RobCo Teleshopping

Convenient shopping from home ∙ Large assortment of products ∙ Same-day delivery
Day 15 of the Merry Modding Days Calendar (https://concordstories.com/)

It's a story as common as radiation poisoning: you spent so much time running between settlements needing your help, you completely forgot it's almost Christmas, and, you didn't buy any presents. What now? All the vendor stalls and commercial plots already called it a day. Carla is nowhere to be seen. The Super-Duper Mart might be technically open, but who wants 200 year old Salisbury Steak with feral ghoul tooth marks? Gift-wrapping random junk from Myrna's robot is slowly getting old, too. Besides, fast-travelling all the way to Diamond City, right now?

Wouldn't it be nice if you could just stay home, and someone else would bring you some goods, like, right now? But, who would be crazy enough to deliver through the postapocalyptic wasteland, especially on such short notice?!

Well, you're in luck, because, as it turns out, RobCo would do just that! Unbeknowst to most, a large, well-stocked, fully-automated warehouse has been constructed just before the bombs fell. An elaborate marketing campaign was planned for the release in december 2077, advertizing costruction kits for a so-called "Teleshopping Beacon", enabling anyone with such a device in their backyard to transmit purchase orders to the facility from the comfort of their home terminal. With speed and efficiency unfathomable by the living, RobCo's finest would then package the ordered items into a specialized Eyebot, and dispatch it to the customer.

"But", you might ask, "if the release was planned for the december 2077, then they couldn't have released it, because, well, there was this rather significant event in october of said year?" True, the global nuclear apocalypse but somewhat of a dampener on RobCo's plans. However, fortune simples upon you once again! Rumor says samples of the product have been sent to selected retailers, way before the release date. Which retailers were selected? Several, in fact. But, most important for you, my Commonwealth-dwelling settler, Wattz Consumer Electronics.

Usage
  • Go to Wattz Consumer Electronics. Find the magazine there. You can also grab the construction kit box, it contains the resources you'll need.
  • After you found the magazine, build the Teleshopping Beacon from Power -> Misc and power it.
  • From a connected terminal, select "[ > Teleshopping]".
  • Select "Browse Shop" to see the available product categories, select a category to see the products within, select a product to add it to your shopping cart.
  • You can review and change your shopping cart from the main view.
  • Once you are ready to order, exit the terminal. The cash register on the beacon will open. Activate it to deposit your Pre-War Money.
  • When the payment has been deposited, an Eyebot will be dispatched to deliver your items. You can pick them up from the mailbox at the beacon.

In the settings, you can also change the currency to Bottlecaps, and even the surcharge. It's a single-player game, you make your own difficulty. The latter setting will also make the Teleshopping Beacon produce some extra vendor income, if built in a settlement, similar to the slot machines from Vault-Tec Workshop.
