The Chocolate Chip camouflage was in service in the United States military from 1976 to 1995, however it was originally developed in 1962, under the belief that it would be necessary in the future to intervene in the instabilities regarding Arabs and Israeli.
It was used in the Persian Gulf War, Operations Eagle Claw (the operation intended to end the Iran Hostage crisis), Restore Hope (peacekeeping efforts in Somalia in the early 1990s), and Gothic Serpent (an operation with the mission of capturing Mohamed Farrah Aidid, a faction leader in Somalia).
Commonly used with Woodland Camouflage Flak Jackets, due to an insufficient supply of said jackets.\
