Installation Unzip the file and put it in "/KINGDOM HEARTS III/Content/Paks/~mods/". Now simply head over to Apex in the Realm of Gods, and Meg and Pegasus will help you over to the Coliseum.
Compatibility
The Coliseum is quite flexible and should be compatible with almost anything. That said, there are still some things that could interfere with it:
Not compatible with mods that modify the Realm of the Gods umap file.
Modifying the different ENVs and Checkmaps that the mod loads lighting from can break lighting.
The Coliseum modifies Olympus Area Name, Save Area, Treasure, and the Lucky Emblem datatables.
Features
There are a ton of features, and it's difficult to list them all, but here are some highlights:
New area - The Coliseum has been added to the Realm of the Gods overworld, featuring an area name, custom mini-map, and save point.
New collectibles - Two Treasure Chests and one special Lucky Emblem have been added to the Coliseum.
New NPCs - Meg, Phil, and Pegasus are here to help you out, now with voice acting!
Cups, old and new - Recreated cups from KH1 and KH2, as well as new ones!
Scoring system - You gain score from defeating enemies. You gain more the faster you defeat them and the higher your health percentage.
Coliseum menu - Talk to Phil, and a menu with loads of cups becomes available.
Settings - Press Triangle etc. on the Series Menu to open. Here you can change your settings and delete your progress.
- Profiles - Change your profile to change your saved progress.- Crowd Density - The amount of people in the audience. - Crowd Volume - Set the volume of the crowd's cheering. - Unlock Everything - Gives access to all cups and matches regardless of progress. - No Restrictions - Disables restrictions such as those on Forms and Shotlocks. - Always Scale Enemies - Scales enemies to match your level.
Hard Mode - Press Triangle etc. on the Cup Menu to activate, similar to Paradox Cups from KH2.
Party Override - Press Triangle etc. on the Match select menu to open a menu that allows you to set player and allies in the Coliseum.
Continue Feature - Press Square etc. on Series Select to continue where you left off in a Cup.
Crowd - A Kingdom Hearts first: an actual crowd! The crowd density can be adjusted, and their size and colours are randomized.
Progression gating - Cups are locked off based on your progress in the game. This can be circumvented in the settings.
Cup rewards - Completing a cup for the first time will grant you various rewards.
Trophy stand - There's a stand in the Coliseum for all the trophies you've earned.
Coliseum Crown - Earned by completing all main cups. Can be loaded in other worlds by adding "ColiseumCrown" to the ModLoader.
Rulesets - Matches come with a variety of rulesets and restrictions.
Dynamic lighting and music - Music and lighting is set on a per match basis, giving a lot of flexibility.
Dynamic party - The player and party members are set on a per match basis.
Debug Menu - Shift + F12 will open the menu during matches. Provides information, and Shift + Left/Right will change the current Match.
...and a whole lot more.
Recommended Mods Party REHAUL AI - this makes all party members function properly outside their intended fights.
User-Created Content This will require some modding know-how, but here's the guide for it. Once complete the new .pak file can simply be placed in your mod folder. If you've made your own series, please upload it on Nexus with the Coliseum as a dependency. List of published User Series: Wenitimu - various character-themed cups and more
Incomplete
The mod is in a good state, but there are still things that need to be added or improved:
Balancing is still incomplete, a lot of enemies remain untouched or need further changes. This has proved challenging and time-consuming.
Custom enemies, including Sephiroth, is something I want to include eventually. Some custom enemies have been made.
...and more polish and fine-tuning.
Known Issues
Crashes
There's a Concurrency Error that sometimes occurs. C-Mod may still cause this error when attempting to load in certain enemies.
Major Bugs
Some enemies don't function properly when spawned manually like here in the Coliseum, but a lot of functionality has been restored!
Luxord is fairly broken, but can be fought in Vessels of Darkness with MX as priority target.
LimitCut Xigbar's action command "Showdown" will lock you in place.
Killing Sköll in his cutscene will cause a fairly long slowdown, but it will eventually move on to the next match.
Exp Zero does not function when the player character isn't Sora. This is just how abilities work.
Some enemies can decide to teleport out of the arena.
Minor Bugs
The Moogle Shop sometimes doesn't want to appear.
While cup restrictions can stop you from activating forms, they still appear among your reaction commands.
Team Attacks from non-standard party members could put you outside the arena.
Enemies can leave "attacks" or effects when they die.
Player and allies don't idle underwater properly the first time they are underwater on transition.
Focus meter greys out after swimming, and doesn't return to normal afterwards.
Custom NPCs can be stood on.
Starting a tutorial and returning to the Realm of the Gods will not load in the Coliseum.
Using a shotlock while a match is being completed can cause camera issues, at least for Aqua and Riku.
Sora as an ally can cause issues, often being replaced with other allies, or not appearing. This is not caused by the Coliseum.
Using Spellweaver and then switching to Sora can cause issues.
The track for Lump of Horror has a very long intro, and won't skip forward the first time it is played.
LimitCut Saïx will leave his HUD on-screen after being killed.
