    Common Issues:

    Entry Point Not Found error launching the Creation Kit on latest Steam version with a downgraded Fallout 4 game:

    You need to either downgrade the Creation Kit to the older version compatible with the old game, or simply get the new steam_api64.dll file from latest Fallout 4 game and rename it to steam_api64_downgradeBackup.dll. The powershell will automatically switch between the files when launched, so you can maintain an updated Fallout 4 Creation Kit with a downgraded game. This file should have already been made for you if you used the Simple Fallout 4 Downgrader.


    ASSERTION FATAL ERROR. Reason: Unspecified exception (0xC000005)

    This could perhaps be many things, but I suggest it is very likely that you need to set the following INI setting to true in CreationKitPlatformExtended.ini:

    How do you reset? I chose the wrong fo4 installation folder.

    so this will give any modded characters with no heads from x-cell heads?

    also ive down what's needs to be done for MO2 i believe and when i run it through MO2 it opens up shows fallout 4 which i click but 

    it doesn't show the second picture just asking for FO4edit or xEdit, basically im at fallout 4 path and trying to get to vault system screen

    I found the reason, for some reason i had a fallout 4 folder in my c drive and that where it was looking so i moved all of that stuff to my d drive and i got the screen now

    Hey DoubleYou, I know it's not your mod, but do you have any tips on getting Creation Kit Platform Extended to work with game version 1.10.163.0 Downgraded?

    I'm only using it because it's a prerequisite for your mod, but I keep getting the "version is not compatible" error after I launch CK.

    Nevermind I was using the wrong version, just a small brain fart bro lol

    Just completed a successful 11 hour rendering session using this tool! And no more stutters about 3-4 hours in! Very grateful for your work. The only issues I ran into were the ASSERTION FATAL ERROR which was resolved using your pinned comment solution and also Fusion City Rising not wanting to progress during FaceGen so i just uninstalled it. Thank you again!

    Total noob here, and may seem like a dumb question but, 

    im having an issue that creation kit almost insta closes at start up. Read through some solutions, downloaded the previous version same as pre next gen, still no go.  

    going ahead with the quick fix option to bypass the issue. 
    Question: if everything goes tits up, what do i do to revert this and X-cell ?

    No idea if this has been told before, but i managed to run it under Linux, in case someone needs to, here's what i did.


    • Installed PowerShell https://github.com/PowerShell/PowerShell/releases/tag/v7.5.1 in proton (launch ProtonTricks, run "uninstaller" and in the window that will open, click "install" on the upper right corner, then select the file in the file explorer, then install as any other windows app.
    • Modified the batch file in this mod "Face generator.bat", here's the content: "pwsh -noprofile -executionpolicy bypass -file .\Toast-Facegen.ps1"
    • Launched normally though ModOrganizer, in my case.

    Forgot to say, CreationKit did non work out of the box, but this reddit post helped:

    just ignore the running under wine part, I also copied the CreationKit files from steam directly into my fallout folder, but i've no idea if that was necessary or not.

    So I keep getting the ASSERTION FATAL ERROR. Reason: Unspecified exception (0xC000005), applied your fix from pinned comment and still get the CK crash. VEFS says task successfully completed but I at a loss at this point. Wish I knew what to do to get this to work properly. Went through and made sure I had the latest versions of everything but to no avail.

    When I run this I get "an error occured while loading modules. editing is disabled. check message log and correct the error."
    with "background loader: fatal: exception: unknown archive version 0x00000007"

      It sounds like one of your tools is out of date.

      Thank you updating xEdit from 4.1.5 to 4.1.5f fixed the issue.

    Hello! First of all I want to say that x-cell + this tool is awesome! I have a lot of hairmods and npc mods, a bit prettier faces, for example and it was pretty bad experience with all of the stutters but thanks to facegen they are gone.

    But I do have a question, probably a stupid one, but... Is it safe to delete FaceGen Output mod and plugin if I want to regenerate all faces once again because some of NPCs are fully invisible and some of their hair goes all the way to the mountains?
