Thank you for the manual editing instructions, as my own coalesced.ini is heavily edited and I would have been dissuaded from using your changes if I had to switch it out. This fix worked perfectly, and I think that the game now looks much more visually appealing. Nice job.
Janky? Or idiot proof? Myself I didn't need to know how to edit the ini, just the line for the search and the value to change to. And that could have been find these lines: *** and 0 the values.
Although for me the DOF setting is going to do jack all probably, I shut all DOF and blur effects off. I wear glasses and have to do expensive annoying time consuming eye tests to get them just so everything I see is crisp and clear... I don't want a game to reverse that. If I want blur... I can take my glasses off.
I made the changes to my INI manually with your information, and it makes a difference alright ... it is subtle in my opinion but still noticeable. Thank you Clone2020.
EDIT: Okay, I just saw a big difference. Before using the changes from this mod there was always a very annoying light effect when talking to Aria on Omega. With the changes from this mod that light is completely gone and I can see Shepard completely without that annoying light.
Really excited to use this in my next playthrough, can't wait to take a zillion more screenshots! :)
The comparison images you've uploaded, particularly Jacob and Mordin walking through the doorway and Mordin in the lab really show what a wonderful difference your tweaks make. Wow! Generally speaking, I personally don't mind lens flares too much but I'm not big on bloom. Glad to be rid of it!
I really wish I could forget the trilogy and play it again. There's something about this franchise that will always have a special place in my memories compared to most other titles.
"I didn’t bother removing the lens flares in the first game"
Primitive graphics don't bother me, would following the manual instructions work for the first game or should I just try goodbye lens flares. There's definitely some that bother me, like on Nodacrux when talking with Doctor Ross of ExoGeni
I'm getting flashbacks from using the tungsten rounds in the first game; the flickering blue lens flares almost gave me a seizure haha
You've probably finished the game already like the others. I would(ve) recommend(ed) using the goodbye lens flares mod for the first game IF you already have the third party mod managers and explorers. My instructions might not work for the first game since they organized the ini files and their contents slightly differently.
You've probably finished the game by now im so sorry for the late reply but if you are up to a bit more tinkering than just straight up coalesced manipulation like mine, I think the goodbye lens flares provides a better result since it just tones down the lens flare effects instead of straight up hiding/removing them. If you compare them side by side, you'll see the differences but, if you're not keen on tiny details, my mod may be (or have been) a better option for you.

Anywho will DL your file so I can endorse it.

Cheers and thank you!

I understand the approach to solving this problem is quite different but I have not made a comparison.
