Storm87's Consistent Armor Sets

I consider this mod to be an addon for Storm87's Capes and Armor Fixes. For good reasons, however, I decided to release it as a standalone mod. These two mods can (and should) be easly merged if you choose to do so.

When I was browsing through copious amount of armor pieces in the game, it quickly occured to me, that devs have tried to implement a certain color code for the Coin Guard outfits. Different colors were suppose to represent the rank of the owner and the quality of armor itself. Light brown for basic equipment, black for medium quality, and red for top tier elites. For whatever reason this attempt failed or was abandoned half way through. The result is... a mess. Most of Guard gambesons are simply brown - low and high quality alike. Brigantine found in a trash bin is almost indistinguishable from high quality stuff. Especially factions' regimental outfits. Especially, when you need to estimate the quality of your opponent's armor with a quick glance, or orientate yourself easier in merchant's inventory. I decided to continue where Spiders had stopped. And the final result is this mod.

Now, every single Coin Guard outfit comes in three, clearly distinguishable variations: brown, black and red - depending on it's quality. On the attached screenshots, you'll see male versions of faction themed cuirasses as an example, although I had to fix mainly their female counterparts.

Why separate release, then? Well, there are two reasons:

1. By looking at .pssg and .sli files it's pretty obvious what developers had tried to achieve. Certain armor pieces have CustomShiftColor parameter set, but .pssg's (containers with meshes and other data) were not properly configured to use it. Or vice versa. Some male outfits were properly implemented, but not a female ones, etc. So I'm 99% sure, that I've done something that devs originally intended to do. Yet still, some people may see this mod not as an unofficial patch, but rather a custom visual modification. And I don't want to force anyone to use it, if you only wish to fix outfits which are OBVIOUSLY broken.

2. This mod overrides items_autogen_equipements.sli. This file is often used by other modders who want to add or modify weapons and armor. So it's not as fool-proof as CaAF mod in terms of compatibility. In my case, this .sli file contains some minor visual tweaks, but it's NOT absolutely necessary for this mod to work. Most of the "magic" lies within .pgz files themselves. Even if you won't use the attached .sli file, almost all Guard outfits will be fixed anyway.

Installation:

Unpack "equipment" and "item" folders from the archive and place them into your "datalocal" folder, typically located at:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\GreedFall

If you want to merge this mod wih "Storm87's Capes and Armor Fixes", THIS mod should be on top. Overwrite any conflicting files.

Compatibility:

This mod will override numerous .pgz files in the following directories:

equipment\huf\bod
equipment\hum\bod

I'm not aware of any other mods that could be using these files, so it should be perfectly safe. However...

items/items_autogen/items_autogen_equipments.sli

This file is used by many mods to change properties of weapons and armor. Or to add some new ones. There is a high risk of incompatibility with such mods. See description for details.
