do use -SBWM- Camouflage Index Overhaul, for the descriptions because they're hilarious.

      Oh, hello.
I'm sorry for not responding quickly. I do not believe I get informed when messages come my way.
Yes, I do have infinite heaven installed. I can see the differences, since I can collect the enemies ammunition from their weapons. Although I do not see much difference. I heard there is a menu I can access. Although I do not know how to access it. I could look it up, but if you can explain it. Then thank you very much.

https://www.nexusmods.com/metalgearsolidvtpp/mods/350 Thank you for the link too. I have already installed the mod and tested it. Although I still cannot blend in properly. Enemies still spot me 7 meters unfortunately. The Total cheat version I have tested. Although it doesn't feel too immersive since I can wear the wrong camouflage and enemies won't see me. I mean, the total cheat version just feels too strong, but by the name I should had already known that. But thank you very much for helping me.

Going back to https://www.nexusmods.com/metalgearsolidvtpp/mods/350. I feel as if the mod doesn't work except for the cheat version. I have seen in the comments that people said after installing the mod that "The game felt like mgs3." Sadly, it isn't the case for me. I do not know if it is bugged.

But having combined SBWM- Camouflage Index Overhaul mod with https://www.nexusmods.com/metalgearsolidvtpp/mods/350. It seems to have some effect on the camouflage, I think. When I wear the wrong camouflage, lets say Olive Drab on urban area's. Enemies will spot me 10-20 meters prone while I am staying still. Which makes me really happy, weirdly. Since it adds a certain stress to change into the right camouflage. Sadly, they can still spot me at 7 meters while wearing the right camouflage, while playing dead and it messes up with SBWM- Camouflage Index Overhaul. Since splinter camouflage doesn't work correctly and other camouflage, such as Olive Drab doesn't blend in with Rubbery/Urban area's.
Thank you again for helping, luckily I do not feel as if i wasted money on a game i already have on the PS4.

Use this with Infinite Heaven IHHook at Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Nexus - Mods and community (nexusmods.com)
Hold down the [dash key], (while in ACC) to get into the menu, you can do this in the field too but your options are limited.

Features and Options at Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Nexus - Mods and community (nexusmods.com)
Soldier parameters menu > Is what you want to edit.

As far as the camo goes, I ended up making my own variation from this mod and still testing it, its fun experimenting...
I have my enemy sights sat at 270%, It was night and I was prone and a soldier almost tripped over my foot, didn't even see me.
It's really hard to reproduce that during the day though but then again that's realistic to me because no matter how good your camo is at about 10 meters, it doesn't mean anything, grass and brushes are helpful though.

I played it on console first too and bought it on PC back in 2016 and recently got back into it.
Its definitely well worth it on PC, the modding community is awesome and the are so many game changers out there especially IH, Couldn't play without it and with all of the customizations and new mission/side ops addons, the replayability is endless.

The only thing I'm missing are cutscenes to go with all those tapes. :)

This can be helpful Camo Index UI display at Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Nexus - Mods and community (nexusmods.com)
It only gives vanilla read outs only though, meaning that you can use it with camo overhaul mods but it won't give you the actual modded percentage.

Ah ok. Thank you, again. I've managed to figure out how to open the menu.
Although, I'm still picky about setting soldier's sights. At 50%, enemies barely see me standing/walking. However, laying down playing dead they cannot see me at all. I guess with the right camouflage I would be happy. But even still, with the wrong camouflage they still won't see me. Setting the soldier's sights to 200%, they would see me at 20-15 meters always, prone while playing dead. Even with the right camouflage or hiding in foliage that hides my body fully. Wearing the wrong camouflage, they would see me walking/crawling farer away. Which did make me happy. Because everyone would see a man wearing bright blue clothes in the middle of the desert.

I guess no mod will ever make MGS5 feel like MGS3. But, you have said, I think. That the camouflage system isn't as complex as to MGS3. And realistically anyone would be able to see a man laying on the desert ground, even with camouflage. However, to me. I like the MGS3 way of camouflage even though it may not be realistic.

I do not think I will ever be satisficed with the camouflage system. Or I think no one will be able to make a mod that will make MGS5 feel like MGS3. But thank you very much for helping me! I managed to get the menu working because of your help.

      I appreciate it very much.

Howdy, nope! But I've found something better! This -> Camouflage Revamp - Classic at Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Nexus - Mods and community (nexusmods.com) actually allows you to blend in with foliage/terrain depending what version you install. I recommend MGS4 because camouflage is OP and enemies won't see you until 2 meters but boost up the sight of the guards to 130% or 150%.
Oh wait I forgot I do have the mods. It was named, "Camo index MGS3," with different versions. One is a 100% the other 150% and the other two I'm too lazy to state because I really never used them. One adds in a 1000% camouflage in any environment for every camouflage.

Something I've been testing for a while now is the actual effectiveness of the camos. It seems like that none of the camos actually do what they are advertised to do. In fact, it seems like none of them have any power whatsoever in effectiveness. I'm not sure if it's accurate or not, but the Camo Index UI display by CantStoptheBipBop constantly reports that the camos have the same effectiveness no matter the environment. During the day, when prone, you can get about 15% or so, and during the night while prone, you can get about 50% with any camo.

Again, I don't know if it's just the UI display incorrectly displaying it, but I have noticed that the camos in gameplay don't do much to conceal me, and it seems like no matter what I wear, the enemy will spot me at the same distances while standing, crouched, or prone.

So this mod might be a giant placebo. The descriptions are changed, but not the actual effects of the camos.
    1. AFAIK that mod does its own calculations depending on vanilla values. It's that the vanilla camo system is bad and an on/off thing depending on the surface you're prone/crouched on, and the speed of your movement.

Oh, hello. If you like camouflage, I found a new mod. Well, kind of new I guess.
Camouflage Revamp - Classic at Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Nexus - Mods and community (nexusmods.com)
It has four files you can download which are MGS4, MGS3, Peace Walker, and the main game that edits the camouflage. I think, personally the MGS4 file is the best, though overpowered but it has a bit less inconsistencies with MGS3 that I've tested.

Though, for a short summary. The mod makes foliage useful, wear woodland camouflage in vegetation and enemies won't spot you until 2 meters or so. Not only that, but it also changes enemy parameters and how far they will go on alert once detecting you. Such as for the MGS3, wear woodland camouflage in an urban environment, an enemy will instantly go on alert around I think, 40 to 60 meters. Wearing the wrong camouflage/laying prone and still will cause enemies to get suspicious of you and investigate you. Which is a nice gameplay feature that isn't in the original game. Oh, also it changes stealth suits too such as the sneaking suit for MGS3 gives you an overall bonus in your camo index in any environment. Surprisingly that is the only mod that changes the sneaking suit, dlc camouflage, and the battlesuit too.

If you want a challenge! Wear the naked gold or silver camouflage to allow enemies to instantly detect you!

I personally think this is the best camouflage mod if you like camouflage. Though, it does have its own inconsistency such as for MGS3, DMP camouflage doesn't hide you like Tiger Stripe camouflage in Afghanistan when you're in greenery/vegetation. Tiger stripe camouflage, enemies don't detect you until 2 meters or closer. However, DMP is the usual 7 meters.
DMP is for jungle environments/terrian, so it only helps in Africa, which I find weird as they are both designed to blend in with vegetation.

Oh also. If you're using the MGS4 camouflage system. Use the "Gravel" camouflage in Afghanistan. Despite the environment being a desert/mixed greenery. Wearing for example, "desert fox" will allow enemies to detect you further (but it still helps) even when wearing it on "sand." That type of camouflage is only meant for pure sand, to which I may not be able to explain because I am terrible at explaining things. Most environments in Afghanistan is surprisingly gravel, so that camouflage should allow you to stay hidden at 2 meters or less.

      I hope this helps, maybe?

Only real problem I see is that the new swimsuits don't have descriptions, as well as some of the new FOB items.

Personally, I don't use them, but yeah, a quick update might be needed just to fix them.

from what I am testing. The camouflage mod only works when you are moving. I mean when you crawl on the right environment enemies will have a less chance of spotting you.
I hoped this mod allowed me to blend in with my environment. But that isn't the case. It isn't like MGS3.

That's because camo is done differently and not as complex, you'd think it would be more advanced. Like taking elevation into factor, etc...
I use IH and was hoping you could change enemy sights for when they're below your person and above but that's not the case, it's just one simple slider.

Just like WhiteCat555, I am having the same issue of 2 out of the 3 swimsuits, and the newest FOB tools having no name nor descriptions.
