About this mod

Returns bells and synths instrumentation to Mako Reactor field music for Chapters 1 & 5. Does not affect battle music. Remake-style modern production.

Replaces the mako reactor background music with my own re-score which includes the tubular bells, synths, and other instruments to make it closer to the original. This track was produced by me specifically for this mod and designed to fit in with the other Mako Reactor music already in the game, including battle themes and tension layers.

Includes two separate pakchunks for Reactor 1 and Reactor 5 so you can choose one or both to replace. The Replacement music is the same for both levels, just like the original music is the same for both levels.

Version 1.2 Update - Video preview has been updated for listening - see changelog for changes

Includes:
  • cue version for the cutscene that plays in Chapter 1 upon entering the reactor
  • Field background music for Reactor 1
  • Tension layer field music that plays during the laser section
  • Field background music for Reactor 5

Features:
  • A chorused piano right at the start, similar to the piano sound of the PSX version
  • A synth-like sound for the mako melody instead of octave strings
  • Tubular bells instead of piano for the Shinra Theme passage
  • The pitch-bend off-beat synths
  • No more diminished chords in the high strings spiccato
  • Choir can be heard above other instruments in the mix

Known issues:
For some reason, battle music in Reactor 5 starts from the beginning instead of dynamically synchronizing to the field music like it should. Exiting battle and transitioning back to field music will transition correctly. This only affects 3 quick battles, so will probably not address.
